Unassuming Ancient Scroll

Crynn POV

"And don't call me Valerie, no one calls me that, just V will do," okay, the one wearing the Japanese samurai shirt is Valerie Crest or preferably V and the one with the one piece is Panam Palmer, tribal leader. "My name is Crynn Avter, she is Ariane Veil, that one is Jill Valentine and he's Calian Otho Aurelius," it's only right for us to introduce ourselves as well.

"What's the job first?" she asked in a solemn expression, time for negotiations. "Shouldn't you ask what you're gonna get for it first?" Jill as a policewoman can be the right job for this, as well as the Kingsman on the side, I'm not a keen expert in negotiation, so I'll leave it up to them. "What's the use of a longer lifespan when the job is going to kill me," good point.

"The job is not just a job, we're offering you a series of jobs," Calian then said in emphasize towards multiple words in the sentence. "A series of jobs? You mean multiple jobs?" V frowned, her gears inside the brain is clearly turning. "Yes, multiple jobs," I decided to confirm her that yes we are offering her not just one job but more than one job that will be done consecutively.

"Ok... And what exactly are the jobs?" Now that is what we'd like to hear as a question. "We will only disclose to you about the first task in this series of tasks. So, number one, we need to access Militech's database," Calian explained with a smile but the opposite smile isn't smiling as much as him.

"You serious? Militech?" It wasn't V who asked the rhetorical question, but the woman next to her, nomadic leader, Panam Palmer. "Yes, Militech, is it a problem?" Now Jill asked back, ehm... I think it's time for me and Aria to just stay silent on the sidelines and let the true experts do their jobs, I can negotiate but I'm not confident enough to say that my ability is equal to a Kingsman's or a policewoman's.

"It is a problem, I have an entire Arasaka Corporation waiting to get at me anytime they could and I could not afford offending a second giant when I already am a wanted figure in Militech's eyes for wiping one of their base of operations and stole a tunnel drill from them. But... if you can really prolong my life, I'll consider the job," oh good she'll consider the job.

"I want you to consider the jobs not the job, one is plural, the other is singular," Jill shot at her again, are we being too aggressive here or is this an intimidation tactic. "Do you know how difficult it is to get into a corporation's database? From what I learned with Arasaka, corporation databases cannot at all be accessed externally, it can only be accessed internally."

"Internally by meaning, is at the database's core, you can't get in with just any internal port, it needs to be the core port. And do you know the process of me and the Aldecaldos being able to get inside Arasaka's database? People, dead, vehicles, destroyed, a lot, injured, we may get a lot out of it, but we also lost a lot."

"How about we add up to that in cash," Calian offered, looks like the scroll alone won't cut it. "How much exactly?" V asked with a slight gleam around her pupil, yup, everyone in the world even me will be attracted to money. "5 million Eurodollars," Calian crossed his legs and arms with an offer I'm surprised of, do we have that money.

Wait let me check. I opened the shop and immediately mentally typed in Eurodollars. Actually a mission merit for a thousand Eurodollars, I guess 5000 mission merits then. "Firstly, I need to look at whatever you have that can expand my lifespan," right, money no matter how useful and valuable it may be, will always be lower in value than life.

"Be optimistic about this, this may look unassuming, but you shan't judge a book by its cover," Calian brought both his hands up in a gesture of assurance which made the opposite side much more suspicious towards us, oh boy, scroll, technological world, magic and the supernatural is pretty much nonsense here, let's see how this goes.

Calian took out the scroll from below, making sure no one could see him pull it out of nowhere. He carefully raised the scroll and lightly put it on the table. The two girls across looked at it for 1, 2, 3 seconds and looked back at us with expressions of confusion. "Is there something we're not getting here?" Palmer said with a twitch on one of her eyes.

"This costs us 20 million Eurodollars to obtain, 20 whole million, its authenticity has been verified," Calian moved his hand over the scroll and the two just looked at us in absolute bewilderment. "Wait, you mean, this ancient roll of paper is supposed to help me? Are you serious?" V spoke in annoyance as her eyes glared at us.

"And it costs 20 million dollars? Not even a kid would believe that," Palmer's eyes contain a bit of ridicule, ahh none of you believe us, I can see why, I will do the same as them if I see some random stranger walked up to me offering a scroll that can prolong my life, bullsh*t if you ask me. But this is real and we have to somehow convince them.

"Look here, you both may think that we're lying but we're not, hey look, how about we give some down payment first. A down payment that involves using this paper and its contents. If it doesn't work, we'll go, if it works, you're have to going to do the job for us, and when I say for, I say together. Agree or disagree," Calian continued to try and convince them.

"You know what, fine! I'll give it a try."
