Red stone

"My girl, you are too young for the story," said Hugo. The small girl who was talking to Hugo is his daughter. His daughter is always curious about the story about the jewel in his pocket. Hugo has been hiding the truth so that the daughter will never get into troubles.

"Papa, please tell me about the jewel," the little girl was looking at his father, hoping for the story to be told.

Hugo smiled and took out the jewel. It's a red coloured stone which glitters like all the diamonds do. "In the old days, the Chinese were fighting for this tiny stone. It takes billions dollars to buy this from our ancestors."

"Why it is still with us?" the girl asked.

"Well, if you sleep right now, I will tell you on the next day," said Hugo.

The girl closed her eyes and slept peacefully. Hugo didn't tell the real story, he just made one out of nowhere. Staring at the moon, he thought of the guy, the one who he gave his heart to.

Years ago, Hugo was a normal man in the world until he accidentally stepped into a famous school in their country.

"Excuse me, may I know where am I?" Hugo tried to ask the people next to him. This was the first time Hugo met his true love, Benedict.

"How do you get in here?" Benedict didn't answer his question but asked another question.

"I don't know, I was just in the market and just came in like instant travel."

"That's weird cause only the chosen one will enter our school."

"I know about this school too but never know that it really exist."

Benedict lead him around the school and finally approached the principal. The principal was an old guy, wearing a pair of spectacles sitting on the chair.

"Benedict, who is this?" the principal asked.

"Sir, he was accidentally here from a market."

And their conversation after that was something related to the chosen ones. "So, he might be the one we've been looking for."

Their conversation finally ended and Hugo followed Benedict to a place that looks like a church. "Hello sir, may I know where were we heading to?"

Benedict replied, "You better don't ask much and be calm when you face anything that comes next. I am Benedict and nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you. I am Hugo," he replied.

Benedict left him alone in the building and he sat silently for about twenty minutes. At the next moment, he tried to walk around as it was boring. When he stood up, Benedict came in and looked at Hugo curiously.

"You're fine? Without any injuries?"

"How can I even got injured? I was just sitting for twenty minutes."

Suddenly, they heard some noises that were similar to a baby crying. A small baby was found at the place next to where Hugo sat just now. "A baby out of nowhere?"

Then, Hugo was back at the market with the baby he was holding just now. Everything was like a daydream except that the baby was real, in his arms.

Since then, Benedict always appear at his house to help him in taking care of the kid. They were like a family, with a happy lifestyle. Hugo will always go to the market for their daily needs while Benedict will come with different storybooks for the kid. Things were good until 3 years ago. On the girl's fourth birthday, Hugo received a letter from Benedict saying that he was asked to investigate something.

He went for a journey and was never back. The red jewel was Benedict's but he left the stone in Hugo's house, which he never be able to take it back till now.

No one knows how the red jewel functions. The only hope is that Benedict would be back and they can continue their life as a whole. When Benedict left, their kid was too small that she didn't remember Benedict's existence. On the other hand, Hugo didn't tell her yet.

The girl slept, lying in her bed. Hugo was at his table, doing his job as a teacher. He took out a few stacks of books which he collected from the students. The kids in his class were performing well, all of them got a high score in their monthly test.

Hugo finished his work but it was just 10 in the night. As someone who likes to stay up late, he took out his phone to watch a movie for some fun. Out of the blue, he saw something shining brightly with red lights which makes the room brighter than it used to be.

"What is going on?" Hugo came to the box with the red jewel and realised that the stone was the source of the red lights. He didn't know what had happened but he felt something bad might happen in the next few days.

In these three years which Benedict left, he always saw random strangers on the street looking for the stones. As they don't look kind, Hugo didn't hand the stone to them, but keep it in his house.

Hugo was thinking that the jewel might expose itself to those villains. He took it to his daughter's room to keep in a safe he bought for her. As both of them knows, the password is her birthday. Slowly, he placed the jewel into the safe and locked it.

"Papa, why you haven't sleep?" the girl didn't sleep yet but realised that Hugo was in her room.

"I'm here to take something for my work. Now this is the problem. Darling, why you haven't sleep?"

"Oops! Good night dad."

"Good night," Hugo left the room happily and went for sleep.

On the next day, he sent the kid to her primary school and went for his job. Being a teacher, he always arrived at his place half an hour before school starts.

"Hugo, there's a stranger waiting for you at the front gate," said Alice, another teacher who teaches science in the school.

"I will go check it out now. Thanks," said Hugo.
