Spirits

„Damn it!", Tristan cursed. During his fall, his shirt ripped open, due to him falling against rocks and cliffs. And to top all of that, it even started to rain.

Tristan looked around, he was in between the giant steep mountains, the ground was mainly stone, but there were some spots of dirt here and there. These spots quickly turned into mud with the help of the rain.

It was a lot of rain, if it were to go on like this, he might even need to find higher grounds.

There was not a single hint of life anywhere, he must've been unconscious, because the golems weren't there either.

He looked up to see if he could fin the village, and there it was. The village, on a mountain.

He started walking towards the mountain, not caring about if there's actually a way up at that mountain, and also not noticing the bridge, hanging from one mountain, to another close one.

But before he could go to far, he came across a giant puddle.

He sighed and started walking through it. The water went under his knees, it felt awfully squishy.

But he couldn't rest, when he almost got it, he felt something move. The water made little waves.

Something was in the water.

Tristan started running, but to no avail. Something tentacle like wrapped around his foot and pulled him to the ground.

Another tentacle wrapped around his hips, pulling him stronger to the center of the puddle.

Tristan couldn't get any grip, and he was taken by surprise.

It was also just then, when he noticed that the puddle was growing really fast.

He had a hard time getting air, another tentacle slithered onto his neck and head and pushed it down.

„AH-

Tristan pushed his head up with all his force, and managed to rip the tentacle holding his head. But that just made the monster even angrier, two more tentacles appeared and pulled his arms.

Tristan began to panic.

He had no temperature resistance, no grip and he couldn't breath well. Things weren't looking good for him.

He started to struggle, move as much as he could. He could already feel the ground sinking into a deep hole.

More and more tentacles arose from that hole and grabbed him.

He screamed, no one heard of course, as it was underwater.

And then, Tristan fell.

He woke up, after once again being unconscious.

Tristan found himself in a dark cave, there didn't seem to be any exits. But it wasn't wet, no water.

In the middle of the Cave he noticed a glowing figure.

It was a, physically, shining woman. She had vines covering her body. She was standing on a platform, about a meter higher than the ground. Vines grew on that platform and went straight up to the ceiling, where he saw a hole. Above that hole was the water.

This woman pulled him down here.

Tristan went into a fighting stance. The woman opened her eyes and looked at him.

Their eyes met and a sharp pain went through his body.

Tristan broke down. The pain was so immense that he couldn't feel anything else. His ears started ringing. He opened his mouth to scream, but he couldn't hear anything.

After a minute, the pain stopped. Tristan panted.

„Now you.", the woman said.

Tristan looked at her, confused.

„Go on.", she said.

„What do you mean?", Tristan asked, still cautious.

„It's a tradition. I'm a purple spirit, you can see that in my eyes. Purple spirits have the tradition, that when they meet a new person, they show each other their power. It's to show who's boss. But there is one rule, no killing or mortal wounds.", she explained.

„Ok. Then it's my turn. And you won't do anything?", he asked.

„Correct.", she said.

After thinking for a while, Tristan decided on Splitter Orb.

He took a deep breath and held up his hand.

„[Splitter Orb]", he said.

The small dark orbs appeared in front of him, but they didn't move. With a hand signal, they started going forward and surrounded the spirit.

Tristan looked at her. Then he clenched his hand to a fist. The dark orbs started going down on the Spirit, one after another.

She started screaming, wich only led to Tristan sending some into her mouth. She choked on them and fell to the ground, the orbs were still bombarding her, and Tristan was creating new ones.

The spirit was now on the floor, the vines trying to protect her. This went on for another minute and then Tristan stopped.

„So who wins?", he asks.

The spirit had a hard time standing up. Burn wounds covered her entire body.

„I have never seen such strength before! Who are you? No, what are you?", she asked, still shaking.

„I'm just a normal boy.", Tristan answered, „Now, why am I here?", he asked. After all, the spirit was the one to pull him down.

„Oh, right. We purple spirits are descendants of the god of fire, Inferno. He has a message for you:

Hello, mortal. I am Inferno, the Hof of Fire. I have noticed your presence on this planet and I followed your actions. Know that I will talk to the great four in one week. And that day will be your last. Ne warned.", during the message from inferno, the spirits voice changed and her eyes glowed red like fire. When the message ended, it stopped and she looked at him.

„I hope you can understand why I can't let you go, right?", she asked.

„I'm sorry but I have places to be.", Tristan answered. At the edge of his field of vision, he saw some vines moving on the walls of the cave.

„Please do not resist, otherwise I am forced to use my powers.", the spirit said.

„Then so be it.", Tristan answered.

He went into a fighting stance yet again.

„[Creation]", he whispered, a katana like sword appeared on his hip.

He sensed something coming from behind.

„[Acceleration]", Tristan dashed forward, while doing so, he pulled out his new sword and slashed it at the spirit, who just so managed to block with some vines.

„How's that?", Tristan asked jokingly, „unfortunately you blocked, but don't think that's all I can do.", he added.

„You! I told you to not resist!", she started shooting vines at him, from every direction.

„Sadly, I can't kill you. But coincidentally my Lord said nothing about a little bit of fun", she had a wide grin on her face.

There were so many vines, that Tristan eventually got caught, the vines tangled around him.

„Do you know how spirits happened? Well you see, we purple spirits are not only descendants of our Lord Inferno, but also from the great mother Ruby, or for you the god of earth and nature.", she explained, „the catch is, I can do more than just throw plants at you. For example this!", she started laughing.

The vines catches fire, but only at the start. The fire slowly spread towards Tristan. He was thinking quick, he couldn't reach his sword and the vines were to many and to hard to rip them apart and get away with it.

The fire came closer.

„3!", the spirit said.

The fire was really close now.

Killing the spirit was no option, the fire wouldn't vanish, as it had the plants as a base, and the plants wouldn't just disappear, because they could survive like this.

(Quick lesson in elemental magic: Fire magic usually disappears when you are done casting, as it needs something to burn on, if it doesn't have your mana anymore. Water stays, when you're done casting it would fall to the ground and sink in. Wind or air would dissolve into the rest of the air, so technically it would disappear too. Earth would also just stay there, because it doesn't need anything to stay alive. Shadow would disappear with light, because it looses its power without mana. Light would dissolve too, but just like shadow in light, light in shadow would disappear too, as light needs a source without mana.)

„2!", time was ticking.

„1", the Fire was so close, when Tristan had an idea,

„[Spears of darkness]", he said. He turned the spears towards the vines and cut them open. The fire had nothing to burn and died out, the vines weren't connected to mana anymore, so they were normal vines now, he quickly got rid of them.

„You! How dare you?!", the spirit was angered.

„Ok, bye!", Tristan said and casted [Splitter Orb], before the spirit could do anything.

As soon as the spirit died, the cave rumbled and the hole in the middle broke, water flooded the cave.

But because it wasn't very much water it wasn't that bad. Tristan climbed out and continued his walk through the rain.
