---Lara pov---
I am currently in Arizona, traveling on a jeep towards Devil's Pass near the Grand Canyon. After coming back from the island, he decided not to go back home to New Zealand. Instead, he traveled here in North America.
I looked out the vehicle and saw no life insight. Only water that is blocked by a massive Dam from God knows how many kilometers away. All of a sudden, I felt goosebumps all over me. I looked around and didn't see anything that could endanger me.
When I got back from Yematia, I felt that someone was watching me from afar. I tried to locate who was watching me. But I failed to find any hints to where they are spying on me from even now. So far, they haven't done anything to me and the others, and it seemed to me they are only watching me.
While I was looking at the desert, I thought to myself, why would Jonah live here. Unlike his brother and sister, who has some Asian descent, Joanah was a full-blown Maori man. Maori people love green things and the sea. Jonah, deliberately living here, goes against his beliefs and culture.
Tour guide: "your one smart girl for hiring me. I am the best tour guide here in these parts." he said with a broad southern accent. He scanned me with his lustful gaze from head to toe. "What's a fine girl doing out here?" when I saw his gaze, I brought my climbing ax out just in case if he does anything funny to me.
Lara: "Just visiting a friend," I said while I stayed alert from him. He saw my climbing ax, and through that, I am here to climb with my friends.
Tour guide: "I see you must be here to climb the spires with your friend." when he said that, I just stayed silent, not bothering to answer his words. "Most people come here to climb the spires, but most people go missing or are found dead." I didn't bother talking to this creepy man.
I saw a trailer in the distance and knew that I was getting close to Jonah's trailer home. The Tour guide didn't delay and headed towards the van.
Tour Guide: "We're here, miss… I will wait here until you come back." he said while stopping in front of the trailer. I just nodded and got off the jeep and headed towards the front door of Jonah's home.
Lara: "Jonah, are you there? Jonah, its Lara, let me in." I said while knocking on the door. I didn't hear anybody coming, so I tried to turn the doorknob. I was surprised that the door was unlocked. I didn't hesitate to go and have a look around his home. "Sorry for barging in…"
I looked around and found out that almost everything inside the trailer is in a clear plastic bag. I looked around and found Jonah's family photo album, not inside a plastic bag. I saw his entire family except for his father in one picture. Then I saw Joseph's loving smile and felt a sting in my heart. I remembered my dreams that I tried to kill him with an arrow.
I shook my head to forget that memory I was going to look around some more. When suddenly I heard someone behind me. I was going to attack the person who was sneaking up behind me. But I changed my mind when I heard Jonah's voice.
Jonah: "Don't move…" he said while pointing his gun towards me. I looked at him and saw that he has a confused look on his face while pointing his gun at me.
Lara: "Jonah, it's me, Lara," I said, trying to talk to him.
Jonah: "Don't lie to me. I know who you are, your one of them," he said while shaking in fear while pointing his gun at me. I looked at him with a questioning look on my face and asked him a question.
Lara: "Who are you talking about, Jonah." I said while looking at him with a worried look on my face.
Jonah: "they followed us form the island," he said while he stopped, pointing his gun at me.
Lara: "what? The Solarii are gone, you don't have to worry about them anymore Joseph made sure of that." I said while trying to get close to him to try to disarm him. But he then pointed the gun back at me again.
Jonah: "You don't get it. I have been having nightmares that a curse would kill me," he said while shaking in fear. "In my dreams, I would always be killed in the water."
Lara: "what made you think that the Solarii cursed you." I said while backing away from Jonah.
Jonah: "we took something on that island… we took a piece of his house," he said while lowering down his weapon and started thinking to himself. "In my dreams, there is always someone warning me about a person named Ka."
Lara: "what did you take from the island?" I said while worriedly looking at him.
Jonah: "we took four gold items from his house, and now he sent his four guardians to bring us four calamities." he said while he started to break down and cry in front of me. He then pointed his gun at his head. "Lara, my little bird, I can't hurt you. But I could end myself to stop the curse from happening."
He was about to pull the trigger, but I grabbed his arm and pulled his hands away from his head. But because he is more robust than a normal man, I wasn't even able to pull his hands that were holding a gun away from his head. I looked around for anything I could use to stop him from committing suicide when suddenly I saw the photo album that I flipped through before.
Lara: "what about your family? What should I say to them? Your Mother, your sister Mia, and Joseph." I said while worriedly looking at him. "Joseph will blame me for not stopping you from killing yourself." Jonah heard my words and started to second guess what he should do right now
When I saw him confused and lost, I was going to grab the gun off his hands, but suddenly I was now up in the air. I looked around and saw that the trailer was now leaking with water. The van started spinning around as more water came in.
Lara: "how could this be possible were in a desert there should be any mass of water nearby." I said while trying to find a way out of this flooding trailer home. "Fuck, the door is jammed. Jonah, help me on this door."
Jonah: "Lara, it's okay," he said while grabbing a life jacket that floated around. He then looked at me and made me wear the life jacket. "Take this and go, Lara."
Lara: "What about you Jonah," I said while looking around for another life jacket. I looked at Jonah and saw a sad smile on his face. When I saw his face, I knew what he was trying to do right now as he kicked out the window. "No, I can't just leave you here, Jonah… Joseph will blame me."
Jonah still kept kicking the window until his leg finally went though he then walked towards me and hugged me.
Jonah: "Lara Joseph will not blame you. It's quite the opposite; he will blame himself for not protecting his family." he said while lifting me and carrying me towards the window he just broke through. "And Lara, don't use me as a reason for not seeing my brother," he said before trying to push me through the window.
Lara: "Jonah, don't do this; we could escape together." I said. At the same time, I was struggling out from his arms.
Jonah: "Goodbye, Lara…" he said before pushing me through the window.
