Quest, Combat & Rewards

Standing in the middle of the vast grassy plain was a frail looking young man with raven hair and cobalt blue eyes.

His eyes were gleaming with curiosity as he eyed the creatures infront of him.

The creatures are something that any gamer would recognise with just a glance. Standing at 3ft, the creatures were hideously ugly with green skin, broad nose, drooling wide mouth with long tongue-sharp fangs and pointed ears. The 10 pair of glowing eyes glared at him gleaming with a malicious intent.

Sure enough, these creatures were Goblins.

These creatures were fairly weak and dim-witted compared to other monster and wouldn't even be a threat if it was just one or two. But if in groups, they could be a real pain in the rear.

[Quest: The System Pt 1. (Combat)

The System is a product of the 'Five Elders' and has been granted to you as a gift from the 'Creator' himself. - Kill threat (0/10)

- 100 Exp

- 100 Gold

The young man understood this situation very well. He had read enough novels to know what was going on.

He did died and the medallion revived him giving him the system. He has no idea about the circumstances surrounding the medallion except it was apparently a gift from this 'Creator'. But that wasn't his main concern for now. The main concern was in front of him right now.

The system itself is heaven deifying and a cheat like existence. From what he has read that using the system one could gain unparalleled power or even achieve 'Godhood' and if his system was anything like that then maybe obtaining unparalleled power wasn't a dream anymore.

But he had no delusions about the system. System was only a means to get stronger. He would have to do the labour first to reap the benefits from system. It was clear.

The 'System' uses the 'User' and the 'User' uses the 'System'.

But he put those thoughts to the back of his mind for now.

The system has cured him of all status effects, it meant that his trauma was also gone. A grin made way to his handsome visage as he felt excitement course through his body.

His body didn't freeze when he eyed the dangerous weapons in the hands of the Goblins and it was enough evidence that is trauma was truly gone.

"Brace yourself User Leith! The Goblins are about to attack." The mind/conscience of the System, Leta informed the young man now known as Leith, as the Goblin closest to him burst into a mad sprint towards him. In his hand was a rusty dagger which the Goblin was brandishing, intending him to impale him with it.

Leith closed his eyes as he began to recall all the lessons he had learnt from his father. Due to trauma he couldn't fight back...

*Grrrr!*

But now he could.

He leaned to the left as he dodged the stab aimed for chest and quick punched the Goblin in the nose which broke with a sickening crunch upon impact.

The Goblin was momentarily stunned. Leith capitalised on this.

He grabbed the Goblin with dagger wielding hand and with flipped him onto the ground with a shoulder-throw. He maintained his grip and stomped on the Goblin's neck, crushing the windpipe. Effectively killing him.

*Ding!*

[You killer a Goblin Footman! Gained 10 EXP!]

Normally a person would feel sick after killing something or someone but Leith noticed that he didn't feel anything like that.

'It must be some sort of skill... I'll have to check it out later. For now...'

He quickly retrieved the dagger and eyed it to see if his hunch was right. And surely enough there was a prompt and the information of the dagger appeared on a mini tab.

[Rusted Dagger (Grade : F)

Durability (70/100)

- A rusted dagger. Inflicts upon attack. ]

"Alright!" Leith grinned as he turned to face other Goblins. From the corner of his eyes, he noticed the Goblin that he killed burst into particles and left behind something which was probably the 'drop'. He ignored it as he concentrated on the fight ahead.

He caught the dagger in a reverse grip which was more comfortable to him and lowered his stance while bringing his unarmed hand in front of him.

A Goblin with a bony spear rushed at him intending to skewer him. Leith tiled his body just in time as the spear nearly nicked his shoulder and then swiftly proceed to kneed the Goblin in stomach. The Goblin slouched from pain as Leith used this moment and buried the dagger into it's neck and cut it open.

The Goblin fell to ground writhing in pain.

*Ding!*

[You killed a Goblin Spearman! Gained 15 EXP!]

Leith flicked the blood of the dagger as he checked the progress in the Quest Tab.

"Two down.. Eight to go"

Leith broke into a mad sprint towards the group of the remaining Goblins who were startled by Leith's sudden actions.

Leith ran as the lessons from his father began to replay in his mind. He jumped and nailed a bow wielding Goblin with a flying knee and rolled upon landing.

He quickly regained his footing and attacked the Goblin wielding an almost broken sword. He quickly punctured the muscles of the Goblin and with a swift slash cut off his wind pipe.

*Ding!*

[You killed a Goblin Swordsman! Gained 15 EXP!]

Leith suddenly spun on his heel avoiding getting nailed by a spear and slashed the eye of the spear wielding Goblin.

The Goblin let go of the weapon and clutched his eye, screaming in agony. Leith jabbed at the Goblin with dagger and made a puncture in it's throat and kicked the Goblin in chest sending it tumbling into a Goblin Footman.

*Ding!*

[You killed a Goblin Spearman! Gained 15 EXP!]

Leith's ear twitched as he heard a swishing sound and thinking quick he rolled to the side just in time to avoid an arrow aimed for his head.

Leith rolled and made a safe distance between him and the Archer. He got up panting and gasping. Sweat dripped from his head as he tried to control his breath.

Leith had been unable to practice Martial Arts for a long time. While he still remembered the lessons taught to him by his father until now and implement them in combat, his body was simply not able to keep with this amount of strain.

His lungs burned and his muscles ached but Leith endured it. He had made his decision.

