Somebody Was Following Me

ALANA

I kept my head down and pretended everything was normal. Nobody questioned me or so much as talked to me throughout the day. At last, it was evening time and I was free to go home and snuggle up with my half-finished novel from yesterday night.

Reading gave me peace of mind. It felt like holding onto invisible reins and going as far into the forest as one pleased. Experiencing what it felt like to be in different places, times, worlds and situations. The splendour of diverse cultures drew me in. What I loved the most was knowing there were people out there with similar childhoods to mine and Knight's.

That is, if you believed the theory that fiction was the exaggerated version of reality. I totally did.
