Time is Up

With time running out, Xan finally decided to go for broke. He jumped down the hole and slid down. The slide was really long and took him about three minutes to finally exit. Once he exited, he found himself in a large vault filled with treasures! He only had twenty-five minutes left.

"Jackpot!" he said. Just as he was about to start grabbing things, he stopped himself and inspected the room. There was no way he would be able to take everything in this room. As he was considering what he could take he spied a sign on the wall that read "There are lots of fish in the sea but only one is right for me." Xan's face dropped, "What a stupid and childish rhyme. If you just want me to take one object tell me."

Looking at the room filled with treasures he was overwhelmed regarding what he should take since there were mountains of treasure to choose from.

Overwhelmed by the vast quantities of treasures, Xan carefully walked through the vault. He carefully searched but not much stood out. One of the oddities he found was a strange-looking sea vessel. Out of all the treasures in the vault, it seemed strangely unimpressive. Xan climbed aboard the vessel which was a little over ten meters long. Nothing was too unusual on the main deck of the ship, so he decided to search the lower decks.

Entering the hold of the ship, Xan found a pile of fishbones. "Strange, what is this thing salvage? Why would they put it in here?" Xan wondered. Thinking about it for a moment, he thought about the sign he saw when he first came in. Looking at the fishbones he commented, "plenty of fish in the sea."

Having this thought, he went to the pile of fishbones and carefully searched through them. After ten minutes of looking, he found a strange fish-shaped boat. A pop-up flew in front of him once he picked up the boat, "Congratulations, you have received "Flying Fish All-Terrain Vehicle." Surprised, but in a hurry, Xan kept the fish ship in his inventory. "It must be able to increase its size or something," he realized otherwise it would not be useful.

Checking the time left to escape, he saw he only had another twelve minutes. "Twelve minutes to find the last two treasures and escape from the guild?" Xan activated the map and saw the last two treasure waypoints were close by. "I can only give it a try," he thought to himself.

Xan previously spied the door out of the vault and was able to leave easily. He came out to an empty hallway and headed left according to the map. As he made his way through the tunnel he found a lot of inactive traps. It seems like the old ghost had disabled all of these traps for him. This saved him a little time, but it still took him three minutes to find a room.

As soon as he entered the room, a light turned on. As far as he could tell, there was only a bed mat in the corner of the room. Xan started looking around the mat but couldn't find anything. He finally sat in frustration and when he did, he felt the muddleheadedness in his mind cleared up a little. "Congratulations, you have received the "Bed of Better Thinking," a pop-up informed him. "What a terrible name...whatever," he thought to himself. With that thought, he put the bed in his inventory slot. Looking at the clock, he only had seven minutes left.

"I'll just take a look," he thought to himself. Xan left the room and headed toward the final treasure. The hall lead to a large hall that contained a number of large furnaces which were covered in dust. "Did no one in the guild know about these places? This is so strange. He quickly ran around the room looking for the final treasure. he came to a table with several objects on it. His attention was drawn to a strange mask. Laying next to the mask was a manual of some kind. As soon as he touched the mask he was assaulted by a pop-up, "Congratulations, you have acquired the "Man of a Thousand Faces Mask, a manual titled: How to create Man of a Thousand Faces Mask and other things to help a man disappear from his enemies. You have acquired..." a list of several objects was also listed. Presumably, it was a list of everything on the table. Xan was out of time so he just threw everything into his inventory storage.

"Announcement, you have three minutes to leave the guildhall," Otrera announced to him. Xan ran towards the only exit from the ancient hall. Rushing out the door, he found a wall impeding his path. "Secret door?" he wondered and searched quickly all over the door. Finding a hidden notch in the wall, he pushed it and a door partially opened. It was barely enough room for him to squeeze out.

This led to another hidden room but he couldn't find an exit. At this point, he was getting upset. "Come on, don't tell me I'm trapped!" he yelled. Just as he finished yelling, he looked up to see the roof above him was made of a fairly translucent material. At first, he couldn't figure out what he was seeing, but he finally understood. He was looking up into the first hall. This was the same hall where he originally threw the two balls. He was located in a corner of the room next to one of the large pillars.

"One minute," Otrera reminded him. "I'm not getting out of here on time obviously. I should get out of this room first. Xan madly searched the room, finally, he found a small depression. A picture of a laughing dog or something was just above the depression. Suddenly, he remembered one of the objects from the table in the last room was a laughing dog. Opening his inventory, he retrieved the laughing dog object.

The object had a carved laughing dog at one end and from the other end, there was a rod with protrusions at various points. "A key," he said as he inserted the object into the depression. He turned the dog head and a little elevator opened for him. Excited, he was about to get into the elevator but paused for a moment and unequipped his Superior Crafting Guild exterior robe and reequipped his hammer. Next, he climbed into the elevator and saw the floor open as he was pushed through the opening.

"Time's up!" Otrera shouted causing Xan to jump.

As soon as he reentered the first room, he heard the sound of people coming. Seeing a lever next to where he exited, he pushed it down and hid behind one of the pillars. The floor opening closed and it looked like every other part of the stone floor.

"Fine, fine we'll decide what to do with anything we find after we find them," Xan heard someone speaking. A group of nearly a dozen men and women entered the hall where he was hidden. So far, the group seemed unaware of his presence. He was well hidden in the shadows in the corner of the room.

It seemed the group was bickering over how they were going to split any treasures they found in the guild. One of the older men towards the back of the group stopped and turned his head toward Xan's hiding spot.

"You can come out now little warrior," the man said.
