The girls had a peaceful evening. At night, Corrie was contemplating whether she should tell Nina about her or not. She couldn't sleep, she tossed and turned and finally decided to tell her first thing in the morning. Only after that did she have a sleep.
The next morning---
"Nina i-i have something to tell you".
Nina thought it must be serious because her tone was sad.
"What is it girl?"
Corrie took Nina's hands into hers,"Believe me when i say this to you ..please."
"Okay, i will"Nina scrunched her brows together thinking what might have happened to this optimistic friend of hers.
She listened intently and nodded a few times and was gasping in shock when the story came to an end.
"Y-You mean to say that...what??!!!!!", Nina's eyes almost popped out.
But after giving it some thought, she did think it was possible.
"What happened to Aspen then?"came her question after a long silence.
"I havent looked into it yet and i am ending things with Vince. I am so sorry to break it to you like this. I didnt mean anything"
Nina took the crying Corrie into her arms, she now understood her friend's mood yesterday.
"So, you will go today?"
"Yes i have to, i want to see how everything turned out i just hope that the Aspen would be a bit more better."
"Hmm okay, I shall accompany you"
"No i need some time alone with Vince and myself too."
Afternoon---
At the college, Corrie called Vince in the cafeteria,"Vince i am in the food court. My treat today"
After some time, he came dressed neatly yet casual ..his usual style.
"You feel down, what happened", he just asked.
"I want to tell you something Vince. Hope you dont mind."
"I dont wanna take your classes again. The students there are too boring hehe just kidding, what is it?"
Corrie asked Vince to end things with her while Vince just sat there and listened to her looking deep into her eyes with no emotions.
"So its over huh?"
"I am sorry Vince but i had to. I am not good enough for you. You should find someone who is better with you", Corrie smiled weakly. She was hurt.
Vince could not believe what he had just heard, he was too shocked that he even forgot to react. He felt down.
"Vince, thank you for everything", Corrie took his hands and tears seeped out from her eyes.
Everyone at the cafeteria had left by now since it was time for the classes.
So Vince took the chance and pulled Corrie towards him and kissed her.
Corrie was surprised ...and pulled away after some time.
"Thank you", Vince murmured and went away.
"I know you did it for my own good so", the words came out as he walked out.
Corrie was hurt yet again when she heard those words.
Towards the evening, Corrie went to the library and sat down at her corner.
There was a book on the kingdom of Aspen, it looked rather well kept. The book wasn't like this when she had first started reading it.
She opened it and saw that the history of Aspen had changed dramatically since she had last read it.
The Great War which was to occur had ended with Aspen's and North Kingdom's joint victory and Axel was crowned King after 2 years of the war. She wandered why he had waited so long but something struck her...he must have felt heartbroken. She broke down in tears again.
Towards the last pages were portraits of the great people. The Queen was there with some other Kings of the ancient. Genral Hayner was there too, Corrie thought he looked more handsome in portraits. Atlast the picture she had been dreading...Axel stared at her with dark gleaming yet cold eyes.
She saw sadness in his eyes and the portrait was made just after he was made King so he must have not been taking care of himself well with all the tasks and all.
Corrie missed him very much, she was drowning in deep sorrow....