With the help of the System he was going to become strong.

Leith renewed his grip on the dagger and began twirling it. The archer's eye were drawn to the his hand moment while Leith used this distraction to eye his surrounding.

The were six Goblins left. One Archer, two Swordsman and three Footman. Footman were the weakest apparently and eliminating them first would be the easiest. But they were quite far from his position. 'No, that won't do.'

'The Archer...' The archer was the biggest problem and eliminating it would be the best course of action. But the Goblin would easily nail him with an arrow so it was difficult as well.

Suddenly his gaze fell on the spear that the Goblin had dropped. 'Hmm... Let's do this'

Leith's cold blue eyes gleamed as he reverse-gripped the dagger and made a beeline for the Archer. The archer snapped out of the daze and was startled. It growled of irritation as it hastily pulled out an arrow and aimed towards the Leith.

Leith saw this and he increased his speed.

The bow was ready to fire. Leith's eyes flashed.

'Now!'

The Goblin fired the arrow which was making way for his head. As the arrow neared Leith, Leith suddenly leaned back and lowered himself. Getting on his knees he slid below the arrow on the fresh wet grass and watched as it flew past him.

Leith then rolled forward and gripped the spear. Spinning he generated enough force and threw the spear towards the Archer.

The spear pierce through the Goblin without much resistance and impaled on the ground with Goblin kebab-ed on it.

*Ding!*

[You have killed a Goblin Archer! Gained 15 EXP!]

Leith smirked and slowly got up. He turned to the remaining 5 Goblins who hatefully growled at him.

"Alright! Let's finish this!"

*Aaaahhhh!!!*

The Goblins gave a war cry and ran towards him. Leith grinned with excitement and answered by running towards them.

*Ding!* *Ding!* *DING!* *Ding!* *Ding!*

*Pant* *Pant* *Huff* *Huff*

Leith stood in the middle of the vast grass panting and gasping hard.

He has never been this exhausted ever in his life. The white shirt that he wore was completely soaked with sweat and blood.

He let go of the broken sword and fell to his knees while groaning in pain, clutching his left arm.

The rusted dagger broke in the middle of his skirmish with a Goblin Swordsman and it nearly cost him his left arm. Thankfully he got away with a cut which was bleeding.

[You have completed the Quest!

Objective:

- Kill Threat (10/10)

Accepted Rewards? ]

A tab indicating that he had successfully completed the Quest appeared with a prompt to accept or declined the quest rewards.

"Yes..." Leith said.

*Ding!*

[You received 100 EXP!]

[You received 100 Gold]

[You received 'Starter Pack']

Multiple prompts appeared indicating that he had received the rewards but as they didn't appear infront of him, he assumed that they were transferred into the Inventory or something.

"The rewards have been transferred to the Inventory. Please say or simply think 'Inventory' to access it." Leta informing him confirming his thoughts.

"Inventory"

*Ding!*

A prompt containing multiple grids appeared. It wasn't any different to the inventory from the games, expect for his apparently has infinite grids.

'Awesome! I have an unlimited storage now! I'll have to experiment with this to know it's limitations. If it has any, that is.'

Currently all the grids were empty except one in which sat his Starter Pack that he received from the rewards.

He tried to grab the box and another prompt appeared.

[Do you want to open 'Starter Pack'? ]

"Yes"

*Ding!*

[You received Health Potion (Grade: D) ×10]

[You received Mana Potion (Grade: D) ×10]

[You received Enchanted Dagger (Grade: C) ×1]

"Wow... That's really generous of you System" Leith said with a chuckle as he retrieved a bottle of Health Potion without hesitating.

He eyed the bottle and it's content. It's a small bottle made of hard glass with crystalline pattern and it contained a red liquid that seemed to glow a bit. He eyed the bottle more intently until a small but familiar prompt appeared.

[Health Potion (Grade: D)

- Restores 100 HP

Leith opened removed the cap and took a sip from the bottle. It's taste was sweet and pleasant unlike what he had expected.

Drinking the potion he felt the wound on his left hand closing and his exhausting fade a bit.

"Wow... It was nice" Leith said after drinking the potion and watched with interest as the bottle disappeared into burst of particles.

Leith turned his focus to the other objects that were in his inventory. He ignored the Mana Potion as he knew that he didn't need it for now as he doesn't have any magic related ability. He retrieved the dagger and couldn't help but admire it.

It's beautiful dagger and even Leith who has never crafted anything like that could tell that the dagger was made with by a master.

9 inches long, a slight curved silver blade with beautiful black carvings on it and a black grip wrapped in some sort of leather. The dagger indeed looked like a masterpiece to Leith who observed it more intently.

[Enchanted Dagger (Grade: C)

- Made from a lost metal by a master blade-smith and enchanted using runes.

- Unbreakable.]

"Hahaha! This is great! Really, really great!" Leith laugh to himself and hopped to his feet. He then turned his attention to the monster drops and sighed as he saw them scattered all over the place.

Just as he was about to start collecting them manually he remembered something. He opened Inventory and turned on the 'Auto-Loot' function and watched with satisfaction as the loot disappeared from the ground and appeared in his Inventory.

Most of then was nothing but trash as one could expect from 'trash' monster. The only thing worthy of notice was the Ancient Mahogany Bow he got.

The gold was transferred to a separate section in the inventory.

"Now that you have rested well and have recovered it's time for your next Quest! Here!"

*Ding!*
