Chapter 20 - Philosopher Stone?

"Are you done messing around now?"

"Only if you stop swinging at my baseballs."

"Baseballs? You mean your-"

"yes, yes, yes"

"Like, I said my name is John W. Tree the 1,867,321 th! Do you have any specific questions for me?"

"What type of knowledge can you offer me?"

"I can offer you much more knowledge than you can imagine, I have witnessed the rise of humanity for several millennia's. I would tell you all of this information, however, it appears Gaia, has put restraints on you."

"What does that mean?"

"It means, that for some reason, even if I tell you this information, Gaia will block it."

"Oh, I see..."

'Must, be something the system has put in place, to prevent players from abusing the knowledge of NPC's...'

"Did you just think of something? I couldn't understand anything? Is it perhaps, another Gaia restriction? Where I can't read some of your thoughts?"

"This is the most likely case, Sticky."

"Hmm, ok then, I already read most of your memories and understand the general gist of your situation. You probably talk to your friends, as they are still connected to this weird telepathy thing Gaia has set up for you."

"Oh fuck..."

"yeah..."

"Sam, Dan are you guys still there?"

"Yeah, Andy we still here are you ok? You were uh, talking about some Homo stuff there..."

"Yeah don't worry about it Dan, what are you and Sam even doing right now anyways?"

"Uh, we're just questing and killing some monsters, Sam's kinda tanking right now, that's why he isn't talking."

"Ah, I see..."

"What about you? What are you doing?"

"Uh, reading..."

"Me and Sam are gonna DC from VC, so call back when you wanna hunt some monsters."

"Ah, Okay..."

[You have left VC with A__Hawk and ShadowSyther...]

"..."

"So Sticky, what should I do now?"

"Uh...read more I guess?"

"No shit, what kind of books should I read though?"

"Honestly, the books on the first floor of this library aren't super useful and contain very vague information. I could give you more information than these books could."

"Ah? Really?"

"Yeah, although, since the books are so disorganized on the first floor, you may actually be able to find quite a few treasures, in this sea of books."

"So, is there any way to find these treasures?"

"Uh, luck?"

"..."

"No super special awesome locator for books or anything?"

"Nope, I can tell you if a book is useless or not though."

And that's the story of how a man and stick shifted through hundreds and thousands of books in the library.

"Useless..."

"Useless..."

"Trash..."

"Dogshit..."

"Useless..."

"Wtf, who even wrote this are they brain dead?!"

...

"HEY HEY STOP, this book may be useful!"

"Wait really?? About time!"

"Yeah use your skill to look at the book."

[Learn how to Dodge everything that comes your way - Alexander P. Woodland.]

"Dodge everything? Can it make me dodge relationships?"

"Not funny..."

"Oh..."

"Just read the damn book..."

"Ok Ok..."

The art of dodging...

Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah...

...

You have comprehended the basics of Dodging.

[Dodging - Rare]

Tier 1 - You have a 10% chance to dodge all damage and relocate your body to 5 meters in any direction outside of the enemy attack radius.

Advancement to the next tier requires 329/1000 Agility.

"Oh? This appears to be a pretty good skill!"

"Good skill? If you get to Tier 10, you are nearly invincible except to godly interferences. I remember this Alexander kid, he traveled halfway around the world. He had made a name for himself back then."

"I think everyone called him the Womanizer since anytime someone had tried hitting him or touching him, he had just dodged. Allowing him to get away with loads of perverted acts."

"Well, until he stole assaulted the daughter of a powerful demigod over in the #$#%^&$#$^&$$%^$^& area. Then that demigod punched him so hard, that he vanished from existence. Just don't be retarded and you'll almost be unkillable once, you train this skill."

"Ah... I see."

"So do I just keep looking for books now?"

"Of course, you would be a fool not to continue looking for books. Also, can you stop being a dumb forgetful idiot, and set up a waypoint here. So you can revisit this library anytime you wish?"

"Oh shoot, I nearly forget thanks, Sticky."

"Any day kid..."

I pulled out the Medal of Recognition while praying it wouldn't suck my Mana or Health.

I then quickly set-up a waypoint before, attempting to put the thing back into my inventory.

[Error - After taking out a system grade item, the user is not allowed to put it back into the user's inventory. Please pin the medal to the user's chest in order to gain its benefits...]

"..."

"I guess, I have to pin it to my chest then."

I quickly pin the medal to my chest, before continuing on my search for good books.

I also decided to be productive and practice my transmuting talent.

To my surprise, I had been able to develop a skill for it.

[Transmute - Undetermined]

You can transmute anything as long as you have something of equivalent value and understands the object's atomic structure and properties.

There is no cost with transmuting unless the user infuses' their mana into the transmuted object, which will increase the items:

Durability, Attack Damage, Speed, and all-around attributes.

The user can also store pre-made structures and transmute the at will, without having to create the image in the user's mind.

"It appears that this is a skill that will be based on how creative the user can get and not something that will be set."

"This is a pretty interesting talent you have there, I don't believe I have seen this talent inborn in a person ever in my time alive."

"The only thing similar to this appears to be the Philsopher Stone which has been lost for thousands of years now."
