CHAPTER 8 - THE FIRST WEEK 2

As soon as they arrived in the room, Hermione and Andrew sat in the corner closest to the Professor's desk, and from that moment until the beginning of the class, they were discussing charms and the theory behind them.

It didn't take long for the students to start arriving in the classroom, Harry and Ron however, only arrived 5 minutes after the bell rang, luckily for them the teacher had not yet arrived.

"Hey, Andrew, Hermione, good morning." Said Harry and Ron, who sat on Andrew's left side.

"Seriously, how did you got here so soon? Now that I think about it, I didn't even saw you at the Great Hall." Asked Ron as he looked at Hermione and Andrew.

Andrew chuckled, "You guys are the ones who kept sleeping for hours, in the time you guys were lying in your bed, I even managed to explore a little and memorize some paths to arrive at any place I might need with ease."

"True..." Ron sighed.

"Are all the classes together with another House?" Asked Ron as he looked at the Ravenclaw students at the table opposite to theirs.

"Yes, didn't you read the timetable? Potions and flying class, for example, we will have them together with the Slytherin. You should pay more attention." Said Hermione, with her bossy tone.

Andrew could only bitterly smile at their interaction, she had told him that she heard Ron saying, that he hoped she wasn't in the same house as him. This hurt her and she is still holding some resentment towards him.

Ron just sulked and didn't answer.

"Okay, let's not fight."

"He is right Ron, lets prepare for the class." Harry sighed as he hoped they wouldn't start to fight.

"Fine!" Hermione and Ron replied at the same time.

A few seconds later, Professor Flitwick entered the classroom and went to his desk, he was a tiny little wizard who had to stand on a pile of books to see over his desk.

He started the class by making a roll call, everything was fine until the moment where he reached Harry's name, he gave an excited squeak and toppled out of sight for a few seconds.

When he calmed himself, he started to give his lecture, he started the class by explaining a few things about charms and wands, and after half an hour, he said.

"Alright, everyone! Let's see how well can you do the most simple charm of the first year, Pay attention at how I will move my wand and pronounce the spell."

Then, with a gesture of his wand, he said, "[Lumos]!" afterward a little ball of light appeared on the tip of his wand. (Thanks peachypanda for helping me fix the text!)

Seeing what he did, most of the new students looked at him with admiration in their eyes!

"Hoho lets start then, everyone practicing!"

As he said those words, the students tried to use the charm, however, a few seconds after they started, a bright light illuminated the class, making Professor Flitwick turn to see who cast that [Lumos].

Seeing Andrew, was the one managed to cast such a perfect [Lumos] spell, Professor Flitwick exclaimed excitedly!

"Ah, amazing! Such good [Lumos]! Haha, truly impressive, the last time I saw a first-years doing this spell with such proficiency was 7 years ago... how were they called again? Ah, yes! The famous, most powerful couple in Hogwarts, Hoho, if I'm not mistaken, their name was, Merula Snyde and Leonard Whiteford! For such great spell, ten points to Gryffindor!"

The students at Gryffindor table cheered and their mood became better, prompting them to focus more on the spell.

Hermione, Harry, and Ron congratulated him and they went back to try cast the spell. Seeing some students were having difficulties, Andrew got up and started to help everyone, even those who weren't from Gryffindor, which in turn, made him once again receive another ten points for Gryffindor.

When most of the students were already done with the spell, Andrew went to professor Flitwick in order to ask something.

"Excuse me, Professor Flitwick." When the professor heard Andrew's words, he stopped observing the students and turned to him with a smile on his face.

"May I help you, Mr. Jacobs?"

"Ah, yes, actually, I was just wondering who are the ones you mentioned earlier?" Asked Andrew with curiosity in his eyes.

"Oh you mean, Ms. Snyde, and Mr. Whiteford? They are students from Slytherin. If I'm not mistaken this year should be their last one, the boy is one of the best students I ever had, and Ms. Snyde, is extremely talented as well, but she has to work a little bit on her personality, it's a pity that the boy's brother, Jacob if I'm not mistaken, was expelled, he had such a promising future..."

