50,000 years ago, Hell was destroyed because of too much Foul from the resentment of the souls that later turned to Soul Eaters and devoured everything in their wake, leaving nothing of Hell. The gods above in Heaven, in order to take care of the newly-died souls, created the Afterlife Department comprised of grim reapers. 

Huo Ling was delivering food that day when he met Yi Bing and the guy gave him a warning. When he arrived to the customer's unit, he was killed.

"… Jin Wu wanted for you to request for Ruan Yu to be stationed in the infirmary with the 'illnesses' related to souls, like what happened just now?" Huo Ling said after he heard what Yi Bing said.

Yi Bing just received Jin Wu's message, in which Jin Wu is suggesting for the grim reapers of the Afterlife Department to be treated by a doctor which specializes in the souls, to which Hai Ba has a little knowledge in.

"En." Yi Bing nodded in affirmation. "Jin Wu has a point, though. Soul attacks have been frequent, like what happened to Xin Wen before." He said.
