Administratum, Forms And More Forms

The pair was now sitting in a small waiting room, sitting on a couch in a rather stylish room. The room was full light hues with pleasing visuals, various works of art on the walls and tasteful decoration no matter where one looked. After a short period of waiting, of which Cyrus made use of by pulling out a book to study from, a man walked in holding a small stack of papers.

"Hello hello, thank you for waiting Venator. We put your request into the fast track and it has already been approved, all that is required is a quick lookover by me and the signing of the documents. Everything will be then neatly stored away immediately, becoming official at once."

Fauve looked over from his seat, where he was pompously sipping some tea, and said

"Thank you for the hard work, Scholar. I know how difficult life is here, always having to work hard so that one day you may accumulate enough knowledge and merits to be able to take the Great Scholar examinations."

"Thank you for the kind words sir" said the scholar sincerely, clearly flattered. He then handed the documents to Cyrus, who he had correctly guessed was the one to be granted citizenship.

"Normally there is a strenuous procedure to follow, but with sir Venator's backing you can skip all the formalities and just fill out the form here" prompted the scholar.

Cyrus took the form, dutifully filling it out. It was of a format he was familiar with after all, with the only queries he had to fill out being basic ones asking for his name, age, place of birth, current occupation and for him to sign off on swearing allegiance to the Empire. Easily filling out the form, he handed it back to the scholar.

The scholar took the form, looked at the information and copied it to a scroll he had prepared already. He then signed his own name off on it, before applying a light application of the Ignis domain to it.

"A mage working as a civil servant? I suppose it should be as expected, no matter what part of the Empire you are in there are clearly signs of how powerful it is everywhere…when even one faceless scholar amongst many is a fairly capable mage" remarked Cyrus, as he noted that the level of essence control the scholar had was more than acceptable.

The scholar bound the scroll, then handed it to Cyrus.

"Congratulations on officially becoming an imperial citizen. I wish you luck with your upcoming examinations. I will go ahead and register you for the next examination period."

With a bow the scholar collected the forms, then left as quickly as he had come.

"See brat, a little flattery along with the power of status and bam! Even the ungodly slow Administratum can speed things along, hah" bragged Fauve.

Cyrus on the other hand was inspecting his proof of citizenship with a happy heart, gleeful at being able to be apart of such a nation while also excited for his entrance into the academy. He did not even put the exams within his eyes, having spent so much time preparing for them he already considered himself as having passed them. Actually taking them was merely an act of going through the motions, or so he reasoned.

As they left, another scholar was waiting by the exit for them.

"Venator Fauve and citizen Cyrus correct?" Both nodding the scholar had a look of relief on his face before handing Cyrus a stack of informative pamphlets, full of various imperial propaganda. Then he handed him a thick book of imperial laws. Finally, he handed a small sheet of fanciful and high-quality parchment to Fauve. As Cyrus was storing all the random assortment of items he had just received, he heard Fauve utter a whimper

"As expected of the Administratum…" whispered a downcast Fauve.

Cyrus took a peek at what was written on the parchment, before breaking out in laughter as he read.

"Notice of owed monetary dues for Venator Fauve.

Dues,

-Sped up citizenship for their charge

-Sped up examination registration

-Quality waiting room

-Quality refreshments

-Cost of the scrolls, parchment for this bill, and paper for written records used as well as the ink used.

Total…"

With a laughing Cyrus and a now downtrodden Fauve, the pair left the inner sanctum to find lodging until the long awaited examinations began.
