Chapter 19

(AN: this is a small interlude between the time skip, enjoy ;) )

POV Change

My name is Zhang Ye, I am 19 years old, and today is both the worst, yet the best day of my life.

I grew up in a regular Chinese family as an only child, meaning that I grew up being pampered by my parents. We were a regular household living in a prosperous town, my mother stayed at home while my father worked at a cotton factory.

For the first few years of my life, everything was going well, I would go in the morning at the town school and play the rest of the day with my friends before going back home in the evening.

The owner of the factory where my father worked was a kind foreigner, he would always take some time to teach us his native language, English, as well as the wonders and culture his country, the USA. I loved learning so many new, strange things, especially concerning what he called the 'showbiz'. That was the time where I dreamed of becoming a famous superstar.

Those good times made up the first eight years of my life. What followed was pure hell.

The prosperity of the cotton factory and the kind demeanour of its owner left many workers feeling greedy to take a bigger bite of it. Thus, the owner's body was found dead in a random creek outside of town. I remember it quite well since I was the one to find it, or rather, the many parts of it.

The head, arms, fingers and legs were all detached from the torso in a bloody manner while the owner's eyes were still open in horror. I don't know how or why, but I ignored the bloody scene in front of me and took the dismembered head in my hand, before closing the crystalline blue eyes of a man I considered to be my teacher.

I didn't cry or anything, instead, a massive headache assaulted me and I fell into a puddle of blood next to the corpse. I still remember the pain I felt. My head was threatening to split apart and my eyes were itching crazily. I stayed there until one of my friends came looking for me.

Unlike me, he cried with fright and pissed his pants before running away from the scene. That was the first sign I felt that made me unordinary. The crowd of adults that came, later on, were stunned at first before asking me questions about what happened, which I calmly answered.

A few days passed at that time, and a certain group of workers became the new owners of the cotton factory. Some people were skeptics, even reticent, to see that happens since the previous owner was quite well-liked. Though, since the new owners were related to the mayor's family, the opposition could become a few whispers in the end.

That wasn't the case for me, I don't know why or how, but I gradually began to hear some voices. I freaked out at first but felt better when I learned to tune them down.

At some point, when I went to the tomb of the old owner, I heard a really familiar voice, which stunned me, before I realized that I belonged to the old owner. While I was there, he told me what happened and who killed him, which turned out to be the 4 new owners.

From then on, whenever I saw them, there would always be black dots above their heads, marking them as my targets. Eventually, exactly 4 months after the American owner's gruesome death, a squadron of American soldiers came into the town.

The old owner seemed to be the friend of a major in the army, who came to visit after a long time. That was the second time I witnessed death.

The major learned the truth from some drunk guys in a bar, then became extremely furious. The whole town was locked down by his soldiers at night, then the extermination began. Even now I remember him shouting out 'Die you monkeys!' while killing people I grew up it.

I don't know if I was played by fate, but I was outside of town when this happened. I had the habit of going to the cemetery to discover more things about my power, which ended up saving me.

I remember holding my parents still warm bodies in my arms as I promised myself that it would be the last time I would cry. I was nine then.

In the next nine years, I travelled across the country. I knew I wasn't strong enough to get revenge, so I just moved on. I trained my body, learned new skills and practised my ability all that time so that I wouldn't have to go through something like that ever again.

In the tenth year, I wanted to get a fresh start somewhere else, so I just boarded a ship to England, hoping for a better life. And I found it.

The ship I was on was destroyed in a violent storm in the middle of the sea, and I remember sinking down, thinking that I would be rejoining my parents in the afterlife. That was until I woke up on a neat bed, facing an incredibly handsome man who explained what were my powers and promised to get me a better life by working for him.

My power was reacting strangely for the first time, no matter how I tried to peer into his soul, the only thing I would see was blankness surrounding a deep black dot that seemed to suck me in. My intuition told me to listen to work for him, and I never regretted it since.

That was how I met my Lord, Arthur.

///////POV End/////////

Within one of the many rooms of a beautiful villa, the sun could be seen rising from the window, casting its first rays of light on a cross-legged figure in the middle.

The figure was a handsome teenager with sharp, symmetrical features and long silver hair that reached his shoulders. If one didn't look at him directly, they wouldn't be able to feel his presence. It was like he was one with the world, completely blending with his surroundings.

As sunlight shone on his face, his delicate eyelashes briefly trembled before parting, revealing a pair of mysterious eyes that could peer into your soul.

Exhaling a long sigh, the teen broke the silence of the room.

"Finally done…"
