"What about a documentary on dogs?"
"Yeah sure!"
Aaric smirked when he heard that she agreed. He thought to himself, 'Wifey, for how long are you going to watch?'
"Okay… so let me see where I have kept it… Mmm, yes here it is!"
The couple laid on either side of the bed. Though it was a huge king sized bed which could easily fit in five to six people but still Sasha was still feeling a bit hesitant. When Aaric did not move an inch towards her, she felt relieved. She tried to focus on the movie. Although the movie was too engaging and emotional, Sasha still could not concentrate fully. She would glance at the person who was sitting on the other side and then shift her gaze on the space between them.
Aaric was fully aware why she was peeking at him from time to time. But he did not point it out. He looked at his watch and saw that it was half past three and the maid had not brought in their meal. While looking for his phone to make a call, a slender hand reached towards his right hand and tapped him. He glanced down and found that Sasha was handing him his phone. He swiftly took it from her hand but the moment his skin touched hers, she felt an indescribable feeling bubbling inside her.
In shock, she quickly retracted her hand and tried to rub that part which touched his skin. No matter how much she tried, it was still warm. Aaric could see through all her emotions from the moment she retracted her hand. Afraid that she might not share the reason and would shut herself from him, he stopped himself from asking. He was just about to dial the number, when there was a knock on the door.
Aunt Bell came inside with a few dishes on a rolling tray table. Behind her another maid was following her with two big bowls completely filled with different ice-cream scoops.
Aaric gestured to them to keep it beside the bed and leave. Knowingly both of them closed the door after going out.
He stood up from the bed and pressed a button on Sasha's side. A table turned upwards and adjusted itself in front of Sasha. Quickly from the other side too, a table joined it. Sasha was still amazed and gawked at the events happening in front of her eyes until she heard Aaric.
Aaric cleared his throat and pulled the moving tray towards the bed. The upper shelf of the tray had three dishes and the lower shelf was having two ice-cream bowls. He picked the bowls and placed them inside the small freezer.
When Aaric opened the door of the small refrigerator, it was then that Sasha realised that it was not a wooden cupboard. He uncovered the lid and let her smell the aroma of her favourite dishes. They were just two simple dishes with soup, but it looked very delicious and its fragrance whetted the appetite.
One of the dishes was her favorite Japanese dish, Tonkotsu which is made from simmered pork marrow or pork bone. Crammed with ramen noodles and pimped up with spring onions, burnt garlic oil and bean sprouts. Then topped off with a seasoned soy egg. It looked so appetizing that Sasha started to drool just by looking at it.
The other one was a Vietnamese dish, Pho. It is a soup consisting of broth, rice noodles, herbs, and meat, sometimes chicken. As Aaric wanted Sasha to have a healthy appetite which might also help her in healing her throat, Aunt Bell had additionally infused the soup with heavy aromatics like star anise, ginger and garlic. She also seasoned it with fish sauce. Fish is filled with omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins such as D and B2, so for a person having low metabolism, it is very good for them. Especially Sasha who needed nutritious food items.
Both of the dishes were her favorite and nutrient enriched. As for the soup, it was a normal hot n sour which had ample amounts of vegetables in it. It was less salty and made in low oil to avoid any kind of throat problem in Sasha. Although every dish looked very simple, it was a sumptuous meal.
As Sasha smelt the whiff of the tempting fragrance, she could not control herself from digging into it. While she was just busy enjoying the food just by staring at it, her stomach made some sound as it growled...
