Chapter 4: Eyes

My wolf senses reached out as a smell carried on the air. The scent was that of James. I pushed my senses farther trying to pick up any other shifters. I detected no other beings and my worry died down a little. He must have come alone. Maybe he could be trusted, but why was he trusting me not to attack him?

I watched James reach the old brush and look around. He had a soft and beautiful face from what I could see. He had blonde hair that was short on the sides and longer on top. His skin was a nice natural tan and reminded me of someone that worked outside a lot. His height was definitely over six feet and his muscles rippled as he moved. If I had to fight this man things would go very badly for me. I had to see his eyes. Growing up I discovered you could tell a lot from someone's eyes. You could see the good or the bad inside their depths.

He sniffed at the air and disappointment briefly crossed his face. He sat down a couple water bottles and a plastic container and backed away.

"I brought you some food. Please shift to human and come eat it. I promise I won't get any closer then this", he spoke in that honey voice and my body wanted to obey. He must have some alpha inside him.

I gathered all the courage inside me and began to push myself up from the ground. It was now or never. His eyes darted to my new brush pile and focused on my moving form. I limped out and a tiny whimper crossed my lips. He took a step and I stopped. He retreated back and I began limping towards the food and water again. When I reached it I sat down panting. If he was going to hurt me then now would be that time. I braced myself for the possible attack.
