Breaching Charge

Crynn POV

"Any luck over there?" Because I heard nothing else from the direction where all the action had been in moments ago. "It's clear, we have probably shot more than 10 crewmates, maybe even higher than 20 in number, we wiped all of them out," V came to answer as my brow involuntarily perked up, more than 20 people? That's a lot and I ain't doubting that more is stationed upstairs along with the rear admiral and his two captains.

"So, Jill, with your eye in the sky or should I say, sea, give us an estimate of how bad the level above is?" I'm curious as well as expecting some preparations to be done before we storm the top deck and we certainly wouldn't want the admiral dead, we still need his brain after all, I don't think we can access it if he's KIA (Killed in Action).

"You're going to be facing heavy resistance with multiple sections of rooms blocking us from our oath forward towards the main control center, at least 30 men maybe 50, all armed though they are relatively low armored, definitely not bulletproof. All the doors are locked tight by external methods which means I can't open it."

"But this submarine is not like any ordinary submarine, Calian and V should've seen the torpedo automatic loading bay, it is also a munitions storage room containing not just anything random but also guns, cybernetic parts and most required of all, explosives, powerful breaching charges in particular, we will need to use to open these doors."

"By the end of today, there won't be any more doors left in the top deck," no ordinary submarine indeed, this is like a battleship more than anything. Right, I'm clear here as well, looks like pretty much everyone has left this middle level for either the top deck or the automatic torpedo loading bay, creating the fortress they sought to defend even when it failed in the end.

"Perhaps, Calian and V could help us with it," Aria said as we approach the stairs going up to the final and might as well be the boss floor. "We'll have a look around, we'll return with satisfying results," I love to hear the sound of that, Calian, ever the confident man paired with all the right skills.

I climbed up and I'm immediately not surprised by the situation here. So, for one, all the rooms behind me are sure to be empty aside from the bodies but what's filled is in front of me. On both sides of the submarine, there pose doors, doors shut and locked tight to prevent anyone from even turning a single degree into the wheel.

"Okay, I think I've got the breaching charge here, you want me to bring the whole box of 'em up?" Well done. "Yes you should, there's probably a few doors we need to get open to reach the rear admiral, we'll need everything," after I've done that, I gently knocked on the door feeling the thickness of it and calculating just how much I can hear.

I decided, just enough as I stuck my left ear on it, feeling the taps, vibrations, thumps, yes, 5, no, 7, ehm... 8, there's eight crewmates inside, all seem to be impatient and nervous by the literal sounds of it. "So, what's on?" Aria inquired as she shoved a woman out off a chair, firmly replacing her, sitting down in an elegant way.

"Nothing much, there's around 8 inside give or take, we should be able to deal with this easy, they are panicking, losing their cool, they will definitely go down," this isn't a matter of arrogance, this is a matter of reckoning. "Oh? You do know, there's a saying, corner a dog, and that is when it's most dangerous," can be but not quite.

"That saying only works on specific situations, this one doesn't count as one. It can apply to a financial crisis, a widow with three kids cornered out of money, she may resort to stealing or worse intentions. This can also apply in criminality, a thief, robber, gets cornered by the police, sees someone nearby, taking them hostage."

"There's no way it could happen here, they couldn't do anything, there's no hostages to capture, no viable option left. I am even extremely positive that even when taking this ship down with them is the last and only choice, I'm sure they won't have the guts to do it. They won't enough will to kill everyone on this submarine or even themselves for the matter."

"You sure can be philosophical and ruthless at the same time," Aria laughed at me and I couldn't even contemplate whether that was a sarcastic insult or a compliment. "We're here, carrying a huge big Christmas box full of presents for the ones behind the door," V's voice interrupted us as she went up, in her hands, a metal box, looking heavy.

Clang! The box was dropped to the ground as V pulled the top off and Calian finally reached up together with us. "I'll leave it to V to secure the charge onto the door," Calian spoke and waited for V to take out one of the breaches but it's not what I was thinking it as. I expected it to be like one of those breaching charges from popular games but this looks different.

It looks like a very long cable connected together, it also has a digital pad, 4 protrutions on every edge of it as well as another four foamy white material stuck on it as well which I can safely presume might be the part where it sticks onto the door or wall where it's going to be placed on and breached into.

"This should be relatively simple," V remarked as she carefully hung the explosive onto the door, each foam sticking onto it like super glue, it looks operational. "So with the press of a button," V pushed onto the pad as it lighted up, the tip of the protrusions standing on the door flashed red, so, how does this so called breaching charge work then?

Let's see...
