of all things dark

Abigael walked through the dark forest heading back to Tuma, she tried hurrying up so the elders wouldn't notice her absence and start a search party to look for her again the second time this week, it would put Loraine and her husband Thomas on the spotlight again and not in the good kind.

On Monday she snuck out of town to go see David but the idiot had found a way to mask himself so she couldn't use a spiritual teleportation spell but had to do it the old fashioned way,she found him in the director's office being scolded , apparently he was found sleeping in the girls dormitory at the orphanage.

At first she thought maybe the kid was finally having some fun and Rachael had finally seen David's blind love for her but then it sounded way good to be true, until she remembered the recent full moon and that's when she really got scared.

Every full moon a very specific hour arrives when power surges into every fairy and releases their wings which could be torment of everlasting pain for anyone who hadn't gone through the rite of passage to welcome the power into the blood stream, the fairies call it the dark hour and the witches call it the witchy hour.

Every fairy is usually really excited about it and that's when most men were cursed and most spells were chanted but perhaps the most exciting part of all was the wings which she personally loved the most ,though the pain before they could actually came your was a pure torment to her back the feeling of freedom on flight was definitely worth it.

The wings of fairies were almost identical to bug wings only bigger and with more veins on the surface.

There was a hoot behind her and she looked behind to see an owl ,she smiled as she pulled her wand out and stared at the creature's large eyes and whispered under her breath

'astemira guelina'

Suddenly a cold breeze blew up her long brunnete hair and she found herself facing a long road with houses on either sides and witches on broomsticks for wind vanes.

She walked quickly towards the blue house to he left and went behind it to the yard. She slowly went up the pipe and jumpy through the window to find a blonde haired little girl waiting inside

"What took you so long?"the girl asked.

"Why? Did they notice I was gone?"

"No, but that doesn't mean I wasn't scared to death"

"Oh relax Julie"

"So? Did you find her? What did she say?"

Abigael looked at her sister unsure of how to answer her question.

"I didn't find her"

Julie looked at her big sister and wondered why she would be so worried as to go looking for an oracle just to see David's future.

It was a really high risk considering the elders called them evil fairies, they were believed to practice magic that didn't come from the ancestors ,that it came from the blood of witches.Julie smiled at Abigael.

"Look David is like a ..... Cockroach he can never really die and can never really survive,I'm sure he'll be fine." Julie said.

Abigael looked at her twelve year old sister ,how exactly was she to tell her that the brother they had known for so many years wasn't even related to them and that his future lay uncertain hidden under the words of a riddle even for a great fairy like mama P.

She remembered when she sauntered at the edge of the forest and entered her dark hut at the edge of a cliff, the cold burning under her skin and her eyes watery due to the humidity in the air. She saw a counter at the end of the room and an old hunchback of a woman behind it.

Her eyes were blue and clear like marbles and her face was skinny and wrinkly especially at the nose and the cheeks. She had long Gray hair indicating that she was an old fairy.

Fairies had long hair beyond even their legs that's how you identified a fairy but most cut it off often to blend in with the humans.

Abigael walked towards her and flashed five dollars at her and placed it on the counter.

"How may I be of service little miss"the lady begun.

"I am looking for mama P"Abigael answered.

The old lady searched the face of her new client ,she looked well above eighteen with her hair looking freshly cut. She tasted her Aura, a fairy ,she wasn't shocked ,the elders always did a shady job in enforcing the law.

"How may I be of service?"she asked again as she took the green notes and stuffed them under her left chest bulge.

"I am looking for ....."Abigael begun and reduced it to a whisper as she neared the woman and watched her sided "...an Oracle."

Mama P looked at the girl before her shocked and walked towards vthe only window in the room and shut it.

"I'm gonna need a little bit more than five dollars Missy"she said.

Abigael sighed as she fished out six more dollars and handed them to the woman.

"Come with me"she told the girl as she walked to what seemed to be a door.

Abigael was led to the back of the shop that seemed darker than normal darkness should have been. The woman pulled out her wand and muttered 'astemira ignitia' under her breath and the tip of the wand lit up to a red flame.

Mama P walked to a locked shelf in the left corner and it automatically clanked open revealing medium sized wooden boxes stacked inside. She picked one and placed it on top of the table in the middle of the room and the shelf suddenly shut closed startling Abigael.

She opened the shutter facing Abigael and the sight Abigael saw led her to scream.

It was a female head with short red hair. It suddenly opened it eyes and Abigael lost her voice and her breathing become hasty and rushed. Mama P took a red liquid in a bowl and poured it on the head as she chanted something slowly under her breath.

The head's eyes turned red and the old lady looked at her.

"Ask it!"she said facing Abigael.

Abigael swallowed her saliva noisly as she cleared her throat.

"I want to know my brother's future"she asked shakily.

"You have no brother"the head answered.

"What do you mean I have no brother?" Abigael asked infuriated.

"Try using his real name" Mama P said.

"David Marinuel" she said looking at the head.

"He is not your brother and I'm afraid I don't know his future."

"What?" Abigael asked shocked.

She looked at the old hunchback and she also looked shocked as she tried to remember something.

"All I know of the boy is the riddle of light and darkness uttered by the great witches of Tumeria,

Of all things dark

Of all things light

Of all things that fade out of sight

As the truth becomes a lie

And the hidden becomes unknown"
