The Army 1

Shoving the thin notebook and the pen inside the [Inventory], Eddra wanted to examine the changes on the [System] since he did not have the opportunity to check it a while ago.

'[Status].' Perhaps he could do that after consuming his stats points.

Ding!

His attention was caught from the unforeseen change in his status as well. Eddra presumed that the plate, which notified him that he had gained a level when he killed the last knight captain, was because he filled up the thousand of [EXP] in his [Status].

"If I fill this then I can gain a level again."

Certainly, the reason why he gained a level was that he eliminated some rats earlier that day. And it was not only that, but Eddra also noticed that the [EXP] differed to the ranking of the knights. He received 125 from the captain and the others were just knights that gave him 75.

'It could've been 150 if I killed the mage.' He was too late though because Wensy had already got his hands on the mage.

Devastated from the wasted chance, he simply went at increasing his [Base Stats].

[Strength: 24 (-/+)

Agility: 17 (-/+)

Vitality: 12 (-/+)

Intelligence: 11 (-/+)

Dexterity: 14 (-/+)

Luck: 6 (-/+)

Remaining Stat Point(s): 0]

For the days he had spent his stat points, Eddra noticed his growth in strength and so did his sudden change in speed. Moreover, the elimination of the rats that slip through was a great way to examine the abilities of the adjusted [Base Stats].

'[Strength] is... damage, of course. If I want to be fast enough to evade any attacks, I should increase the [Agility] for my speed. And [Dexterity] is just similar to [Agility]. [Luck] is just luck.' Eddra brought his hand on his chin. 'Then [Vitality] and [Intelligence] could increase my [HP] and [MP].'

"What are [HP] and [MP]?" Eddra asked himself. Maybe, he would get to it later since he had to see the update from the [System].

The new feature had given him two new commands: the [Dungeon] and the [Map]. Eddra stated the second new command for he had no clue on what he should expect to the first one

'[Map].'

The large square translucent plate popped before his eyes, showing the entire land of Bancroft specified with the names of the town he had traveled and the strange dots on some areas of the Kingdom that had different colors.

Bringing a finger as he pressed one dot of which had the light blue color, a different plate slide through beside the square one and was followed with the voice of neither a man nor a woman.

[Name: Abysmal Forest

Type: Dungeon (Inhabited)

Upon entering the path, as one wended down deep the 'Abysmal Forest', it would lead one into the hidden darkness of the woods as various creatures—differ in sizes—indwelled the boundless forest and expose oneself in a peril situation.]

"A place inhabited of creatures?"

He had never heard of a place in his lifetime. It wasn't because it was something that did not exist, however, encountering one was just unbelievable.

Creatures or malformed animals were only known in the world of mages. The summoners would call for these creatures and they would constantly use them for practice purposes.

Summoning one in the outer world without the right measures would call for a truce, ceased as the mage, and punishment of execution.

Thus, Eddra had never seen a single thing nor that he desired to.

Pressing the other dot that had the color of red at the far west of the one he first checked, a word popped up above it—[You].

'That is me? Then it's my location?'

Eddra browsed his way on the plate, sliding the picture before his eyes, he saw places that were still not identified. His hunch was, he needed to travel there to know the specific name of its land.

Amazed. The new command was convenient and simply remarkable, however, he needed to test the other one as well.

'[Dungeon],' he recited, soon as he waited for something, it only showed him a simple one.

[No near dungeon(s) detected.]

'What is this? What does it do?' Although he had not seen a special thing after stating the command, Eddra had the feeling that it would be something useful. 'Should I try it near a dungeon then?'

Sigh. Eddra flapped his arms and body on the bed after hiding all of the plates before him. He hoped that by tomorrow, there would be no features to be added again. It was an effort to understand everything that was absolutely too foreign for him.

...

Eddra did not follow the usual order of his routine. Instead, he finished up with his swings and hits first so he could do the other things later if the commander suddenly wanted to leave that morning.

He was pleased that he did what his gut was telling him though. The commander did call for them to assemble their belongings and ready themselves because they were about to leave the place—after eating the morning meal.

When they finished their breakfast, they had split into two groups again. But this time, the commander wanted to be with Eddra and Wensy in the same vehicle.

Drawing his brows together, Eddra stared at the plate. The rewards still included a new feature for the [System]. Oh, he simply hoped it was not complicated to deal with later.

"Sir," Wensy called, "Where are we heading now?"

"We will cross the river and escort this guy at the base."

"So, Eddra is still joining the army?" He immediately faced his fellow's direction soon as he heard his name.

"Did you thought he would join the troop?" the commander scoffed.

"Yes. My apologies for asking, Sir."

"We should just ask him." Arundel exchanged looks with Eddra. "You still wanna be in there?"
