General POV
"The Third Magic, the Heaven's Feel, the materialization of the soul," the mother began in suspense, as if telling a tale one might not believe to be true. "The Holy grail utilizes the long lost Einzbern Family's gift of the Third Magic. The last known user, Justeaze Lizrich von Einzbern essentially manufactured it to cycle and turn Third Magic into pure true magic, pure enough to turn into any of the known and unknown magics in existence," the mother ended.
"You may be asking to yourself, how does one even collect the magic required," Luvia nodded to that as her father's words were true, how did the Holy Grail get the magic, or where did the Holy Grail get the magic or maybe even who the Holy Grail got the magic from! Argh... So many questions, so little knowledge!
"By summoning dead heroes, that's how," dead heroes? Added knowledge, more question marks in Luvia's head. "The Holy Grail is held every 50 years in a Japanese city called Fuyuki City. As part of the three families' contribution in the making of the Holy Grail, the Einzberns put their third magic and alchemy to use, the Makiris use their outstanding control magecraft while the Tohsaka's provided their rune and gem magecraft as well as the land."
"This land, is Fuyuki, a prosperous land of mana. Fuyuki City has unique sets of ley lines, one of the greatest in the world. It could've been just about anyone's mark for the taking if the Tohsakas hadn't used their past extensive connections to grant special rights of Fuyuki over to them and only them, thus anyone vying for the land must pass through the Clock Tower first and from there, it's quite impossible to get Fuyuki."
"As I said, Fuyuki has unique ley lines, all of which has a great amount of mana flowing through, this mana essentially 'feeds' the Holy Grail for a total of 50 years before the amount of magic required has been displayed sufficient. Once that has been done, the command seals were sent for those eligible to participate in the war."
"Again, more questions, I know. Why do the three houses need a war? Simple, for protection and unprejudiced championship. There are three families involved, only one wish can be attained, either they fight each other or... they choose a much better path to pursue, the path of the Clock Tower or simply, the political safety path."
"By inviting other magi and their families to participate, this wishing competition has just been deemed international and thus, legal by magi laws. If they hadn't done this and instead participated themselves, someone might notice and they might be reported to the echelons who will promptly crush their wishing dreams, but that didn't happen and here we are."
"Back to the point of heroes, yes. There are 7 participants for every Holy Grail War, and 7 classes for each participant. Powerful in every aspect, the Saber class normally wielding a sword. Fastest of the bunch, the Lancer class normally wielding a long body-sized weapon such as a spear, a halberd or a physical battle staff."
"With eyes capable of viewing an entire landscape and the ability to take enemies from a far distance, the Archer class and I figure it's already quite clear what weapons this class will wield. Next up, pet lover, Rider class. This class is more special as in the case where its weapons can be anything but what differs it from the rest is it's availability of a mount, it can come with anything, a dragon, unicorn, Pegasus, anything that can be ridden upon."
"Commonly known as the strongest physical class, we have Berserker. Trading the sanity of mind for the capability of brawn, a berserker is essentially the juggernaut of battle. Though not everyone's favorite considering its lack of intelligence. Best in magecraft and even wielding the power of magic in the Age of Gods, the Caster class. Any Caster can go toe to toe with the Queen of the Clock Tower, even defeat her but as a result of their strong magic, their physical ability is their lacking and weakness."
"Last but not least, the weakest class, Assassin. As the name suggests, this class hides in the shadows waiting for the time to strike. Although weak, surprisingly, the Assassin class has the highest survivability rate. from the first to the third Holy Grail War, the Assassins have been known to hide until the last contestant remains but so far, none succeeded."
"7 contestants, 7 classes, 7 specialties, the lucky number," the father finally finished his very long explanation as he drowned a cup of premium wine to calm the excitement bubbling through him. "Last but not least, there's more?" Luvia could not help but ask as she noticed the subtle hint on her father's words.
"Yes, there is one more class, truly the weakest class, far weaker than Assassin. But to explain this class, I must explain where the heroes come to be. Through Justeaze Lizrich von Einzbern's methods, she has successfully connected the Holy Grail to a hidden reality and space known as the Throne of Heroes."
"This may be too complicated so I'll be more creative. When people die, they get censored, bad people go to hell, good people go to heaven, or that's what the Catholic Church preaches on about. Some people are so great in their historical rights that they neither went to heaven nor hell, they go to the Throne of Heroes."
"These people are figures like Celtic King Arthur, Roman Emperor Julius Caeser, Qin Emperor Yin Zheng, Spain's El Cid, and even our Finnish Lalli who repelled the Catholic and Christian mercenaries as well as slaying the Bishop of Holy Rights, Henry Elias III in a glorious duel! These people all went in the Throne of Heroes."
"However, there is another reality beyond the reach of the Throne of Heroes. The Land of Divine, this is where Divine Spirits from the Age of Gods exist. And here is where the last class hails from, Servant Avenger."
