I got out of my bed with a throbbing pain on my head. I soon realised it was a hangover because Alex and I had more than a few drinks.
'Damm! I hope we didn't embarrass ourselves at the restaurant.' I thought embarrassed.
I walked to my bathroom to shower, brush my teeth and get changed. But before that I took a pill to help with the headache.
As I was taking a shower I was lost in thought.
'Last night with Alex was quite fun. I was able to not worry about my evil family and Miguel for a while. *Sigh* Now what should I do about my Uncle? Knowing him, he will propose that I should live with him but I like this simple life, with my daughter and I. Miguel I won't even bother, that stranger better not let me see him again..but..no nevermind. I just hope that all this drama won't affect my daughter. I'm still worried about what that letter said, maybe I should have told Alex.'
Once I got dressed, I realised that Mia didn't wake me up like she always does. I raised my brow confused. I made my way to Mia's room and opened the door a little, to peak my head through.
"Mia? Mia?" I called and entered her room completely. Mia's room was small and cute. There were puzzles and toy computers neatly on her box, a closet at the corner, a pink bed and her walls had butterfly art around.
I saw a small figure under the blanket. 'Huh? Why is she not up yet?'
"Mia c'mon it's time to wake up and go to school." I said and pulled the blanket from her.
She woke up and said in a sleepy voice. "Mommy can I not go to school today? I don't feel like going, I'm very sleepy and tired" she said.
"How come?" I asked.
"Umm...my babysitter may have allowed me to watch as long as I wanted so I may have watched cartoons late and may have slept at a late time" she mumbled and blushed.
I sighed annoyed. "Mia what did I tell you of not sleeping on your bed time! I always tell you not to sleep late for school. If you like watching cartoons so late at night I will not let you watch it anymore. That babysitter didn't even make sure you slept on your time properly. She spoils you too much when I am not there. I won't let her babysitt you to be like those spoiled rotten children, she take cares off. I guess I have to find a new one then" I said angry at that good for nothing babysitter. I scolded Mia with my reprimanding long speech that I grew a habit to do.
'I was right of thinking she was good for nothing when Alex told me about her.'
'It was true of her letting the children do what they want and spoiling them!'
I may have exaggerated and Mia is still young, but she will be turning five soon and she was a intelligent child, she knew what I wanted to convey. Some parents like spoiling their children to much and do everything they wanted and believe everything they say. Once the children become teenagers they're spoiled hearts will go on a new level, making them unbearable to handel and control. I did not want Mia to turn like that so I started to remind her not to be rude or rebellious since she was 2. At that age she of course did not understand but now she does and I will continue to remind her.
Mia got out of bed and gave me a hug. "I know that mommy so don't worry, I won't become a rude and rebellious child when I am a teenager. So you don't have to make your usual parental speech to explain to me." she said sweetly and giggled.
I rolled my eyes and flicked her forehead. "Ow!"
"Anyway that speech is important." I told her and touched her forehead, checking if she had a fever.
"C'mon since my Mia for once is asking she doesn't want to go to school today, mommy will make an exception this one time. Let's clean the house and play together today." I said.
"Really?! What about your work mommy?"
I waved my hands. "I can skip work for once also. Mommy works her but off everyday at work, so today is the day to have a day off."
Mia giggled but then suddenly coughed..hard. "Cough, cough, Cough, cough!"
My eyes widened in panic and I patted her back until she stopped coughing. I checked her forehead again but felt no heat indicating fever.
"Mia what did you eat yesterday? Don't tell me you ate that cold icecream I specifically told you not to eat. That babysitter allowed you to eat it didn't she? I asked annoyed.
"Well yes..."
"Mia! Winter is almost near and you know that you usually get the flu and cough on that season. I told you, you can't eat any icecream and cold things. I also told that good for nothing babysitter but she ignored it! I guess as a punishment mommy will make you drink that very bitter medicine." I reprimanded and then teased.
Mia puffed our her cheeks "I'm sorry mom, I just wanted to eat icecream that I forgot. But I don't want to take that medicine!"
I shook my head. "Sorry baby girl but this is what happens when you don't listen. Be prepared!" I cackled acting like a Villian.
"Boooo!" Mia wailed and then coughed once again.
The one thing Mia hated was hospitals and anything to do with it including medicine's. It was always a problem to make her eat one. I remember when she was 3 years old and she was sick, I wanted to feed her medicine. Layla and I had to chase her, to get her to drink the medicine. That was the part where it was hard to control her.
"This is a punishment Mia. Hahahahaha!" I cackled evily.
~~
"No fair! Mommy you gave me a bitter medicine." Mia muffled under the blanket. I told her to stay in bed not taking any chances for her to get even more sick or to have a flu like always.
"Mommy is mommy so I am doing fair." I hummed as I was sweeping her room. I already called the hotel to inform them I will take a day off to take care of Mia.
"Mommy can you tell me about how grandpa was,
when he saw you?"
I stopped what I was doing. I leaned on the broom and said grimly. "You already know that grandpa what's nothing to do with us so don't mention him again, ok?" I asked.
She nodded and coughed. "Good. You have Alex and me so you don't have to worry about anyone else." I said walked towards her and kissed her forehead.
"Now go to sleep as mommy cooks us dinner." It was already the late afternoon and all I did was eat, clean and watch TV while Mia did the same but only watched for a little while and did not clean, but instead was laying on bed as ordered.
She nodded, coughed and closed her eyes.
"You don't need anyone else in the world but me baby girl. Mommy will always take care of you and protect you." I whispered
