Lake of the wild

Day 1 in the wild

----------

Five weeks, five weeks had passed after I left Blindseye and into the woods that surrounded the Zephain area. Before Fraisia died, she managed to place an invisible tracker on Shyza. Thus, leading me to this area where I faced the risk of being hunted by alien beasts.

"Dzilaiza, try moving again", the tyres tried to spin out of the trap, failing to move and sending mud straight into my face.

...

"This won't work", I sighed. "I can't move you as well, you weigh a ton."

"-Time evaluated for mud evaporation -> 27 hours-"

"Tch, that's too long. We have to hurry and get to Shyza-"

*ZZZZT!*

"Ack!", a screeching pain zapped through my head for the twentieth time. "Damn it! Everything's going horribly wrong!!", I supported myself on Dzilaiza and looked up at the setting sun.

These brain zaps were a sign, a sign that my inner wildness was surfacing and it was probably because I hadn't eaten since I left. The power of my wolf gene had its negative side. It continually fed on my emotions and experience. The more I gathered negative emotions and have bad experiences, the greater the urge to become a wild, blood-thirsty wolf.

"I'm almost nearing my limit", I got into the car and locked it. "I'll know what to do tomorrow morning."

Day 2 in the wild

----------

"-Mud evaporation -> 19 hours-"

A sudden force instantly jolted my body, leading me to slam the screen before me with my fists.

"-System secured-"

Dzilaiza's field bounced my fist back, "What, was I doing?"

*ZZZZZZZZTTT!!!*

I squeezed my head immediately, trying to pull down the pain. "I-It's getting worse", I stared back at my blue eyes from the screen and shut them tight as I waited for the feeling to fade away.

"I need something to eat", I opened my eyes and got out into the early morning sun, which merged with the green colours of the plants. "If I could simply find something like a fruit."

"-Unknown species of berries found ahead-"

"Huh?", I noticed that Dzilaiza began to execute her commands without direct order but I shrugged it off. "Great then, I'll be right back."

The trail ahead got narrower the more I progressed into the woods. Luckily, the sun illuminated the dark path a bit. Thus, allowing me to avoid long branches.

I walked for a few minutes until I got to the other side, shocked the moment I saw the deep valley. "Woah, that's deep. Don't tell me they're all the way down there."

Carefully, I surveyed the area to see if I could at least find a few berries where I was standing. After checking around for minutes and finding nothing, I eventually gave up.

"Seems like I'll have to go back", I sighed and turned to leave when suddenly, something shiny caught the corner of my eye. "What's this?", I pulled out a few weeds that covered the red object. "Hmm... Is this a berry?", I squeezed the object and instantly, juice leaked out. "Ha!! It is!!"

Quickly, I removed all the weeds and other plants away from the area around. There were lots of them, scattered all over the ground.

Without even taking a moment to know what type they were, I gobbled all 20 of them at once!

"Oop, I don't even know if they're poisonous or not", I began to chew slowly. "Meh, doesn't matter", then continued chewing them like a greedy wolf.

...

"I better get back", I finally convinced myself after I had sat there staring at the sky till sunset. "Hmm, is there something I'm forgetting?", the thought crossed my mind but I chose to ignore it.

Just then, my vision blurred and my head began to feel extremely heavy. I tried balancing on my feet but this sudden dizziness didn't let me.

"What in the world-", the next thing I knew, I fell into the deep, dark valley. Thorns scratched my skin as I rolled down and the branches whipped my body before I landed hard onto the ground, slowly losing consciousness. "D-Damn it."

----------

Day 3

----------

*Zzt, Zzzzzt, ZZZZZZTTTT!!!*

The unbearable pain in my head forced me up with a gasp as I instantly cringed due to the screeching sound.

"W-W-What the hell, t-the urge g-got stronger?", I forced myself up on my violently shaking body and laid back on a nearby tree as I noticed a small lake reflecting the light from the moon. "N-Night? How long have I been asleep?", I looked way up from where I fell from. "That's right, I fell. That dizziness must have been an effect from the berries."

