Chapter 16

John told Robbert about the beast and how it fought and it using words in their first fight, to say he was fascinated was an understatement, he wrote furiously in his diary, John was scared it would catch ablaze.

He asked for specifics such as what Its diet was and details like that. John told him about the incident where he was looking at the team through the force field so he would assume that it ate humans like every other behemoths, that's when the professor said that's not necessarily true, different specious of behemoths like different food for example the Cavern Turtle doesn't eat humans it eats magma from volcanos and even N.R.G , or like the Black Crow that eats smaller category behemoths!

He then asked a question which John didn't know the answer too.

"Was it infected with the Hardwood virus?" asked Robbert.

"What the hell is the Hardwood virus?" asked John.

"The Hardwood virus is that same white creatures you found in your mission to that dome. It was named Hardwood because that was the scientist name that discovered it then later killed by it. Team Zero and I went to the dome after your mission and then we caught one of the Infected people and brought it back to test it." replied Robbert.

John nodded his head as he listened to what the professor had to say.

"Professor Hardwood was wrong; it wasn't a bacterium but a virus instead! After a few tests we saw that the virus had evolved, it just doesn't infect humans anymore it infects other behemoths themselves.

So that made me start thinking why would nature develop something like this? Why create something that kills both Predators at the top of their respective food chains and the prey which is us humans?

Till this day I can't figure it but I did figure out that the virus has changed its structure three times already. The first form is this grey fluid that enters the host through the mouth, the second form is the one you've seen which was that they looked like the first Raubtiers we encountered, the last and current one is a white snake." said Robbert.

"Wait white snake? That's what that one Goji used to resurrect the other ones." said John.

"Correct we also believe that a select few can carry these viruses without getting infected themselves." replied Robbert.

After the whole information share session John decided to leave and look around the lab to waste time before the next cart comes back around to take him back to the base.

As John was looking around, he saw a bunch of things that didn't make sense, such as remodeling the Chasser to a smaller almost human size armor but what would the purpose of that be?

His attention was drawn to a room that had no windows that you cannot look through and there were a bunch of locks on It but they seemed to be broken. This sent red flags right up and he slowly moved towards the open door. Once he entered, he saw it was pitch black and the sound of nothing was deafening.

He felt around the wall for a light switch and he found one so with a flick of the finger the lights switched on. John's eyes were blinded temporary as the light was right in his eyes, when he recovered, he saw something jump right at him so out of pure instinct he jumped backwards falling on his ass in the process.

The thing that lunged at him was dark grey it was on two legs and had an electric chain around its neck but what was more terrifying is that it looked like a child.

The thing had a piece of flesh that covered it's one eye but the other one was blood red and it looks like white lines are going downwards underneath the eye in a pattern, and didn't have rows of teeth like you would think, no it had normal size mouth but still sharp teeth in Its mouth. John was about to kick it back in the room but then it said something in a soft raspy voice.

"Kill me"

"What?" thought the teen as slowly looked at it and his mind went slowly blank; all he was focusing on was a word replaying in his mind. Food

He couldn't do anything else and was walking forward his face started to contort to an ever-blank canvass. The collar on its neck activated and that shocked it making the thing screech and run in back to the room. The commotion snapped him out of it when he looked back, he saw Professor Robbert with an object in his hand that looked like a remote.

"What are you doing back here John didn't you know the monorail arrives in 10 minutes?" said Robbert.

"What am I doing?" said John as he looked pale due to the strange burst of hunger that came over him.

"Just another Raubtier, nothing to worry about." replied Robbert.

John wasn't convinced but didn't want to say anything else, so he just took a deep breath and then released it.

"All right thank you Professor, I'll be going now thanks for having me." said John.

As John walked past him, he looked back one last time and his eyes became emotionless as he walked outside the lab and the castle. When he arrived at the gate, he said his farewells to the guards and climbed on the monorail finally heading back to the base.

The cart was empty now, everyone was probably at their home after a long day of hard work. It was still raining and John was confused about it. The dome's weather systems were based on how the earth was before N.R.G so there was even seasonal changing.

The only time it rained this hard and this long is when a natural disaster was going to happen such as tsunami or something.

When John arrived at the base he went straight to bed and fell asleep.

In the base it showed a supply closet as the sound of something being eaten was heard, the dimly lit room showed a silhouette hunched over then an entire arm was seen being dropped on the floor, and a pool of blood was slowly being made under the silhouette...
