I Have To Go

Alex was looking forward to his daughter being born for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, Claire had gotten progressively more miserable as the pregnancy progressed between backaches, fatigue, and swollen ankles. He hated seeing her like that since there was very little he could do to help her.

Their schedules didn't match up very well since she worked days and he worked nights. They had maybe an hour of overlap between the time she got home and the time he left Tuesday-Friday.

He was able to be more helpful on Monday nights, Saturday mornings, and Sundays but he still felt like it wasn't enough. Especially because her hormones were out of whack and she got moody or cried seemingly at random.
