Hotel anniversary?

I fluttered my eyes open when I felt the ray of sunshine pierce my eyes.

"Mommy! It's time to wake up," greeted the cheerful Mia.

I blinked my sleepiness away. I smiled at her, trying to match her mood, but in reality I was a bit troubled because of yesterday.

Just thinking about another threatening letter made my blood boil. I kept on forgetting to tell Alex about this, but I won't forget this time. After all, he is a defective. I'm sure he will be able to help me find out who is sending these letters.

Now, today I will no longer stress myself and be in a happy, sort of, mood.

I prepared Mia and myself, and dropped her at school and went to work.

Once I dropped Mia and arrived at work, the hotel was lively and busy. People were carrying objects left and right.

"What is going on?" I asked a man, who was carrying plates.

He answered in a hurry and looked at me like I was stupid, "Did you forget or something? The hotel anniversary is today so the investors and important people are coming," and quickly left.

I was so caught up in my thoughts and other things that I completely forgot about this. The hotel holds an anniversary party that is simple and small, where their investors and some quite important people come.

The people living in this hotel are rich and wealthy so they join the party, not wanting to miss the chance to mingle with their kind.

It always confused me why the hotel would hold a party here, where people slept and not someplace else. The people who rented here didn't mind and even gladly joined.

If I lived in an hotel where it was holding a party, that would obviously be loud, I would be bothered... maybe. I may be speaking like this because my mentality is no longer one of a rich person's.

The old Sasha wouldn't miss a party for the world..

I made a mental note to act proper and be at my absolute best behavior.

Sometimes I wonder how Miguel was able to get me a job in this famous hotel even...

I stopped my trail of thoughts immediately. I hated how I can still be thinking about a person who I thought of as a close friend, even more than that, that left me for 4 whole years.

'I probably am like this because he was there for me at a time when I was vulnerable and alone,' I told myself.

Add to the fact why am I thinking about him since I was able to let my mind stay clear in these 4 years, but thanks to seeing him again at that party...

As I walked to my reception desk with my thoughts, I failed to notice the hateful glare Vicky sent too me.

The manager, Mr Jordan, gathered all the employees in his huge office.

He cleared his throat, stopping the mumblings. The room went silent.

"As you all know, special guests are coming tonight. They are important people and are the investor's of this hotel. I want you all to be at your best behavior and work your absolutely best. I don't want anything going wrong, including the boss. Do you all understand," said Mr Jordan in a serious tone.

"Yes sir," we answered. Mr Jordan smiled in response and sent us back to our work.

"You should listen to what Mr Jordan says, Sasha. Don't cause trouble for yourself tonight," whispered Vicky in my ear as she passed me.

My keen sense tingled. I knew what that meant. I am not that foolish to be confused at what Vicky uttered just now. She clearly has a grudge against me at what I said yesterday, not like she didn't have a grudge against me anyway, but today she looked ready to throw a bomb at me.

I sighed. Now I had to keep my guard up.

'How great. The fact that I have a night shift today is so great,' I thought in a sarcastic matter.

I sent Alex a text to tell him not to pick me up at the usual time. My shift would only end once the party ends.

'Who knows when that'll be.'

I sent him another text, if he could stay with Mia for the night. I don't want the babysitter having to work past her working hours, it will be pretty late when I come back.

Now that I think about it, this would be the first time I would be working at the anniversary party. I always made sure to take only the morning and afternoon shift on this day, but today, I forgot to tell the manager and it was too late now.

I sighed once more.

It was the evening. The hotel was decorated in an extravagant manner. The party would take place at the ballroom that was filled with tables of lovely gold and white colour. The roses around the hotel brought the hotel to life and it felt like being in a garden.

While everyone was excited, I dreaded that I am a receptionist, which meant greeting the investor's, and the person who will direct them to the ballroom.

I glanced at the people renting suite's in the hotel, all dressed up and in the ballroom.

'Do rich people all do is party and hold events,' I thought in statement rather than a question.

I put up my most brilliant smile at the first batch of people coming.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to be in another party since the one held by Mr Johnson's uncle, but bad luck sticked with me always.

Meanwhile, Vicky watched Sasha like a predator watching their prey.

A man with black hair as ink and rare silver eyes, was in a limo heading somewhere.

"Sir, permission to speak?" asked a man with dirty blonde hair slicked back and baby blue eyes, with a smile etched on his milky white face.

The man with silver eyes smiled lightly at the man. "Stop speaking like that. It's weird Logan," he said in his deep voice.

The man named Logan lightly chuckled.

"Sorry can't help it. The way old man Alfred speaks is too funny not to replicate...

Anyway why are you bothering to come to this boring party? You never bothered to come before? You always said it was a big waste of time," Logan asked, changing his tone.

The silver eyed man, light pink lips moved up a bit.

"None of your concern," he bluntly stated.
