'Damn! So rude!' I woke up to find myself chained in an eerie room with no windows.
My vision was blurry from being forcefully knocked unconscious as I tried to regain my sight by shaking my head lightly.
Once I can see clearly again, I started to observe my surroundings.
From what I can see, the room was likely to be an old storage room that was temporarily changed to a torture room? An interrogation room? My imagination soared as I imagined countless scenarios of what might happen to me.
A creaking sound resounded within the room as a boy and a girl who seemed no older than 18 came into the room. Their hands were tightly gripped around a handle on their waist, ready to strike at any given moment.
Once again we awkwardly stared at each other until the boy decided to break the ice between us.
"Are you a human or are you a demon?" The boy's eyes were undeniably filled with hatred and uncertainty towards someone who he just met.
'I wonder what happened to him...' I thought, pitying the boy.
'What is this demon they keep talking about? I don't remember demons being a thing... unless....'
"For your information, no, I am not a demon. Second, I don't even know what demons are. Third, why the heck are you guys carrying katanas around for?!"
The girl gave the boy an 'I told you! But you just won't listen!' look. Her grip relaxed somewhat as her tense face loosened.
The boy certainly did look a little stupid as his fierce angry look turned into an apologetic and gentle look, his grip on his katana also relaxed slightly.
They looked at each other before the girl took out a key and took off the chains that were binding me to the wall.
I rubbed my wrists and pouted at the duo.
Their cheeks reddened as they turned to the side, pretending to cough.
"Anyways, that was really... how do I put it... Stupid? Can you guys tell me what demons are now?"
The boy looked conflicted for a moment before sighing.
"Demons... are... well, demons are a carnivorous, vampiric species whose primary diet is humans, consuming the flesh and blood of humans makes them stronger, but their only fatal weaknesses are sunlight which burns them to ash, wisteria, which weakens them, and Nichirin blades, those are the only ways to kill demons. There is a private organization called the demon slayer corps whose only job is to exterminate the demons, and we're part of it, which is why we carry katanas made from Scarlet crimson ore and scarlet crimson iron sand."
"That sounds scary." For someone who already died once, dying a second time isn't really a big deal anymore. I wonder if Muzan counts as a demon?
"Hello? Can you hear me?"
"Oh sorry, I spaced out for a second. What did you say?"
I looked into the boy's eyes who I assume was the one who knocked me out.
"Nevermind. Anyways, do you need a place to stay? It's extremely dangerous for you to stay outside when it's night time, that's when demons come out to hunt. You can stay with me and my sister."
"Really? Then I thank you in advance!" I gave the boy a smile.
"Oh! We haven't introduced ourselves yet, right? My name is Hino Akira." He extended his free hand towards me.
I shook it.
He then walked behind the girl as he patted her head.
"And this is my sister! She's really shy so please take care of her. Her name is Hino Sayuri."
"Onii-chan! I'm not a little kid anymore! So stop treating me like one!" She whined.
Sayuri slapped her brother's hands before shyly extending her hand towards me for a handshake.
I smiled at their interactions with each other.
"My name is Kamiya Katsumi! I'll be in your care."
