The Escape

Smith walked through the hallway with the man's right arm slung across his shoulder. Voices and footsteps continued to get louder behind him. Smith said. "Sar, Iu nead reeinfarcemants ovar har."

The man who was walking alongside Smith looked over at Smith and thought. "Who is he talking to? I'm the only one here."

Smith said with shock. "Whut?! Thay wewre alraady sant?!" He turned to look behind him and said to himself. "Iz thaat tham?"

The man who was walking alongside Smith thought. "Is something going on? Why did we stop?"

Smith said. "Mi mahp daesn't shouw aney fraendlaes!" He aimed his strange weapon in the direction of the footsteps and voices. He said. "Whach meenz theze guays ar enamiez!"

Smith looked over at the man who was walking alongside him. He grabbed the man's arm and took it off his shoulder.

The man thought. "What? What's going on?"

Smith looked over at the man and said. "Iu'l hald tham oph!" He pointed at the end of the hallway and said. "Gou. Gat ouwt ov har!"

The man looked at Smith with a very confused expression as he thought. "What is this guy saying? Why does he keep pointing over there? Am I supposed to go over there?"

Smith looked at the man then looked back at the direction the footsteps and voices were coming from. The footsteps and voices continued to get louder.

Smith looked back at the man and said. "Youw nead touw gat ouwt ov har! Nouw!" He shoved the man backwards and then pointed to the end of the hallway as he said. "Gou!"

The man looked at Smith and then looked at the end of the hallway where Smith had been pointing to as he thought. "So, I need to go that way?" He looked back at Smith as he thought. "What is he going to do though?"

Smith looked at the man and then looked back at the direction the footsteps and voices were coming from. The man then did the same.

The man saw ten armored figures emerge from the adjacent hallway. All ten of the armored figures looked the same as the ones he had seen before. They were all completely covered in black armor.

The man thought. "I need to get out of here!" He looked at Smith and then thought. "No. We need to get out of here!"

Smith looked back at the man and said. "Ruwn!"

The man looked at Smith and thought. "What is he just standing there for? We need to get out of here already!"

Smith pointed the strange weapon he had at the man and said. "Ruwn alraady!"

The man looked at the strange weapon fearfully and thought. "Why is he pointing his weapon at me? Aren't we on the same side?"

Smith said. "Iu saad ruwn alraady!" He fired his weapon. A projectile hit the ground by the man's feet.

The man backed away and thought. "Does he intend to fire that thing at me?"

Smith pointed the strange weapon at the man and said. "Ruwn, youw ideout!"

The man backed away and then ran as he thought. "I don't understand. Why did he point his weapon at me?" He looked back as he ran.

The ten armored figures all carried strange weapons and pointed them at Smith.

The man thought. "Why is he just standing there?" He suddenly stopped and thought as he stared at Smith. "Why isn't he turning invisible?"

The armored figures fired their strange weapons. Smith fell toward the ground.

The man thought. "I see now." He began to run again as he thought. "He sacrificed himself to save me." He looked back at Smith as he ran.

Smith had fallen onto one knee. He fired his strange weapon into the crowd of armored figures.

An armored figure fell toward the ground but nine still remained. The other nine fired at Smith again.

The man looked ahead again. He looked toward the end of the hallway as he thought. "Why? Why would he sacrifice his life for mine? Why couldn't we both escape together?!"

His left leg ached as he continued to run. His body moved more sluggishly. He thought as he tried to withstand the pain. "I can't stop! If I stop it would have all been for nothing!" He looked back at Smith as he continued to run.

Smith had collapsed onto the ground. His body remained still.

There were eight armored figures left. They all pointed their strange weapons at the man running away.

The man looked in front of him. He looked at the end of the hallway and thought. "No! I need to get away! I must get away!" He continued to run while six projectiles flew by him. The seventh tore through his left shoulder and the eighth tore through his right leg. His body then fell. It fell in the intersection between the two hallways.

He could hear the footsteps and voices of the eight armored figures behind him. He thought as he laid on the ground. "Dang it! I refuse to lose! I refuse to give up!" He attempted to lift his body off the ground.

An explosion occurred in the building. The whole building shook.

The man collapsed back onto the ground. He stared at the floor beneath him as he thought. "What is it this time?"

The man heard footsteps and voices from his left. He thought as he listened to the sounds. "More soldiers?!" He lifted his head and looked over to his right.

A squad of four armored figures came in from the left side. They wore sand colored armor that covered their entire body and they had strange weapons in their hands.

The man thought as he looked at the sand colored armored figures. "Who are these guys?!"

The sand colored armored figures rushed through the hallway toward the man's location.

The man thought as he stared at the sand colored armored figures. "I don't know who these guys are so they aren't on my side." He looked in front of him and then to his right as he thought. "I need to get out of here while I have the chance!"

In front of the man the hallway with the black armored figures continued and to the right was a short hallway that led to a destroyed wall.

The man thought as he stared at the destroyed wall. "I can finally leave this place." He attempted to get off the ground but suddenly stopped himself and thought. "No. I should stay down. If I get up I'll get hit again." He began to crawl toward the destroyed wall.

He crawled inch by inch toward the destroyed wall. The sounds of mini explosions and the strange weapons being fired could be heard from behind him. As he continued to crawl a few projectiles flew by him and one even hit him in the back.

The man's body cried out in pain as he continued to crawl. It begged him to stop. He thought as he continued to crawl. "I'm... I'm almost there! Only... only a little more..." His body felt weak and his clothes were drenched in blood.

He continued to crawl toward the destroyed wall. His movements got slower and his consciousness began to fade. He thought as he stared at the distance between himself and the destroyed wall. "Not... yet! Not... yet! I'm almost... there!"

The man's body collapsed onto the floor his arms and legs could no longer move. He stared at the light that came from the destroyed wall. The light that came from the outside.

He thought as he stared at the light. "I can't... fail! I won't... fail!" His chin touched the ground. He attempted to use his chin to move his body but it was no use, his body didn't move.

The man's eyes tried to close and he thought. "No... It can't... end... here..." He attempted to use his fingers to move his body but it was no use, his body didn't move.

The man could no longer resist. His eyes began to close. While his eyes were closing he could see a figure from the opening in the destroyed wall. A figure with a greatsword strapped to their back.
