The Odd Ones Out

Alex knew he couldn't actually do anything about that woman as much as he might want to. He had been out of therapy for a while now but he might want to set up another appointment to try and work through this because his anger was all-consuming.

He didn't want to be angry. He wanted to move on with his life and put this terrible new information behind him permanently.

"I wish there was," he said darkly.

Cody let out a bitter laugh. "You and me both. I don't know if the others feel the same way or not. They don't have to adapt to the outside quite as much as we do since they're in relationships with other Numbers. We're the odd ones out so we have to stick together."

He was certainly right about that. They were the only ones among their peers that had children aside from Ray but his situation was different because he got out such a long time ago. It was nice having an ally to navigate the world of parenthood with.
