I do recall saying that I was going to visit my parents but... Why did she say she was coming with me? I thought I only agreed to going to the mountains.

She had a bright smile plastered on her face so I didn't want to say anything that would disrupt her mood. She was only a tween so I should just let her experience the feeling of innocent bliss.

"Our carriage is here!" She pointed at an extravagant horse drawn carriage.

The exterior of the carriage was in simple black and was adorned in something that resembled gold.

I compared it to all the other carriages in the surrounding and it seems to me that even among aristocrats, Rachel's family was something special.

As we approached the carriage, a middle aged man in a black suit with a black tie came out to greet us.

'Was this a butler? Let me guess, his name is Sebastian.'

"It is good to see you again Miss Rachel. And who might this be?" The man with blackish grayish hair said.

"It is good to see you too Mr. Dean. The one next to me is Daniel and he is to come with me this summer as a friend." She said in a formal manner.

Looks like all the TV shows I watched were lies. His name wasn't Sebastian.

"Shall I make arrangements for your...friend?" He said while assessing me with a hostile glare.

In this type of situation, I really didn't know what to do.

"Yes, also prepare a portal for me." She said.

"Very well, let us depart now." He opened the doors of the carriage and let the both of us in.

He closed the door for us and entered the driving seat. Now that I looked at it, the interior wasn't cramp at all and was rather comfortable. The inside was made of a red fabric of some sort and the seats seemed to nullify any bumping during the ride. Were these augmented with formations? How luxurious.

Since I had nothing to do, why don't I check out my status. I haven't been monitoring my progress recently.

Oh? When did I get the Motivated skill? I'll take it.

It looks like I still needed about 25000 Merit Points to remove the curse.

—40 minutes later—

"We have arrived, Miss Rachel." The butler said, opening the carriage doors.

'This place was big.' I thought as I looked around.

I was in a massive estate that spanned for at least a couple hundred acres. In front of us was a massive mansion. This must be Rachel's home.

Upon entering the building, other than maids and other butlers, I didn't actually see anyone noteworthy. The first thing that greeted me upon entering was a wide space with chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. There were two separate staircases that came down from both sides and directly opposite my direction was a glass door. Was that a back entrance?

The butler escorted Rachel to her room first before bringing me to a guest room.

It was really simple, a completely white bed in a white room with a simple drawer and an armchair. The windows were pretty big too, as well as the blue curtains. It kind of reminded me of the old fashioned French bedrooms I saw in that one TV show.

The butler said that someone would drop by with the blanket and pillow so I should just stay here for now. Seeing a perfectly white bed laid out before me, I dropped my bag down and went to test the bounciness of it.

Hey, don't blame me. If you were in my position, you would do the same wouldn't you?

...

The butler knocked on the door.

"Come in." Upon confirming the voice, he stepped in.

The butler stood to the side and bowed before speaking. "Miss Rachel is back, Master."

"I know. Is that it? I don't think you would waste my time just to say that Dean. Speak." The man said while continuing to read the paperwork at his desk.

"There seems to be an unexpected situation. Miss Rachel has brought home a friend to spend the summer with." Said the butler.

"Is that it?"

"A boy."

Silence soon ensued the room.

The man upon hearing the masculine term for kid clenched the paper in his hand tightly. For some reason, he was both angry and curious when he heard the mention of an unexpected guest. Why? It was because he was the proud father of Rachel, Duke Ross. What father would not be curious when their daughter had taken a liking to a male?

Finally having captivated his attention, he laid the paper down on the desk and looked at the butler in the eye.

"Tell me about it." He said in a seemingly composed manner.

"I have yet to research him but I believe he may be a commoner." The butler said.

"A commoner? Very well. Research everything about the people he is close to and his information. For now, treat him with the respect of a normal guest." Duke Ross said.

"Miss Rachel has also requested access for a portal."

"Why would she need a portal?" Said the duke.

"She did not say." Replied the butler.

—Ross's PoV—

Dean left the room after receiving my order. This matter was to be treated with the utmost importance after all. How strange, my daughter was showing interest in something other than training. This was definitely peculiar. Did he seduce her? No, that wasn't possible. The only thing that could even captivate her was the gym.

A commoner... There must be something special about him no doubt about it. There's no way my talented daughter would take a liking to anyone who wasn't special. For now, I should just observe him closely. Of course, if he turned out to be anything but special... I will personally dispose of him.
