Chapter 6

Alister looks around the construction site, making sure that it is clear. Alister steps inside the site and looks around at the scaffolding, workbenches and construction machines such as cranes and the like. Alister walks cautiously as he took out his scroll to use as a torch to help him see. "There must be something that the authorities missed" He said to himself as he looks around and steps inside the building.

The building was dark the only light was coming from Alister's scroll as well as the moonlight streaming through some nearby windows. Alister was not a big fan of being in dark places ever since he was kid, he felt a pit in his stomach the same feeling that he felt while working in the dust caves for the Schnee Dust Company. Alister's hands start shaking as he walked deeper into the building. He walks into a bedroom then Alister feels something brush up against his leg, Alister jumps a bit then he shines the light of his scroll on his leg.

Alister sighs in relief as it was just a kind stray cat, the cat was ragged looking with patches of fur missing and what would be a snow-white coat is covered in dirt. Alister gently picks up the cat and puts it on his shoulder "Hey little buddy, it's dangerous around here" Alister said, he was calmer now that he had some form of company.

The stray sat on Alister's shoulder then it pointed it's paw out into a dark room then it hisses and leaps off Alister's shoulder and runs off into the darkness. Alister takes a step to go after the cat but then he stops when he hears a kid's voice scream out "Help me". Alister's blood ran cold as he takes in a deep breath "Shit" he said as he looks around trying to find the source of the child screaming out. "Help me, please for the love the gods"

Alister knows this is a trap but he also wondered if there was an actual lost child in the building. "God dammit" he whispers to himself "I hear you! I am a huntsman. Just tell me where you are, and I'll come to you. Just keep calm and I will find you" Alister yells out. As Alister walks through the building with each step the wood beneath him creaks as the sound of a child crying in the distance filled the halls.

Meanwhile in Noki's house she was fast asleep in her bed, but she was woken up feeling something drop on her face. She wipes it off with her finger "Mud?" she looks up and sees a pool of mud on her ceiling as more drops on her face. The mud slowly forms into a face that stares at Noki then the puddle falls on top of Noki as she lets out a scream as the mud covers her whole body. Noki tries desperately to dig a hole in the mud for her to breathe, the mud pours into her mouth, nostrils and ears. Her body bloating due the mud filling her body up. Drowning in mud, Noki's body goes limp then her eyes roll back. The mud then takes control of Noki's bloated corpse then the mud shambles Noki's body out of her room.

Alister was getting closer to the crying child's voice then the crying stops, Alister stops "Kid? Are you okay? Where are you?" Alister asks as he looks around "Am I near you?". Alister was not paying attention behind him then Alister hears someone sniffling behind him. Alister jerks around and sees a small girl standing behind him, Alister he removes his mask as he knows it would scare and already frightened child. "Hey there" Alister said as he leans down and checks over the little girl's face for any injuries. She looks unharmed in fact she does not look frightened at all. She had her arms behind her back, Alister was surprised that she was not hurt. The girl herself had a plain looking sunflower colour dress with black school sandals on and long brown hair with a fringe that covers her eyes.

Alister shows the girl a kind and gentle smile "What are you doing out here at night?" Alister asked, the girl sounded nervous as she looks away from him "Mummy and daddy were fighting and it scared me, so I ran away from home and ended up home" She replied. Alister let out a gentle sigh as he gently rubs her head "What's your name kiddo? I'm Alister" he holds out his hand for her to shake.

The girl takes a step back "Bonnie" she replied as tears roll down her cheeks, Alister noticed her tears then he takes off his gauntlets and wipes her tears away. "Well Miss Bonnie, there's no need to cry. Tell me where your parents are, and I'll take you home. How does that sound?" he smiles brightly at her. Bonnie lifts her head "okay, Mummy and daddy are in there" she said and points into a dark room "They tried to find me, but I found them first and I was angry at them".

Alister looks into the room then his eyes widen in fear at the sight that he saw before him "What the fuck?" there were two corpses, one man and one woman. Their bodies were tied up and strapped to two chairs, their guts have spilled out onto the floor, blood splattered everywhere and their tongues hanging out from gashes under their chins. The bodies looked fresh.

"I've had many mummies and daddies before, but they always got so angry at me. It's annoying trying to find new mummies and daddies when the old ones aren't good enough. But getting rid of the old mummies and daddies is easy, I just call the mud man and he gets rid of them for me however he said he was busy tonight. Will you be my new papa?" Bonnie asks as Alister turns around and sees Bonnie with a wide grin on her face then she shows him her arms that were turned into sharp blades. Bonnie lunges at Alister as she cackles.
