Chapter 7

Alister barely has time to put his mask back on as he is dodging the child's wild attacks, Bonnie is slashing away at Alister with her blade arms with a childishly gleeful look on her face. "Be my new papa" Bonnie said repeatedly as she starts slashing at Alister's legs, Alister did not attack her because he does not want to hit Bonnie because she is just a child. "I don't want to hit a kid!" Alister yells at Bonnie. Bonnie "Kid?" she stops attacking Alister "I'm not a kid, I'm not a kid you dipshit" her voice turns from a small child's to that of a full grown woman as she screams at him. Bonnie suddenly lunges and screams at Alister before he could react and activate his aura, she lands a few cuts on his chest and arms which immediately begin bleeding. Bonnie coughs and clears her throat as she returns to the childlike voice "I'm just small for my age of thirty" Bonnie giggles. Alister looks at Bonnie "You're pretty bad at lying if that's what you're trying to do, kid"

Bonnie stares at Alister "Mama and Papa taught me to never tell a lie" Alister realised that he was not dealing with some crazy child but a crazy adult that acts like one. Alister takes a step back "Why do I get all the shitty jobs?" he said to himself as he watches what Bonnie was going to do next "And one last thing, quit calling me "kid" you jackoff" Bonnie glares at Alister as a twisted and angry look comes across her face. Alister sighs "I'm sorry, but I'm not going to let you kill me. Let alone be your dad. I'm putting a stop to this right now" Alister cracks his knuckles as he steps forward. Bonnie stands still as she looks up at him.

"You going to try and kill me? Because the last one who tried, well it didn't end well. What was his name again? Oh yeah. It was The Bloodhound or something like that" she grins as she readies her blades. Alister stopped for a moment then he puts his gauntlets back on "I see" He said as he clenches his fists "That really pisses me off. Because now I have to tell his old man that his kid is dead" he swiftly kicks Bonnie in the gut and sends her flying down the hallway "That just isn't fair for a parent to be told their kid is gone for good"

Bonnie tumbles and rolls on the floor then she got up and dashes down the hallway, this time she transforms her arms into a pair of morning stars "You're gonna die for that!" she screams out as she jumps into the air and swings the morning stars down at Alister. Alister looks up at her then he jumps backwards "She's pretty quick" he thought to himself, Bonnie lands on the ground them she turns her hands into the ends of a sledgehammer. Bonnie starts swinging at Alister's legs again, as Alister constantly jumps backwards he sees an open window then a giant hand that comes through it to grab him. Alister's eyes widen "Oh shit" the hand grabs him and pulls him outside then it throws him down the courtyard and through a fence.

"Muddy" Bonnie gleefully yells out. The pile of mud, still wearing Noki's skin walks over to where it threw Alister. Bonnie leaps out the open window and skips beside the mud creature. Bonnie looks up at it "This your latest victim? She's cute" Bonnie giggled; the mud turns it's head then it simply nods in response. Alister slowly gets up, "What the fuck was that?" he looks at his now muddied clothes "Mud? Ugh fucking great" Alister said as he stood back up. As Alister dusts himself off and get his looks around to find he is the academy's garden. Alister sees the two walking towards him then he looks at the mud wearing Noki's skin, Alister glares at the duo then Bonnie smirks "Muddy just kills and drowns people in mud then he wears their skin until it rots and fall off. Then he kills again".

Alister charges at the mud and punches it in the chest, his hand gets stuck but he feels a person's body inside the mud. Alister jumps back, taking his hand out of the gauntlet. Just as Alister lands Bonnie turns her hands into hammers again the she dashes at Alister then she swings at him and lands a clean hit on his stomach. Then the mud extends it's arm and grabs Alister again and starts flinging him into trees, walls and the ground as Alister screams out in pain. Alister's aura is starting to run low (aura acts very much like a shield and is the main power source for semblances) Alister is thrown through another fence. Alister slowly gets up, his body battered and bruised, his left arm is broken and his mask cracks and falls off.

