The Letter

Trenton arrives in front of his mother who was patiently waiting in front of the door watching him with a smile.

"So I see you made friends with the neighbor's."

Trenton grinning back- "Yes I made a new friend today, who happens to be our neighbor, I was surprised to see her after getting off the bus."

His mother stroked his head- "That's good, I'm glad to see you are finally making friends, we should have a family gathering to get to know them better."

Trenton- "Yes, they asked when we're free to get together."

"I'll check and see when your father isn't busy, but if nothing comes up, we should do it this weekend."

Over the year the families grew closer to one another as did Hermione and Trenton who played and read together.

The grangers learned that Trenton's father worked at a travel agency office and about his dream of one day traveling again with Trenton, but was still happy with the family life they set up here. His dad also couldn't help but joke about how he had to keep an eye on his beautiful healthy fit wife who turned heads on her morning jogs which made her blush in embarrassment. They all had a good laugh, Hermione's mom included not at all intimidated as she was very comfortable with herself.

Trenton and Hermione's main hobby was reading as they were trapped in a suburb. Trenton didn't have much access to outdoor activities like hiking and exploring woodlands as he wanted, choosing instead to escape into books with Hermione, much more so than he ever did in the past.

Hermione liked reading books that taught her something whereas he cared more about reading fantasy books to escape from reality.

This wasn't an obstacle though as both were willing to read the other's preference from time to time.

They would enjoy each other's company as they read and talked to one another with the occasional game thrown in for a variety.

Reading was the main activity though as they read side by side. Trenton slowly introduced her to the outdoors through reading, changing up the pace as he took her out to experience the nice sunny days, leaning against a tree together with an open book and a gentle breeze.

As they grew closer they could even be seen reading back to back.

They tried buying the same books and reading together, but Trenton started to think that wasn't good and offered to just read the same one book together. Hermione didn't understand at first how they would do that until Trenton said- "It would be easier if you would just sit in front of me and I look over and we can read together."

Hermione liked the idea, thinking about how they could be on the same page and discuss it as they go along so she agreed and that became their new reading habit.

One day they fell asleep together with Hermione still in his lap when her mom walked in and thought it was the cutest thing. Her father on the other hand was starting to see where this was leading as he intended to wake them up and separate them if it wasn't from a fierce glare from his wife which said if he dared he would pay for it.

After they turned 10 they both experienced some unusual things that they were afraid to tell the other because they didn't wish to scare away their only friend.

It was at this time they received their letters to Hogwarts.

Right after reading the letter, Trenton's house received a knock on the door.

"I'll go see who it is, as for that silly letter just throw it away, probably some sort of scam." his dad said as he walked to the door.

Trenton however gripped the letter tighter when he remembered the accidental magic he did, wondering if it was real after all. At the time he thought he just imagined it and pushed it to the back of his head, choosing to never talk about it so as not to scare those close to him.

His mother gave a concerned look to her son who she noticed seemed disturbed by what he read, before turning to ask who was at the door- "Honey, what's taking so long, who is it?"

Mr. Epperson came back mumbling incoherently looking at the floor.

"Honey? What's wrong?" Mrs. Epperson asked seeing his dazed state.

Gathering himself he looked to his wife and then his son, giving a long meaningful stare.

Trenton folding under his stare asked- "Dad?"

"Anything you would like to tell us, son?" His dad asked.

"I don't think so?" said Trenton confused.

His father just sighed- "Well I feel sad that you hid it from us, though I understand maybe you were a bit skeptical and scared, I just want you to know you can trust and rely on us, okay son?"

Trenton's eyes watered a little hearing the heartfelt message even though he still wasn't sure what was going on.

Mr. Epperson then broke into a grin walking over to give his son a head rub- "Now, now, none of that, this is a happy day, gotta say, son, I'm quite impressed and more than a little jealous, I see you still have that letter in your hand, follow me and bring it along, you too dear, we're going to head over to the Grangers so our guest can further explain to everyone whats going on."

Mrs. Epperson- "Honey? What's all this now?"

Mr. Epperson grinned- "Something amazing, come on now, don't dilly dally, all will be explained at the Grangers."

When they reached the door, it magically opened for them before they could knock, hearing an unknown voice- "We're in the living room."

Trenton weirded out by everything cautiously approached the living area where they saw The Grangers sitting on the couch facing an elder woman.

Hermione looked up seeing Trenton, someone she came to rely on more than anyone else of late, visibly grew happy as she hopped up to go and greet him,- "Trenton!" she exclaimed hugging him.

Trenton smiling, hugged her back- "Hermione." he then whispered- "Do you know what's going on?"

Hermione shook her head- "No, but I'm glad you're here."

Mr. Epperson went over to greet the Grangers- "So did you guys see it yet?"

Mr. Granger- "See what? Do you know what this is about?"

Mr. Epperson grinned- "Good I didn't miss anything, come, let's all gather around and listen to what this lady has to say."

"Yes, please do, and thank you, for starters I'll like to once again introduce myself to those of you who don't yet know, My name is Minerva McGonagall, but I'm most formally known as Professor McGonagall."
