The Simplest Spell for Disarming and Defending

Crynn POV

"We configured it so that whoever first laid their bare hands on it will be its sole owner," the man explained as he held up the briefcase, now completely with several intricate runes written on the sides, hardly visible. Also, that explains why the man, previously not wearing anything on his hands, came back wearing gloves.

I took the briefcase by the handle and it glowed for a short second before receding. "It has recognized you as the owner, the only matter left at hand to successfully complete the contract is your payment. I graciously handed him the galleons as he thanked me without a shred of gratitude and went away, rude.

"Actually... I thought of one last destination, you remember that title?" I cheekily said, it just crossed my mind in the moment. "You mean learning books?" Exactly that one, it's time to put that overpowered title to use at the nearby bookshop, 'Flourish and Blotts Bookseller' just two shops across.

"We're going to get you a book which will allow you to cast spells like a true witch," I spoke and exited the building, I'm still more used to carrying the briefcase around so I'll do that and if there's a time where I need to free both hands or are just too lazy, I'll let the briefcase follow me around. "Ooh, spells? Can't wait," Aria looks excited at the prospect.

Wow, don't know how much I said that today but everything so far has been a big wow. The bookshop, it certainly is as large as a gallery! The walls on all four sides are simply bookshelves! Even the side of the stairs going up are bookshelves! This place is huge and the book count is surely incredible just by looking around, I bet there are more than 10000 books sorted around the area.

"You can go and find a book," I said to Aria as she eagerly nodded and went exploring around in her own. In the meanwhile... I got a newspaper from a rack. "Grindelwald escaped!" I muttered as I saw a huge moving picture of Seraphina Picquery and an unknown old man rejecting the press, both looking quite down and gloomy especially the president, she isn't too happy.

Dumbledore, Still Not in the War?! That's an interesting headlines. As the escape of Grindelwald transpired, it all became clearer that a Wizarding War is unavoidable. Dumbledore, an old friend of the Dark Lord, greatest light wizard in all of Britain, reluctant to participate. Is it just a matter of time or are past relations greater than the nation?

That's some juicy gossip right there! "So, Cry? I've found a book," I looked away from the newspaper and Aria has returned with a rather thin book. "No other book?" I immediately judged the book by not its cover (I hadn't seen it yet) but by its size and page count of I'm counting probably 5?

"This is the cheapest and most affordable book I can find, it only costs 10000 mission merits which is not a cheap number. The rest of the books are above 50000 mission merits,, we can't afford that," good God! That flimsy little booklet costs 10000 mission merits! And the rest of the books cost more than 50000! That's an insane pricing!

"What book is that anyway?" Can't get a clear view with her hand blocking it. "The Simplest Spell for Disarming and Defending by Maria Gover. Sounds nice so I decided upon it even if it doesn't look the best in terms of appearances," Oh, defense and disarm? that genuinely sounds good. "What are you waiting for then, learn it."

I saw the book glowed and stopped almost at the same time. "I learned two spells. 'Expelliarmus', disarming charm and 'Protego', shield charm. Is that right?" She learned those two essential spells! Way to go! 10000 mission merits are totally worth the bargain! "Those two spells are awesome! One disarms the opponent like it's name and the other creates a shield bubble where most normal magic can't get pass by."

She looks proud once I finished the sentence. "But... The two spells won't be very effective against wizards and witches of higher levels so always be careful," that warning ought to do, we must always stay humble and never too proud. She solemnly nodded, "So... where are we going to again?"

"We are going to the Ministry of Magic!" I excitedly waved my arms and said, I'm so very enthusiastic about this! "And how do we get there?" Well there's two options, one by floo and the other by taxi and telephone box. "We can head back to the entrance first, if I'm correct, there will be a way to get to the ministry through a certain transportation method," keeping it mysterious.

Two minutes later... "Where's the transportation?" She looked around in confusion trying to find out what this sort of 'transportation' really is. "You're looking the wrong way," I put both my hands on both her shoulders and faced her in the direction pointing at a brick wall with 5 fireplaces side by side, laying neatly and a cup on each of its right side.

"Yeah, I've always been intrigued by those fireplaces placed randomly here out of all places, why is that?" She doesn't seem to realize yet that those odd fireplaces are our 'transportation'. Or more specifically, the Wizarding World's tool for teleporting between various places at once only through a simple fireplace registered by the Ministry of Magic.

"Here's our 'transportation'. The wizards and witches use these for instantaneous travel to anywhere. It's called the floo network. By throwing a handful of a substance called floo powder and calling out the destination, it will directly transport you to that specific destination," I said as I boggled her mind.

"You mean, we're teleporting with these... dirty and ashy fireplaces?" Aria's eyes twitched as she pleaded for me to wrong her out. But unfortunately... "Nope, I'll show you," what better than to perform the action rather than just speaking without said action.