"Oh, I didn't know..."

"Don't worry, Mr. Jacobs. Now, unless you have other questions I shall return to my duties." Seeing that Andrew nodded at him and returned to his seat, Professor Flitwick smiled and went to assist some of the remaining students.

...

Beng!

When the bell rang, everyone got up from their seats and after saying goodbye to Professor Flitwick, they left the class, as they had a break now, everyone went to different places, Harry and Ron decided to visit the courtyard, and Hermione went to the library. Having nothing better to do, Andrew decided to breathe a little bit of fresh air, then he went to the ground near Hagrid's hut and laid down on the green grass under the shadow of a tree, just to rest and watch the clouds in the sky...

A few minutes later, he heard something that piqued his interest, it was the voice of two girls, he did not recognize them, but judging by the tone of the voice, they must have been between 16 and 17 years old at least.

"...Did you saw his letter?"

"Yes, Jacob failed, it seems... Do you believe it?"

"No, he is Leonard's older brother! He survived worse things, how would they manage to capture him?"

"Then... Do you think it's a trap? Maybe, the cabal probably wants to lure us out of Hogwarts, I smell that bastard hands on this! The next meeting will be held in a month, in Hog's Head Inn once again, Leonard said we need to be careful, I prepared I few invisibility capes for us, remember to use the secret passage behind the mirror on the fourth floor, and make sure no one follows you! Its possible that death eaters are lurking around the school grounds..."

Hiding behind one of the trees around the place where the girls were passing through. Andrew managed to catch a glimpse, of the girls' appearance.

One was a young witch with a pale heart-shaped face and dark twinkling eyes, with bubblegum-pink short and spiky hair. The other one had short and messy dark brown hair, with one area an orange color, and violet eyes, she also had a wild and violent aura around her.

Seeing that they were gone, he sighed and thought about their words, in the end, he couldn't understand much, however, one thing that he knew, was that he had seen the girl with violet eyes before, in the vision he had after the sorting ceremony.

...

When the bell rang once again, to announce the beginning of another class. Andrew was already seating in the front rows of the transfiguration class together with Hermione, Harry and Ron were in the table behind them, and in the professor's desk, a cat was observing the classroom.

After the last student took his place, the cat jumped down from the desk, transforming into Professor McGonagall, making the students gasp, she looked at everyone with strict eyes.

"Transfiguration is some of the most complex and dangerous magic you will learn at Hogwarts," she said. "Anyone messing around in my class will leave and not come back. You have been warned."

Then she changed her desk into a pig and back again. They were all very impressed and couldn't wait to get started, but soon realized they weren't going to be changing the furniture into animals for a long time. After taking a lot of complicated notes, they were each given a match and started trying to turn it into a needle.

By the end of the class, only Andrew and Hermione managed to transform the match into a silver needle. Professor McGonagall showed the class how it had gone all silver and pointy and gave the duo a rare smile.

When the class ended and everyone left the class, Ron started to complain, with all his force, how difficult and boring the classes are.

"Ahhh, if all the classes end up being like that one, I think I'm going to die before the end of the year, and even worse, this is only the first day and they are already giving us homework, how can anyone do so many things in a single day?"

"It truly is tiring, the classes are way different then what I expected." Said Harry, agreeing with Ron.

"That's because you two don't study, and waste your time with some useless activity, like playing that weird and violent chess game in the courtyard!" Replied Hermione.

"Uh? It's only the first day! You are the only one who finished studying the class books, and keeps studying at the library during the break!" Said Ron with a sulked expression on his face.

"That's where you are mistaken, Andrew came to the library as well, and he also finished studying the class books!"

Harry and Ron looked at Andrew with a pale face and awe in their eyes.

"Well, I rested a little, then went to the library in order to study some interesting subjects, nothing much," Andrew replied while trying to avoid the matter about reading all the class books.

"Heavens, I'm surrounded by crazy nerds!" Ron looked at the ceiling and sighed.

"Hahaha, let's go eat something at the Great Hall." Said, Harry, with a smile on his face.

But before they could take their first step, a boy shouted from behind them.

"Can I go with you guys?"
