"Wow," I awed. The ball room looked...magnificent, no spectacle.
It has been a while since I have seen and been in a fancy party after the last one. The last one though, I didn't have time to enjoy the sight, because I was angry and depressed at seeing the Johnson family and worried if Rihanna's plan would work.
Tables with silverware covered with white table cloth and roses were asymmetrical in the room. The chandelier was gold and hanged on the high ceiling. Music played by professionals using the violin and piano. It smelled fresh and and looked beautiful.
'I wish Alex was here too,' I thought.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when Sebastian nudged me to pay attention to him.
"Huh, what?" I asked. Sebastian rolled his eyes, annoyed that I was not paying attention to him.
"As I was saying, why don't you join the party along with me?" he suggested.
I raised a brow. "I have work, you know so I can't. I have to go now," I answered and turned to leave but was stopped by a hand that grabbed my wrist.
I whipped my head towards him and Sebastian immediately let go.
"Sorr-" before he could apologize and explain himself a person stepped in.
"Well if it isn't Sebastian. It's been awhile since we last met and hello to you Sasha," smiled Samantha.
Sebastian eyes seem to quiver with a certain emotion for a moment but it soon disappeared.
Sebastian lightly smiled at Samantha but it looked forced. He didn't greet her back. He turned towards me.
"Well Sasha, I'm going to mingle, it's your own problem to miss my invitation for WORK, maybe next time. A date perhaps or something else far more interesting?" he whispered in my ear.
I blushed furiously at how shameless he can be. His hate personally towards me turned 180° all of a sudden!
He chuckled at my reaction and I hated the way he teased me, especially in front of someone.
'Calm down, Sasha! You are a grown woman, a little sweet talk shouldn't affect you!' I screamed in my head.
Sebastian gave a side glance at Samantha and left us. I didn't miss the sad expression that was on her face, but when I faced her, she reverted back to her smile.
'What is going on between the two of them?' I thought a bit curious but knew I shouldn't pry further.
Maybe ONE DAY I will find out.
"You and Sebastian are quite close. Are you together?" she suddenly asked.
I immediately answered, "No! I mean..
no, of course not. He is just a friend?"
"OK..." was all she replied.
We were both silent just staring at each other.
"Well...I got to go to my post. So..bye," I said a bit awkwardly.
***
"Good evening. Welcome to Libra hotel," I greeted the next visitor once again.
As I was doing my job I was greatly relieved that none of the visitors recognized me, at all...except for Samantha.
As I was working, I felt someone stare at me so I turned around and met the eyes of the employee, who was helping me. She flushed red with embarrassment because she got caught.
"Do you want to ask me something?" I asked. She was silent for a while but finally spoke up.
"You know Mr Richard, right?" she started.
"Of course I know him," I answered. 'After all he is the one who helped Vicky get to her position so quickly, which was obviously NOT from hard work,' I thought. I shuddered just at the thought of the disgusting old man.
"Well... he is involved with giving the important write up plan to the investors regarding the hotel, since he works with the Boss..."
"And?" I asked.
"I was assigned to make sure he gets the plan by the manager from the boss because he is forgetful in keeping it safe. However I accidentally misplaced it and he will need to say it in a speech soon.."
"Wasn't this supposed to be Vicky's job? You're still a newbie," I frowned.
"Well Vicky... said it was the perfect opportunity to do something important so...yeah," she said softly
Typical Vicky not doing her job. Now the blame won't go on her but this poor girl.
"He's still in his room getting prepared. I would like it if you could give it to him. Please...I'm scared I will be in trouble for messing up something this important," she said, her hands shaking slightly.
The poor young girl was definitely scared of him. She was 18 years old with chocolate eyes and hair. Her name was Lily .
She only started to work here 3 weeks ago.
The sight of her shaking made me feel sorry for her. I was not at all afraid of the old man because I could defend myself perfectly well. Besides the girls he TRYS to have, are those who are not hot-headed, are super naive and who ACTUALLY want to be with him. That is obviously not me.
I sighed and took the paper from her hands. She smiled brightly at me.
"Thank you!" she said.
I nodded and took a gulp of my water bottle.
Sofia watched silently. "Hey, Sasha what do you think of me?" she asked out of the blue.
I was confused as to why she is asking me that, but answered her either way.
"I think you are a hardworking and good girl. You seem a bit naive but actually is quite clever based on my observation. Why do you ask?" I said.
She look down not meeting my eye.
"Nothing," she said, barely a whisper.
I nodded and walked upstairs to the old mans room. Once I reached it, I knocked several times but there was no indication that someone was inside.
'Maybe he's already at the ballroom,' I thought and was about to go to the ballroom but abruptly stopped...
My vision was blurry and I felt my knees shake and go weak all of a sudden. I had no choice but to lean on the wall to steady myself. My head was pounding and my throat felt dry.
"W...h...a..t?..." I tried to say but it came out more like a slur.
A person out of no where walked towards me, but I couldn't make out their face.
'Oh, no! What's wrong with me? I can't see correctly or stand up correctly. Damm it! Someone must have drugged me or something. But who?' I stopped my thoughts when the person began walking closer towards me.
I panicked and pressed myself on the wall, too weak to run away.
The person still came closer. I still couldn't make out anything.
I tried to make my vision clearer or call for help but my mind was too fuzzy, my mouth awfully dry and my body was weak.
A single tear left my cheek before my body betrayed me and all I saw was darkness.
"M...i..a," was all I could utter before warms arms caught me.