Alister grits his teeth "I don't have much aura left, however there is a body underneath that mud. If I can get in close and stick my hands in it's gross fucking face. I can kill it, then there's the brat. I only got enough aura for one use so it's best to try and get rid of her first without using my semblance." He thought as he stands up "But I can't take anymore hits otherwise I run out of aura then it's game over" he stares at the two again. "Shit, how am I going to go about this? I need some sort of distraction to get their attention then that'll give me an opening" He thinks as he looks around for anything that could help him.

Bonnie looks like she is ready to attack Alister again then all of a sudden bright light turns on as a police aircraft hovers above Bonnie and the mud. "Stay right there and don't move" a voice said from the speakers of the aircraft, "muddy, you know what to do" Bonnie said with an annoyed expression on her face. The mud extends it's arm out at the aircraft, Alister spotting his opportunity rushes over to the mud and digs his hand into it's face then he blasts his most powerful poison gas into the persons face. Bonnie's eyes widen as she turns to face Alister "you bastard!" she lets out a primal scream of rage as she is about to stab Alister but she is hit with a tranquiliser then she falls to the ground, unconscious. Alister takes his hand out of the mud and flicks his hand to get rid of some of it. The mud slides off slowly to reveal that it was a young man, Alister then spots two fox ears on the man and a similar S.D.C branding. Alister's eyes widen as he screams out in pain then he holds his broken arms.

The aircraft lands then a few officers come out and check the scene. "we got calls that there was fight going on here. Get the stretcher we have someone who's injured" one of them said as another two started tending to Alister. Alister nods "Yeah, I was here looking for a missing person by the name of Dimitri. My scroll is in my pocket and so is my huntsman's licence" He said as he was put onto a stretcher. The officer takes out Alister's scroll and licence then looks at the photo of Dimitri, Alister sees Bonnie getting put in restraints and the young fox faunas with a few officers standing over their body to check if he was alive. "Don't bother" Alister yells out "He's dead".

A few days later Alister was sitting in a bed with a cast on his arm, giving out a statement as well as answering questions that the police had asked him. He told them everything that he knew then they told Alister to leave telling Dimitri's father about his son's death to them. Alister nods then he sighs as the left "shit, now I gotta speak to Riyaz" Alister said as he picked up his scroll then he calls Riyaz.

Instead he gets Riyaz's messenger tone, Alister groans "Hey, asshole. The jobs is done, Dimitri is dead but the police said they'd handle telling his father about his dead son. However, silver lining is we caught the killer and killed her friend. They'll be put to justice and hopefully his son can rest in peace" Alister ends the message as a doctor comes in to check on Alister. "How are you feeling, my boy?" The doctor asked, he was a kind, older gentleman that took Alister in when he was in the police station a few days ago.

Alister smiles at the doctor "I'm feeling pretty good, doc. I saw your son yesterday; he's upgrading my gauntlets and fixing my mask. Doctor Cal, I promise as soon as I get healed up. I'll pay you back" Alister felt a bit guilty that Doctor Cal and his son have been taking care of him for free. Doctor Cal laughed as he strokes his grey beard "You better, young man" Cal smiled as he ruffles Alister's hair. "Many huntsman and huntresses come here either for my son's skills as a mechanic or my skills as a doctor, usually both. Never was one for crazy adventures. But helping people out has brought me much joy" Doctor Cal said with a soft smile, he looks at Alister "I'm curious, boy. Why did you become a hunter?" he asked.

Alister looks up at the ceiling "Back home, Pa and his daughter Wrench took me in. I wasn't gonna make it as a mechanic because I just never good at it, but the old man must've seen something in me, and he trained me how to fight. See Pa was a retired huntsman and he taught me everything he knew. Of course then I went and trained in Atlas to become a huntsman. But in short I became a huntsman to make him proud" Alister smiles as he closes his eyes. Doctor Cal looks at Alister then at his cast "Do you think you're making him proud?" Doctor Cal asks. Alister opens his eyes then he looks at the doctor "I hope so, sometimes I doubt myself but I try my best even when it isn't enough" Alister looks at his cast then straight a head of him "Every time I'm on a job, something goes wrong. Someone gets hurt, I'm too late or I fail. But for some reason I just keep pressing on" Alister gently rubs his cast.

