Digging deep

Corrie spent the whole remaining day in the library burying her head in the books.

She surprisingly found many books on Aspen. The history had changed. According to the books, Aspen became one of the most noted place for literature, developments and economics. The kingdom flourished specially under the rule of the King Axel. But it was a pity that he had no wives, he adopted a son which he brought up from a very tender age, trained him to be the finest king.

As the sun was setting, Corrie got a call from Nina,"Hey girl, if you are done. You should come back home now. I prepared a meal for you today", she chirped happily.

Corrie,"Okay, im coming soon"

"See you then"

Corrie looked at the time and sae that she had been sitting there for hours.

She went out in the campus and was going to her car when the Dean stopped her.

"Corrie wait!"

"Ahh...good evening Mr. Quin"

"Yes good evening. I wanted to talk to you abput your papers on the Aspen kingdom"

"I am still working on it. Is there anything Professor?"

"Yes yes, you have been researching on Aspen for so long now so you are the most talented in this field. So i would like to ask you to write a thesis on the kingdom.

You know, all of us are surprised when we knew about Aspen, i dont know how we could have missed such an important factor in the development of the ancient world."

Corrie was surprised and flusttered when she was asked to write a thesis "Umm Professor, there are many people talented than me..."

"But they are not familiar with the kingdom as much as you are. I have seen your previous thesis and works, its outstanding no wonder you accomplished so much at such tender age. You are the right person. The higher ups had already agreed to it and had asked me to pursuade you for it. It is a great opportunity. You deserve it"

The Dean was honest with his every words and since the higher ups had already decided she found no reason to decline it.

"Thank you Professor for your acknowledgement. I will start prepping for it by tomorrow"

She was down and now her mood had improved a bit. But while making the decision, she felt that she would never go back again anymore because she felt she had used up all her fate's goodness. Little did she know, fate had a way of making whatever is destined to be fulfilled.

Corrie was so ecstated that she drove home fast and told the exciting news to Nina. Nina was so happy for her, at least she found something to soothe her. But a thought lingered in her mind'What if she get too attached to it and what if she feels heartbroken while reading about that person...'

She was told everything about what had happened after Corrie disappeared in Aspen, she was too shocked that no words came from her mouth for some couple of minutes.

"H-He really loves you....eh? You are so lucky haha!",Nina bickered.

Corrie flushed but she was sad that that lerson was no more by her side.

If she was to research on Aspen, then she would have to go to the place where the newly found ruins of Aspen laid...
