A Side Story

Today marked the 7th year of Selene's stupid attachment to someone who probably doesn't even exist in the real world—her world. She is aware that the most futile thing to do is to wait. Waiting has always been the most challenging part, yet here she is. Every year, she goes back to this almost isolated part of the overgrown forest, hoping that she could see a glimpse of him, a foolish act that makes her feel hopeless. Yet, Selene finds herself going back again and again, hoping that he will make his promise back then.

Selene suddenly lets out a strangled laugh while her chest squeezes painfully tight. How ironic for someone like her who stopped believing in promises that she could still pathetically cling to someone's non-existent oath for almost seven years and, sadly speaking, still counting.

"It's not like he is going back tonight. I shouldn't keep my hopes up," Selene mutters like a petulant child.
