Stuck in the Elevator (3)

KNIGHT

"Knight, Knight, Knight," Some faraway voice chanted. "Wake up, please. Please please please…"

I wasn't dead? I wasn't free?

With much effort, I ploddingly lifted my heavy eyelids, gaze docking into pools of hazel. Tears streamed down Alana's beautiful face, sobs racking from her chest. I tried sitting up and failed.

"My meds," I croaked. "I need my meds.

She only cried, seeming to not even hear my words.

Wait.

My head flew up. "Wha—What did you just call me?"

Her hands—so small and fragile—touched my face. I didn't mean to—I really didn't—but I flinched back. Something like hurt shone in her eyes but she kept whispering to her self, "You're safe, you're safe, you're safe," over and over again.

"Alana," my voice was strangulated as I tried to roll over to one side. "Meds,"

She scrambled up, hands searching around on the tiled floor. "Where?"
