Being Too Soft

Arden escorted me back to my dorm and told me that he has to report everything back to father. There's a possibility that my father would want me to come back home where it's safe. It'll be a shame though, I wanted to learn more knowledge and have fun with my new friends.

The next day, I went through classes normally. Still getting stares. And also students who wanted to gain my favor. I got used to it eventually. Julian, Regan, and Renn asked what happened since I looked so exhausted. I told them it's alright, and they understand.

I'll tell them later when things are going well.

The event that occurred yesterday, solely my fault.

Arden wouldn't get kidnapped if my demon is stronger.

When classes are over, I went to my usual spot away from the public. Outside near a tree where I can be alone. There, I went to the demon realm.

My disappointment toward Cobalus, the goblin I ordered to watch over Arden, affected the entire demons.

Including Io.

He's a demon that's full of pride. Thinking that he's better than anyone. In the end, his snobby attitude made him got caught by the mage.

I let out a sigh as I stare down my demons who bowed in front of me, gazing down to the dark concrete floor.

I'm being too soft toward them.

"... Meditating isn't enough," I started. My voice echoed in the empty void, I saw my demons visibly trembled upon my booming voice that brought a heavy atmosphere. "A threat will be a good choice,"

"..."

My demons remained silent.

"Starting from now, I won't tolerate any more mistakes,"

"!"

The suffocating and heavy air started to detach even more. The demons pressed against the floor, their groans slipped out from their mouths. I crossed my hands, tapping my fingers against my own arm. I stared down at them.

"Cowardliness, incompetence, disobedience...," I murmured. "If I saw that from one of you, the consequence will be severe,"

That's right.

Father reminded me many times about maintaining my demons. They're my pets who needed to be trained. Thoroughly.

When I walked into the dorm room, I was greeted by my three roommates who are eating snacks on the floor. They beamed when they saw me walking in.

"Ezra!" Renn called happily.

I smiled happily and take a seat in between Renn and Regan on the floor. Julian who's sitting in front of me smiled and offered me a snack.

"We were waiting for you,"

"Thanks,"

I took the piece of chocolate and plopped it inside of my mouth.

"You're so filled with mysteries," Regan sighed. "If we asked where have you been, what's been going on, you'll say that it's nothing,"

"Ack," I looked at him dejectedly.

He's right. They're my friends, I know they're worried about me.

"Regan," Julian hushed him. "It's Ezra's privacy. We agreed to be more patient,"

Renn and Regan pouted their lips. I smiled at all of them sheepishly.

"I promise I'll tell all of you. Right now, I have to be strong enough that I don't need to worry about anything else,"

The three of them looked at me as I spoke in a serious tone.

"If I'm stronger than anyone in this world, nothing can hurt anyone that's close to me."
