"Class is over for today. I will come back in 30 minutes to talk about the dorms, so please wait until then. For students other than the ones I have to meet, please leave before that time."
Ms. Serah walks away from the lectern and shuts the door as she walks out.
As soon as she closes the door, Tachino, the straightforward student lets out a huge sigh.
"Damn, how did I get a D grade? Am I ugly or something? Do they grade on your looks, too?"
Another boy right next to him, seemed like he was getting along with Tachino.
"It's okay bro, I have the same grade as you!"
"Wow, really? Thank you so much!"
...Why is he thanking him?
"My name Ichiha, nice to meet you!"
"I'm Tachino, nice to meet you too!"
They both let out a similar atmosphere, happy, laid-back, not to mention, naive.
Most people in its school have names from Japan, but like me, there are some people with different names; such as names from olden-day France, England, and Russia. They're all "dead" countries, but our ancestors still passed down the names from the 2000s. I'm supposed to have a Japanese name, but it seems like my name is a little off from its names.
Most of the girls have formed their unofficial-official groups. Some girls were laughing, some girls were extremely nervous when talking but slowly loosened up as they talked more. And then they'd left the classroom.
Some girls and boys have isolated from other people, quietly leaving the classroom, using the least amount of sound necessary. Kasuna also seemed to stay inside the classroom. Until she got a "Ding" on her phone. She probably got a message from someone.
I wait and I see about 2 other people are staying in class. Oh, is that Tachino? Does he not have a parent? And a girl, with short, blonde hair, ocean blue eyes. She seems disturbed by Tachino looking at her, with hearts in his eyes.
"Oh, you're all here."
She was 5 minutes late but didn't mention that at all.
Ms. Serah enters the class with 3 students. She brought a notebook with her, and set it out on top of the lectern.
"Now, I'm going to ask you a question before we start. Do you guys want to stay in dorms?"
We all node as a response.
"Good, now look at your map, can you try to locate where the dorms are then? If the maps are too complicated now, I will point to the direction of where the dorms are."
She points out to the north direction from school, and I see two tall buildings lining up next to others. One is the girls' and the other is the boys'; I think.
"The girls' dorms are on the left, the boys are right. Curfews are 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. It's not that strict, actually. There is a convenience store on the first floor, including a spa, and a cafeteria. We have courts for tennis, soccer, basketball, football, and the indoor swimming pool on the floor 100, which is the last floor for each building. The entertainment facilities are on floor 2 to 10."
"Whoa! That's awesome."
Tachino seems overly excited, almost about to go up and down from happiness.
"Do you need to pay for to stay in dorms?"
The blonde girl asks, and Ms. Serah smirks.
"No, it is all government-funded, you will not have to pay. Also, the school will give an allowance, which is $200 a month, which you can survive since the prices are low on everything here on school grounds for meals and everything else. If you would have anything packed from your house, say it to the front desk manager, and the employees will send the things you need within 3 days. You can find more of the dorm things in the student handbook."
$200 each month? that will be about $2,400 each year for a student and with about more than 1,000 people in the dorms that will be about 2 million or more.
"Let's get straight to the point. The only rule is that you can't go outside the school grounds. When going outside the dorms, you will have to wear a specific wristband all day long. If you step your foot outside, then you will be suspended from school for 2 weeks. We have contacted your guardians, for now, so you are allowed to go home. That's all. Start by getting a dorm from the front desk and follow the instructions they tell you."
"Oh yeah! I get to live freely on my own, without having to worry about any money problems!" Tachino says with such joy.
"Your parents don't send you money?"
Ah, it's the girl with blonde eyes. It seems as if they're getting along in a way. I follow them from behind, quietly.
"No way! My parents are in the capital, and they told me to live on my own if I'm going to be a Trion, so here I am. I guess it's their way of telling me to get ready for the future."
"Oh, I never told you to leave, Kian."
Ms. Serah, can't you see, I want to go and rest already. I'm tired from all those lectures about the dorms.
"What is it, Ms. Serah."
"Now, now don't be so emotionless, why don't you try smiling for once?"
"For what may I ask?"
"For getting the seventh letter on your grading." Ms. Serah smirks like she's enjoying all this.
"I'm not sure what you're talking about Ms. Serah. Can I ask you if it is fortunate or unfortunate that I got that grading?"
"I can't tell you that, or else it'll be no fun."
Ah, that's a pain in the ass.
