To Nevada

Ren woke up on the couch in front of the television. There were only four bedrooms and the girls already claimed a room. So in the end it was between Eric and Ren on who was going to get the last bedroom.

"You ruined my life; I'll be taking the bedroom." Eric had declared.

"He's going to hold that over me as long as he can, isn't he?" Ren sighed as he rose up from the couch.

The morning was a free for all as everyone tried to make their own breakfast. Lorraine was cooking eggs, while Eric was waiting for his bread to toast. Ms. Carter seemed to still be asleep and Ms. Croft was in the shower.

"I'll think I'll just have some cereal." Ren decided. Ren suddenly felt a burst of pain unlike anything before in his right side. "What the hell!" He lifted his shirt to investigate. He didn't see anything, so he put his shirt back down and continued eating his cereal.

After everyone had went through their morning routine, they began to pack their bags as they were going to ship out in a hour. Ren began to stuff his backpack with some clothes he bought recently. As he finished, he pulled out his mask and stared at it for a couple of seconds before stuffing it in his bag.

About an hour later everyone had packed up. Ren slung his backpack over his shoulder as Ms. Croft pulled up in a huge white van.

"Great. Like that's not suspicious." Ren stated sarcastically. Lorraine chuckled at that one. Even Eric smiled a little.

"Can it Ren. This was the only van they had." snapped Ms. Croft.

They all threw their things into the van and they were off. They made stops at electronic stores as well as other stores and bought more transmitters, clothes, first aid equipment, flashlights, food, anything they thought that they might need.

After they thought they were well prepared for about anything, they left for Nevada. It was a good thing they had the van, it was now completely full of supplies.

About three hours in Ren felt the same pain on his side.

"Ah! Fuck!" Ren blurted out.

"What?" asked Lorraine.

"Oh, it's nothing. Don't pay attention to me." Ren replied.

Ren rubbed his side, hoping to massage the pain away, but it stayed for quite a while before going away.

Ren grew very bored as the road trip dragged on. Ren couldn't help but begin to think, "What could be the overall goal of making more soldiers with the core. Is it really just to win the war, or is there something else, and the white light, what exactly does that have to do with anything?"

Ren thought hard, but couldn't think of anything as he stared off into the distance at flat desert as far as the eye could see.

The Ms. Croft stopped the van and they all looked out into flat desert land that was surrounded by fence.

"What now?" Eric asked.

"Woah, you asked a question!" Ren joked.

"Shut up prick. I'm just asking the question everyone else is thinking."

"The building is about six miles in from this fence. So I'll go over the plan again. Ren will break in with the help of Ms. Carter's hacking ability. We will follow behind him and when he is drawing all the attention to himself, Lorraine, Eric and I will be taking out everyone in the surveillance rooms guided by Ms. Carter after she gets Ren in. Remember that we need information on where the other facilities are. Any other information we can find about their dealings such as when, where, and how they are distributing the brainwashing drug would be useful as well."

Everyone understood.

Lorraine looked uncomfortable. She didn't want to kill another person, but if it had to be done, she decided she would do it. However, Eric seemed like nothing really bothered him. He actually looked a bit excited.

Ren pulled his mask over his head and walked over to the fence. He clasped his hands on the fence and pulled.

SNAAAAAAAAAP!

The interlocking ropes of metal forming the fence tore apart one by one as Ren pulled them apart. Ren then focused his energy in his legs.

WHOOSH!

Ren shot off into the distance sending up dust as he went.

"Damn he's fast." marveled Lorraine. Everyone else nodded in agreement.

Well, I guess I'm up next." Ms. Carter announced as she went back into the van and set up her laptop and started working.

Ren saw the building in the distance. It was a very large building that looked to have about only ten floors. However, the building stretched out on the ground for a couple of miles.

"Building in sight." reported Ren.

"I'm almost in. Just another sec." replied Ms. Croft through the transmitter.

"I might be able to just smash right through."

"Don't Ren, that wall is at least three meters thick." Ms. Croft informed Ren.

"That's overkill, don't you think? In that case, I'll begin to circle around the building." Ren shifted his weight in order to change the direction he was running and began to circle the building.

Ren eventually stopped on a road that lead straight to the building entrance. The entrance looked where two very large doors which had to weigh a couple hundred tons.

Ren stared at it and breathed in deeply, before exhaling. "I'm in front of the entrance."

"I'm in the system now." Ms. Carter replied. "The doors should start to open in three, two, one."

Ren heard a deep click, even from so far away. The doors began to open very slowly. Just then an alarm began to sound.

"Looks like they know I'm here. You guys can start to move now."

"Roger that." Ms. Croft responded. She shifted the van in gear and drove through the hole in the fence; towards the building.
