Crynn POV
"Is this what Hamunaptra's been hiding, bloody hell!" Everyone around me including Ferrous gaped open like a kissing fish. This is just incredible. In my whole life, I thought that just seeing USA's National Gold Reserve would be blinding and pretty impressive. I'm sorry to say that it doesn't hold a single candle against the vast riches hidden in Egypt.
Where do they get all the gold from? That's an important and also one for another day. "Remember not to touch anything, I'm sure none of you forgot about the poisonous gas last time," everyone nervously gulped at the thought, one breathe in of the poisonous gas and they would perish. "Right, let's keep going down the yellow brick road."
I get that reference and the floor is clearly paved with gold similar to The Wizard of OZ's road. "It's getting increasingly hard to resist the temptation O'Connell!" Jonathan argued eyeing the gold greedily swiping his hands together like what's that character called again? Swiper? Yeah something like that.
"Then keep your eyes focused, we're close to our destination," O'Connell quietly said rubbing his eyes once more t the sheer intensity of the lighting in this treasury. Can you imagine, thousands of lit up fire in the wall, every single one of the ight waves bouncing off the clear reflection on the countless gold and then making their way to your eyes.
I admit seeing treasure is pleasant, but seeing this much treasure is a bit disturbing both to your eyes and your conscience. Moving on, we got close to the end of the road and what's separating us from the next room is only a big barricaded door. "How are we going to get through," Evelyn asked for an opinion which no one could really answer.
"Ferrous, could you do it," I touched and pushed the barricade lightly, its strong and hard. I knocked at it a few times and realized that the barricade is not too thick. "No can do, I can feel that it has hinges connected inside the wall," that's bad, how are we going to do this. I looked around the room to see if anything could be used before finally positioning my head on Jonathan.
He sheepishly rubbed his head and took out 3 sticks of dynamite from his leather bag. "I emm, took some from the box, hehe," Jonathan smiled a bit ashamed of himself while O'Connell blankly stared at him before snatching the sticks from his hand. "Okay everyone stand back," O'Connell lighted up all three dynamites and retreated behind a tall gold statue for cover.
BOOM! Everyone covered their ears which I had to admit doesn't work very well. The sound still manage to penetrate the seams between your fingers, striking clearly into the ear. Especially in a room where the walls are hard and the sound keep echoing as a result of reflection against the hard walls.
"Everyone fine! God! Explosions in closed rooms aren't pleasant," you're correct O'Connell, outdoor explosions don't really do much but indoors, explosions started showing their true colors. "Let's not waste our time, the longer we are here, the thirstier we are," Evelyn made a very correct remark, my throat is quite sore right now, and I really need a drink.
We moved through the door and we came into a very normal looking room, exception being the three rectangular pools of some black liquid, an altar in the middle and a slope towards a sealed door. Let's not forget the mummy standing over the altar with his hands holding a black book and a dagger, about 10 undead kneeling in a circle around the altar, a few pots on the altar and a woman mummy on the altar.
"We're hear to seal you mummy!" O'Connell bravely taunted the man with his fists raised and guns loaded. The rest standing behind observing carefully. "I've been waiting for you," the mummy spoke perfect english! Everyone looked similarly shocked, a mummy buried for 3000 years actually spoke english!
"How do you the language!" Evelyn said in impulse, everyone would like to know, this could be a very awesome reality show where everything is fake but no it isn't. "Extracting memories from the dead is useful don't you think," the mummy smirked, tapping his fingers quietly, smug displayed everywhere on his body.
Evelyn showed a look of disgust as do the rest of them, defiling the dead is never wise and is just downright revolting and necrophiliac. Everyone moved closer forward at the same time and the mummy stretched his palm facing us. "I only need the woman," he coldly said before his hands glowed golden and a ball of energy started condensing itself on his palm.
"Not a chance!" Evelyn ran forward with her Was sceptre and it did work. The previously materialized energy ball dissipated into the air in an instant. "Wh-what!" Imhotep (That's what I'm going to call him now, the mummy is just too long to pronounce) stuttered and looked down on his palm and then turned to Evelyn in disbelief.
"Was sceptre! My priests get her!" the 10 undead priests grabbed the daggers by their feet and started lunging at Evelyn. Connor ran down the left and I ran straight time to use my awesome magic! I summoned my wand and started throwing spells starting with my first year favorite, "Petrificus Totalus!" white light escaped my silver wand hitting one of the undead.
Freeze! The undead stopped and doesn't move, I really should use my gun more, it's sitting here all lonely. O'Connell shot at two undeads multiple times but they don't care and kept moving. I guessed so, bullets don't have much of an impact against undeads excpet if their zombies but these aren't. Only magic and any cold weapons would do the trick.
"O'Connell! Use this sword, bullets don't do much to them!" I unsheathed my goblin sword and threw it across the floor to a unsuspecting O'Connell. But to be able to grab the handle accurately while being unfocused, he must have a good muscle memory on catching objects. O'Connell held his blade up just in time for two daggers to clash with it.
"Petrificus Totalus!" Another undead petrified, my and Evelyn's side is all clear. O'Connell just finished pummeling a few bones away and Ferrous. Let's not worry about him as 6 undeads are being ripped to shreds bone by bone by his telekinesis, vampires are very vicious, no one would survive crossing them in the future. Oh I forgot, a girl did! (Spoilers : Though she survived)
"You may have won against my priests, but you haven't won the battle!" Imhotep fled backwards and opened his black book, started chanting in Egyptian gibberish. When he closed the verse, the walls started to rumble as more than 3 dozen undead Ancient Egyptian soldiers rushed out of the walls with their khopeshs in the air and ox hide shields on the guard. Fully equipped, fully ready.
I feel so cringe thinking of saying about this but why not, "It's time for round two."