Doctor Cal nods as he walks towards the door "We all have to do our best even when it isn't enough, we have to press forward. Sure beats giving up" Doctor Cal waves as he leaves the room. Alister grips his cast as he smirked "I hope I'm doing good by you old man" he said as he looks out the window. Cog knocks on the door then calmly walks in with Alister's gauntlets, Cog was the same age as Alister, a bit shorter than Alister, black hair with goggles on his head, a jumper wrapped around his waist, plain white tank top and baggy jeans. "I got your gauntlets done, they're much lighter now but they're less durable. They were a little too big for you so I made it so they'd fit better" Cog looked nervous as he looks away.

Alister picks one of the gauntlets up then he looks at every single nook and cranny "You did a great job, did you make the attachment I asked for? Ya know the one where I can fire small canisters of my gas at people?" Alister asks then he accidently presses a button that fired a small canister out and it smashes against the door. This makes Cog flinch and jump a bit as he ducks despite completely missing him, "Oh shit, my bad! Still that's really cool" Alister said as he drags his fingers along a tube that connects to the knuckles of the gauntlets where the canister fired from. Cog blushes out of embarrassment as he sits beside Alister on a chair

"Thank you, I worked really hard on them. Your mask should be fixed by tomorrow" he said as he looks down. Alister chuckled as he gently punches Cog's arm which makes Cog jolt then he looks at Alister then he smiles "Come on dude, I'm serious. You did a great job. My friend back in Atlas, her name is Wrench would absolutely love this" Alister said as he took photos of the gauntlets and sent them to Wrench.

Cog smiles nervously as he looks at Alister "I've never really been good at dealing with people, machines I can handle. I can fix machines, weapons and the like. But my father is more of a "people person" he's so cool" Cog said as he looks down at his feet with a small smile on his face. Alister smiles at Cog "I looked up to my old man as well, I'm not all that good with social situations either. I can get by in a conversation but deep down I get a bit anxious, I totally get what you mean Cog" Alister smiles as he puts his hand on Cog's shoulder.

Cog keeps staring at his feet as he looks away "But I can't help but shake the feeling that I'm different, like something is wrong with me" he said as he crosses his legs. Alister gently pats Cog's shoulder "Well it's because you are different" Cog flinches then he lowers his head as he heard that "But that doesn't make it a bad thing. It's just how your brain is wired, there's nothing wrong with you being you"

Alister said as Cog lifts his head then he looks at Alister. Alister turns his head to look out the window "I'm not an expert on these things and I can only give you advice on what I've done. However, you're different, but then again so is everyone else. Embrace it" Alister looks back at Cog, Cog took out a notebook and wrote what Alister said down. Alister sees that Cog has a notebook then he looks at Cog "What's that notebook for?" he asks, Cog looks at Alister then he looks back down at the notebook "Oh this? It's just book that I write my ideas down for things I want to make" Cog replied.

Alister quickly snatches it off Cog and starts flicking through the notebook, Cog tried getting it back again blushing in embarrassment "Give it back!" Cog yelled out. Alister reads through the book, it was full of all kinds of weapon, machine and vehicle ideas along with blueprints. Alister was amazed at how many ideas Cog has written down "Holy shit, you have this many ideas in that head of yours?" Alister asked as he handed the book back to Cog. Cog takes the book back then he looks away "Y-yeah, it's just we don't have the materials nor do I have the experience to make them" Cog said as his blush turns a deeper red. "I've got more if you want to read them?" Cog asks as he stands up and looks at Alister.

Alister nods as he smiles at Cog "Sure thing, I got plenty of time to read. Might as well read something interesting"

Fact: Wrench always worries about Alister whenever he goes on a job because she sees him as a brother and worries that he won't come home like her father. Whenever Pa was away for work, she took over as carer and even helped him learn to read and write at a young age.
