The Wizard's Tower

It was finally Saturday! After that long week of waiting, today was the day.

The tower was about the same size as most skyscrapers back on Earth. From what I heard, at the tippy top, you could see almost everything.

Despite its grandness, there was only a set of double doors at the front.

Our class was already inside the tower, just past the entrance. We waited patiently for Professor Alice to finish her business at the reception desk.

Looking around the first floor, the entire floor seemed to be sectioned into multiple work desks, or mini offices. There were stacks of paper on every desk and people could be seen either reading through the papers, or writing something on them.

Shouldn't this scene belong in an office building instead of a place called, "The Wizard's Tower?"

As I thought about that, Professor Alice came back with a man in tow. Did she seduce another man again?

"Hello students. My name is Fin Jacobs, and I will be your guide for today. Here at the Wizard's Tower, you will witness some experiments, take part in the analysis of certain formations, and possibly some hands-on experience of setting up formations. Come along now, we have no time to waste." He said, while turning his back to us.

Professor Alice went to the very back of the class and allowed Fin to guide us.

He continued talking, "The first couple floors consist of management. Many people who graduate from the Wizarding Academy come to the Wizard's Tower to work as an office worker. They do most of the grunt work here at the Wizard's Tower but they play a major role in everything else that goes on in the tower."

"The management does most of the paperwork like editing and checking over manuscripts and books about magic before publishing them for the masses. They also oversee experiment reports and file them in our records. Approval of some experiments are also handed over to them. Basically, a majority of the things that happen in the Wizard's Tower need to be approved by management before further continuation."

He brought us over to the far left corner where the stairwell was. I couldn't help but notice there was also a path to the basement but there was a gate with a sign that read, "Only Authorized Personnel."

Some of the sophomores started heading up the stairwell.

"Where are you kids going? The elevator is over here." He put his hand on a silver pad that was next to the stairwell. In a couple seconds, the walls opened up to reveal... What didcha expect? it's an elevator room. Though, I was thoroughly surprised that there was yet another invention from Earth. I was starting to think that I was in a parallel universe.

Everyone but me, Professor Alice, Rachel, and a few sophomores, gasped in awe.

The people who went up the stairs started walking down embarrassingly.

When everyone got on the elevator, I gave a subtle cough and said loud enough for Fin to hear. "How does this elevator work?"

"I have no idea, the master of the Wizard's Tower invented this elevator with her own genius mind. It would be impossible for anyone to understand her. If you want to know, you will have to ask her yourself; but as a student, you don't have the authority to schedule a meeting with her. Though, I do recall that she mentioned something about an elaborate pulley system of some sort when she presented the elevator to everyone." Fin gave me a glance and answered.

At the side of the elevator doors, there was a long list of numbers ranging from 1-99. When the blue light shined on 27, the doors opened. Exiting the elevator, the entire floor was blanched in white; it was reminiscent of a science laboratory.

A bunch of see-through glass rooms were present and in every room, there would be someone doing something in them. Looking over to the far right, my eyes caught sight of a man casting a Fire Ball into a big oven. When the flames were cleared, the man put on a pair of gloves and took a tray out of the oven. What came out was a black blob of some sort. Then, he took out a syringe labeled 2 with a blue fluid and injected it into the black blob.

Fin started talking.

"Floors 27-37 are all experimental floors. This is where most public experiments take place. Visitors and people from management are allowed to come here and watch them experiment on certain topics. There is a sign somewhere in every glass room that gives an overview of the experiment. Feel free to look around. You can use the stairs to travel between floors 27-37. Also, don't mess around too much. If some of them are free, you can even ask them details about the experiments. Have fun and stay safe, come back here in 30 minutes."

When he was done talking, I went over to the far right to watch the guy I saw earlier. As I got closer, I saw a sign next to the glass door so I went over to read it.

Topic: The Effect of Mana Quality on Magic Reversal

Overview: Is it possible to reverse a result caused by magic? Based on recent studies, it is actually possible! This test will be run over the course of a couple hundred different objects/material burned by fire magic, specifically, by the level 3 Fire Ball. But how will we reverse the effects? This experiment will test the effects of three different mana compounds that have been infused with the anti-magic and time attribute. The type-1 mana compound is mana from a normal 2nd Circle Wizard(human). The type-2 mana compound is mana from a normal 8th Circle Wizard(human). The type-3 mana compound is mana from a 3rd Circle Wizard(dragon). Dragons are mostly known for their destructive capabilities; although not much is known about them, their hearts are known to be one of the most valuable ingredients because the heart is the "mana organ." The body of dragons, or rather their flesh, when compared to all other known species, is the most compatible with mana. Because of their innate compatibility with the purest forms of mana, how would the effects of mana from a dragon differ from that of a human? If it is proven that the mana of a dragon does in fact yield greater results, the value of a dragon's carcass will skyrocket.

I looked at the black blob on the counter and after a couple minutes, it turned back into its original form. The black blob turned back into a...

It was a raw chicken...

He wrote something down in a notebook, grabbed another raw chicken from the basket, placed it into the oven, cast another fireball, and took out another black blob yet again. This time, he took out a syringe with a 3 on it. It was also blue in color.

Seconds after he injected the "mana compound," the black blob started changing. After a single minute, it turned back into a raw, plain, piece of old chicken. It took way faster than the previous trial.