Slowly, I tried to walk towards the lake but rapidly fell on my limbs. I was completely drained, "Tch, I need water. Why does my tongue feel like it's burning?"

I had no other choice but to crawl to the edge of the lake, placing my mouth over the surface and sucking in as much water as I could.

"The pain's gone", I raised my head, panting as I noticed the absurd shortage of air. "Tch, I can't even revert my eyes back to normal", looking at my reflection, I noticed those monster eyes looking back at me.

I tried and tried but nothing seemed to suppress the urge, "I'll turn savage if I don't change back." Just then, a heavy feeling left me, "Odd, it's like I just let go of something really important. Does it really matter?"

"Do you think it matters?", out of nowhere, my reflection responded.

"Heh, I'm already lost", I thought to myself as I noticed that I was about to engage in a conversation with my reflection.

"You're on land, land where survival is based on the savage nature of living beings", the reflection turned blue and shifted farther away. "You have nothing to think about. Only the main command that tells you 'The strong feed on the weak'."

The water began to rise, taking form into a gigantic alien blue wolf. Its sharp teeth were covered in saliva as its glare cut deep into mine. This feeling was familiar, very very familiar.

"You're, the source of my power"

"Exactly", the wolf chuckled. "We are the last our kind. Burst forth the hidden force that craves blood, categorise the weak."

"The weak..."

"Good, you only know them by one name", the wolf's image began to return into the water. "Go on, say it."

"My prey", the pupils in my eyes shrunk in response as the voice faded away.

"Excellent"

Day 21 in the wild

----------

"How many days have passed?", my teeth sank into the piece of flesh I obtained from a huge Argrain. "Does it matter? Why am I thinking about the number of days anyway?", I looked at the sky as I sat on its dead body that laid there on the top of the hill.

*Ssssss*

Two crawns appeared from the woods below, craving the meat of the gigantic predator bird. These aliens had the head of a snake and body of a leopard, it's fangs and two tails to crush objects to shreds. Staying in the wild helped me get used to the climate as well as the various alien animals that thrived there.

The two creatures instantly froze, standing in fright as my glare drilled a hole through them.

I looked at the huge meat I was sitting on and sighed, "I can't eat this all by myself and if other Argrains find this guy's body, they'll come chasing after me."

Argrain had an excellent navigation system built within their brain. They could instantly track anyone with their scent in a matter of seconds. The thing was that they acted strongly as a group and would avenge their fallen comrade's death. The only way to get rid of them was to get rid of all traces of their partner's corpse and luckily had two crawns come by.

I tore out a huge piece of meat and threw it in the air.

*Ssss!!*

In a mere matter of seconds, the two beats that elongated their heads and snatched it in mid-air. Unfortunately, they both got to it at the same time and began to fight over it.

"If only I had some kind of storage equipment", I closed my eyes. "This place is like a cubic prison with no resources. Heh, it's difficult being an animal with a human brain."

Almost immediately, a strange cube appeared before me. I moved back a bit, taken by surprise. "What's this?", I placed my hand in it slowly and was mesmerized by the fact that it went in. "It's like, some kind of-", my hand hit something cold.

I pulled the unknown object out and stared at it for a long while, "A black weapon?"

*BZZZZZZZT!!!*

"ACK!! The hell!?", my head began to burst in pain. I tried to throw the weapon away but my grip was too firm on it.

I jumped down, allowing the crawns to open their huge mouths to devour the dead Argrain. The pain only kept rising as memories of people flashed in my head, they were all too much. I couldn't stand it.

"G-GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!", without any sense of surrounding, I tripped over a stone and went flying down the hill. "H-Huh?", the last thing I saw before I blacked out was a huge rock.

...

--------------------------------

"Hello", a lady smiled.
