My ex-stepmother now classified as a witch held her cheek in disbelief, but it was soon replaced with anger.
"How dare you slap me!" she yelled losing her composure. Her eyes shot daggers towards me.
I snickered. "How dare me! How dare you come to my house and think it is OK to slap my daughter and insult her! You can say whatever you want to me but never to MY daughter!"
Her nose flared and she gritted her teeth. Her eyes moved sideways when she saw the neighbour's begin to stare at us. It seems the witch refused to look bad in front of people because of what she said next.
She raised her voice. "How could I not slap the girl. You are one to talk when you wanted to abort your daughter you call precious."
Some people gasped in shock. My eyes went wide and I whipped my head towards my daughter.
She was still crying but she was not fazed at what the witch said. "You are a liar! Even if my mommy did try to abort me, can't you see I am still here! My mommy is the best and she showers me with love!"cried Mia. It seems the pressure and the crowd was getting to her.
I wiped away Mia's tears and turned towards the witch and said in a icy tone.
" Now listen here you witch!"my witch of a stepmother took a step back as I stepped too close to her.
"I want you to leave this place before I make you! I don't want your evil aura and
disgusting face to come here!"I said bit by bit the words laced with venom.
My ex-stepmother did not want to back down. She slapped my hand away and fixed her dress.
"Don't you speak to me like you are better than me. I am ashamed you were even part of the Johnson's family." she mocked me with a smirk on her face.
I wanted to slap her again.
'Well what's stopping me! I'll do it.'
Before I raised my hand Alex appeared in between us. He looked like he was out of breath.
"Well thank goodness I came in time."he composed himself and smiled at the neighbours. " Would you please go back to whatever you were doing. Nothing to see here."he clarified and the neighbours not wanting to seem as busy bodies, left.
He sighed and narrowed his eyes on the witch.
"Aunt..no Mrs Johnson if you would please kindly leave."he said and falsely smiled. The witch smiled at him too, obviously it being fake.
" My-My how you have grown to a fine young man, Alex. I would obviously want to leave this horrendous cheap place but I wanted to speak to the slu-Sasha about something but her lo-lovely daughter was getting in the way..and then this argument happened."
It looked difficult for her to not call me a rude word and calling my girl lovely. I wished Alex didn't intervene. I want to slap her so bad it leaves a mark on her retched face.
Alex was silent for a moment. "Why don't we talk in my home and I will tell Sasha what you want you want to say to her" he said.
The witch shook her head and narrowed her eyes at me. "I want to tell her personally, unless she is too afraid to hear it."she smirked.
My blood was boiling. " No I am not. I would gladly hear what you want to say but not in my home. We will go to Alex's house." I turned to Alex. "Let me get Mia to bed first."
He nodded. I scooped up Mia and entered my place. Once in her room I placed her on the bed. Mia silent after her outburst spoke up.
"Mommy, Mia is very sad at the woman's words against you." she croaked.
I caressed her hair. "I know Mia. I know. Now sleep tight. Once mommy is done she will sleep with you tonight."
Mia nodded and closed her eyes. My eyes began to feel watery. I did not want Mia to hear about how I was going to abort her, even if she thinks nothing about it.
I quickly composed myself before I left the house."

The witch and I sat across each other on the table with Alex sitting next to me.
Alex cleared his throat breaking the suffocating atmosphere.
"So what did you come here for? Cut to the chase." I said.
The witch's eyes twitched. "Bad manners as always."she muttered.
She took out an envelope from her bag and pushed it across the table, towards me.
I looked at the envelope. "What is this?"
"What do you think, silly girl. You want me to cut to the chase right."she pointed at the envelope. "Inside there is a ticket for your daughter and you to leave the country basically MY family's life. Also-"
I slammed my hand on the table. I was about to throw an insult but Alex placed his hand on mine, squeezed it and let it go.
The witch raised her brow at that.
Alex said in a monotone voice. "Finish what you were about to say."
I turned towards him and he shook his head. Alex was always the type to hear people out no matter how rude they are and to avoid conflict.
'Fine. Once the witch was done spouting nonsense I will send her running.'
"So as I was saying before I was rudely interrupted. In the envelope there is also a contract. Your Father wants you to sign it. I know you obviously won't want to leave the country but you must sign the contract."she said.
At the mention of my father my heart beat quickened. No matter how much I tell myself, I still love my Father even if I deny it. He is still my father after all. He did raise me and loved me with all his heart...in the past.
I slowly opened the envelope. When I read the contract my heart broke.
Alex read it too and his eyes widen in shock. The witch smiled in glee at my reaction.
I refused to cry in front of her. " Fine. If the man wants me to sign it, I will."I snarled. Alex looked concerned.
"Are you sure?"he whispered. I ignored him. I took out a pen and with a hollow heart I signed the paper. I knew he wanted nothing to do with me but...
"Well thank you."smiled the witch.
She left the house. The room was silent. Alex reached out his hand towards me but I slapped it away.
"I'm sorry I want to be alone."I whispered.
I walked out the door. Alex watched my back with a sad and longing face.

I closed the door of my room and slid my back on the door and flopped on the floor. I hugged my knees towards my chest. No longer am I going to cry over this again.
" I am legally no longer a Johnson."I whispered, my eyes blank.

The contract stated: Signing this contract you give up legal rights to want to inherit your Father's inheritance as you are his child. You also will not meddle in the affairs of the Johnson's and no longer have your Father's name, but only your mother's maiden name.
You are no longer legally your father's daughter if you sign this contract.
