My troubling thoughts

"Is something the matter?" asked Chef Ronald.

I raised my brow and stopped. The knife I was using to chop anions, a few inches away from cutting my fingers. I looked down and gasped in shock at what I was about to do.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I completely did not realise, how close I was from cutting my finger.

Chef Ronald slowly took the knife away from me and placed it away from my reach.

I chuckled, "I'm not a child. I was just lost in my thoughts," and took the knife back, continuing chopping the anions.

I was currently helping Chef Ronald on my break time, though I was making mistakes like these, more than helping him.

It had been a week since I signed the contract.

"I will ask again. Is something the matter? You know, I won't tell anyone. Trust me," he said. His expression was soft and attentive.

I finally let out a loud sigh and placed the knife down.

"It's nothing, really. I'm just stress over my expenses but that's all," I said and smiled. Chef Ronald didn't look convinced so I flipped my hair and joked, "C'mon you know I am a strong and independent woman, even though I am young. I am just lost in a bubble right now but I'll break free soon."

Chef Ronald looked a bit disappointed that I didn't want to confide in him, but he nodded in understanding. It was my business, after all.

I bid him goodbye to get back to my work because my break time was over.

I was so lost in thought on my way to my desk that I bumped into someone. I staggered back a bit, but was able to steady myself.

I looked up and met the haughty eyes of Sebastian?

'Now what is he doing here?'

I secretly hoped Rihanna wasn't here with him. Don't get me wrong, I don't like Sebastian or anything, I just don't want to see my backstabbing friend. Not when I'm in such a dazed mood.

"What are YOU doing here?" I asked.

"What do you think? Don't worry fallen angel, I am only here for business reasons. I want to meet the manager of the hotel...but if you want I can spare you my precious time," he winked.

'Since when did he want to flirt with me? And can he stop calling me that,' I thought rather annoyed at the nickname.

I rolled my eyes and walked past him. "Why would I care about wanting to spend time with you," I raised my voice for him to here.

I heard him sighing in the distance. Now I definitely hoped he would finish his business and not bother me.

My work was tiring as ever. I wondered how long I would have to work double shifts.

'Until I obviously pay the expenses.' I thought. I was so frustrated today and lost in my thoughts, that I was getting annoyed and irritated.

My mind raced with the contract and if it was the best choice to sign it.

The thing I asked Layla to bring to me, but she still didn't come visit me yet.

The expenses I had to pay like this months rent and Mia's school fees.

The threating letters that has stopped but I still don't know where it is from or when they may sent it again.

Mr Johnson and his family, whom I will never call my family again...

And my mind was dangerously filled with Miguel and how the feelings I kept buried inside was about to resurface, on that day. I pushed those thoughts down as hard as I could as I don't want to think about him anymore.

I sighed, finally done with my night shift.

"Aww, Sasha are you okay, dear?"asked Vicky. I turned around and met her eyes and saw that her supposedly friends, were behind her. They were done with their shifts too.

I didn't answer and started packing my belongings. Vicky annoyed at me ignoring her continued, "You are awfully tired lately. Must be hard being disowned and all. Add to the fact being a mother," I stopped what I was doing, "You look like you aged 10 years. You better take care of your plastic surgery face and body otherwise no man-"

I slammed my bag hard on my desk and turned towards her. I will never, ever, let someone insult me like this, NEVER.

I dramatically gasped, "You're one to talk, you poor girl. After all, didn't you come from doing your daily rounds with the rich perverted, old man. You have to pay up after all, to be in the position you are in right now in the hotel. Must be tough," I said and gave her a mocking smile.

While she was stunned in silence I walked past her and her friends, who looked at her with pity, mockery and disgust.

Vicky's expression soon turned into pure rage.

"By the way Vicky, we all know compared to me, you look inferior. I am not the one who did plastic surgery," I called out and walked out the door.

Now I was feeling a bit better from showing Vicky, a piece of my mind.

When I was outside I was greeted by Sebastian, who was chuckling and shaking his head while while clapping his hands.

"Marvelous. Your comeback was outstanding," he said and broke into laughter.

I narrowed my eye's at him. "So what are you doing here, exactly. Who are you waiting for?" I pointed out.

Sebastian raised his brow, like it was obvious.

I rolled my eyes. "Sorry Mister, but if you want to give me a lift, my cousin Alex will come and fetch me," I said and added, "So you may leave now and don't bother me. Got it."

He sighed and muttered, "What a complicated one."

I pretended not to have heard him.

I don't want this man to get on my business. Does he think he can win me over or something? In his dreams!

Seeing that I refuse to allow him to drive me home, he bid me goodbye and said we will be seeing more of each other.

I preferred when he was being rude to me, then him flirting.

Once he finally left, I let out an exhausted sigh.

I felt my phone buzz, soon after.

I read an incoming message from an unknown number.

Dear Sasha Amelia

You had your chance to leave the country but you refused, though I am proud of you of signing the contract.

What a good girl you are and so very foolish.

I hope you stay out of the Johnson's family, after all you are no longer part l

of their world.

Your lovely threatener..
