Lost and Sacrifice

I slid down the cave and exited the cave. When I exited the cave, I saw Roth, who is looking down at the parts of the crash plane. When I saw the crash plane, my guilt grew another fold. In the back of my mind, everything I do will fall apart or break. Roth saw that I was sad when I saw the crashed plane and encouraged me that it wasn't my fault.

Roth: 'Lara, it wasn't your fault." he said, trying to comfort, but this time I didn't believe him.

Lara: "I called them here, and I killed everyone who was on board on endurance... I almost killed Joseph when I suggested we come here on this godforsaken island" I wanted to cry in guilt when suddenly my mind remembered that Joseph was with Roth. I looked around, and I didn't find Joseph around. When I saw that he wasn't here, I sighed in relief.

Roth: "hey don't beat yourself up for that it wasn't your fault, and Joseph didn't die," he said while hugging me, I cried in guilt as I remembered the people I had to kill just to survive "Lara you have good instincts for things you just happened to follow that to lead us here. And besides, it should have been me who needs to be blamed for all of this. I shouldn't have taken our ship here when there was a storm raging in the sea."

I was going to argue back saying that if it weren't for my suggestion, you wouldn't have gone here in the Dragon's Triangle, but suddenly we heard an SOS call from my radio.

???: Mayday! Mayday!" he said via radio " This is co-pilot Jessop aircraft N177A." I grabbed my radio and tried to talk to him, but the pilot couldn't hear me. "I got severely hurt. I need immediate aid, is anyone there?"

Lara: "captain Jessop I am here," I said desperately.

Jessop: "I already deployed a smoke signal. Please respond." After hearing this, through the radio, I only heard more static noise.

Lara: "Damit, he can't hear me. I have to get to him," I said while looking for a smoke signal that Captain Jessop deployed. After a quick search in the area, I saw a signal flare smoke in the distance. I was going to save the pilot when Roth stopped me.

Roth: "No," I looked at him in confusion and saw a sad look on his face.

Lara: "he is just right there in the distance." I said while pointing at the rising blue smoke nearby. Roth didn't bother looking at the signal and started talking to me.

Roth: "Lara, we have our people we need to worry about, when Joseph gets here, we need to regroup with the others as soon as they find Sam."

Lara: "I can't just leave him alone there, I need to get to him," I said while trying to walk away, but Roth grabbed my hand and looked at me with a stern look on his face.

Roth: "Lara, I know you blame yourself for all of this mess, but sometimes you need to make sacrifices." he said while looking at me with a worried look on his face. "You can save everyone, Lara." I took away my arm and looked at him with a stern look on my face.

Lara: "I know about sacrifices. I said toward Roth.

Roth: "No, Lara, you only know about loss." he said while looking at me with a worried look on his face. ". A sacrifice is a choice you make. Lost is a choice made for you. Like when you felt lost when Joseph went missing and the crew that died," I looked at Roth and said my final words.

Lara: "I can't choose to let him die, Roth." I said, walking away.

---Joseph pov---

When I reached the village, I saw the front half of the plane that crashed. I scanned the area and saw Roth on top of the mountain nearby. Roth right now was facing the destroyed aircraft while talking to someone on his radio. I ran towards him and climbed up some buildings to reach him. Roth noticed and put down his receiver. I scanned him and saw that he is now using makeshift crutches to walk towards me.

Roth: "kid, your back... We should head out now; the others have tracked down Sam to an old place down the mountain." he said, while walking away, I looked around and didn't find Lara around. Roth noticed me looking around for any signs of Lara.

Roth: "don't worry about her. She could take care of herself; she just needs to do something alone for a while." he said while sighing at the end of his words.

Joseph: "what happened to Lara, didn't you say she would be here." I looked at him questioningly.

Roth: "Lara and I have some disagreements, and she just needed to be alone for a while." I wasn't going to follow Roth towards the others, but Roth stopped me from leaving.

Roth: "Look, Joseph, I don't know what happened to you in the past, but you being overprotective of someone might hurt them someday, or you have probably hurt them along time ago," he said while sternly looking at me, "based on how you act you probably lost someone dear to you, and you don't want to lose another one again." When I heard his words, I stayed silent, but Roth noticed my hands twitched a bit, which confirmed his words.

Roth: "I will say this; thank you for being with Lara. You have helped her open up her true potential. She just needs a little push that all," he said while smiling at me. "When I am gone, I want you to help Lara through her tough times and support her." I stared at him for a minute before sighing in defeat.

Joseph: "fine, if Lara is in any trouble, I will drop everything and go after her." I said seriously towards Roth, who looked at me and just nodded. Finishing our conversation, we slowly descend the mountain to meet up with everyone.
