Searching for the Truth

Sergeant Adams and Sergeant Buckley took Ren and Alex out for the same 3 hour run the next day. This time Ren was able to run the entire time except for the last 20 minutes.

Battered, but still conscious, Ren slowly stood up. His clothes were ripped and covered in blood. With some broken bones and deep cuts, he was in a considerable amount of pain. He gazed at Alex, who only managed to run a bit longer than he did during his first run. He was unconscious as well as covered in blood. Sergeant Buckley hoisted Alex onto his shoulders and headed towards the North building.

"Sir, I have something to ask you," stated Ren.

"Go on."

''Where are they holding my parents?"

The sergeant seemed surprised by this, "That's classified."

"Sir, how am I supposed to believe they are alright if I can't even see them?"

"Listen here soldier, I'm not alllowed to reveal anything on that subject, now stop asking me about that subject or for the next run I'll drive so fast you'll be dragged behind for the whole 3 hours!"

After hearing this reply, Ren turned and limped very slowly back towards his cell room in the North building. Sergeant Adams follow a little ways back in order to escort him back.

After sleeping the rest of the day and through the night, Ren woke up the next day completely healed. Alex was still asleep recovering. Due to this, Sergeant Adams took him out for another 3 hour run without Alex. This time, Ren managed to make it the entire time wihtout being dragged around at all. He didn't have any deep wounds, scratchs, or even any broken bones. His legs were shot, his lungs hurt, and he was extremely tired, but that was all that was bothering Ren.

By the time he got back, Ren was notified that Alex was awake. Ren immediatley asked Sergeant Adams if he could go and see him. Adams allowed it but they would have to see each other in one of the food courts in the North building so that he could keep an eye on him. Adams then notified Sergeant Buckley through a walkie talkie on the situation.

When Ren got there, Alex was already scarfing down his food since he hadn't eaten in 2 days. Ren went and grabbed some food, then headed towards Alex to eat with him.

"Hey Alex!" greeted Ren.

Alex looked up from his food and a big smile emerged on his face. There were still a few bandges around his body since we wasn't quite completely healed.

"Hey Ren, what have you been up to?"

"Oh well, I was completely healed after the night of rest so Adams took me out for another run today. I actually just finished up."

"You are an inspiration buddy, I wish had full compatibilty like you do. That way wouldn't be in pain for so long. I only have 61% compatibility."

"You never told how you first ended up here yet, Alex"

"Oh, well I was taken from my home and they killed family. Luckily, I didn't have any friends over at the time. They probably all think that we are just missing."

"How did to react to that when you found out?"

"At first I was sad, but then again, I wasn't real close with my parents. I was actually overjoyed when I found out I had a core inside of me. I hated being stuck as a handicap while so many of my friends had those awesome abilities."

"So that means you are one that joined them willingly?"

"That's right."

"My friends were killed and they are supposedly holding my parents hostage here."

"What do you mean supposedly?"

"All they showed me is a couple of photographs of them. It looks like they are here, but they refuse to let me see them."

Alex had finished his remaining food and stood up.

"Well, I"m off. I need to continue resting so I can recover in time for tomorrow's run. See you then buddy." Alex then turned, emptied his tray of trash, returned it, and headed out to see Sergeant Buckley who was talking to Sergeant Adams.

"Since he volunteered, I bet he got one of the nicer rooms that is larger and has some actual furinture in it," thought Ren as he continued to eat his food. "I wonder if he also has a TV. That is they only way it makes sense to me for him to want to go back to his room if it is one of the nicer ones. As for me, I want to stay out of my room as long as possible."

Ren finished his food and returned his tray before headed to meet Sergeant Adams who lead him back to his room on the upper floors.

Ren layed down on his bed wondering how he could find out where his parents could be located, or if they were even here at all.

"Think Ren, think. Who would have files on all the people here besides possibly the Commander." Ren knew he wasn't going to be able to get into the Commander's office anytime soon, he didn't even know which building it's held in.

"I have to consider another factor as well," thought Ren. "Do they hold physical copies of files, or are they all digital and stored away on a hard drive somewhere. It could be possible that they hold a physical file only long enough until they are sure that it is safely secure on a computer's hard drive, in which case, I would have to find those physical files fast before they dispose of them. I have been here for only a week. If they do hold physical files they will destroy them soon. There is absolutely no way for me to get to the computer's hard drive."

An idea of who may actually hold the files on himself and his parents finally came to him. "Dr. Donavin. He has to have the file on me and anything related to me since he preformed the surgery on me. He also takes all the blood samples and treats my injuries."

Ren finally knew whose office he had to find, and it wouldn't be that difficult to get in there. Ren had a plan.
