The Spies

„Ready when you are.", Tristan said and smiled mockingly.

„Try to stay alive!", Tasaki replied. He was quite confident in his sword skills, but he knew he couldn't let Tristan get a hit. He must act quick and smooth, otherwise he would lose.

He pounced at Tristan and slashed his sword, but Tristan easily blocked the incoming attack. Tasaki didn't back off and attacked Tristan continuously, not leaving him a chance to retaliate.

Of Tristan were a normal mortal, this would've probably been the end for him, but he wasn't. He dodged and evaded all attacks from Tasaki with ease.

„Not Bad. You must be a good sword fighter. For a normal human that is. Not enough for me!", Tristan commented.

The next second he vanished from where he was standing and instantly appeared behind Tasaki.

„He is just toying with me!", Tasaki mumbled.

„I will end this fight now.", Tristan said and punched Tasaki right in his stomach.

Tasaki flew backwards into the wall, wich created cracks and a loud boom.

After hitting the wall Tasaki fell to the floor, where he remained for a few seconds.

„Who are you exactly? Who are you really?", Tristan asked him, but Tasaki only looked up to Tristan's face, smiling.

„I told you, I'm your classmate Tasaki.", he said.

„Yeah whatever.", Tristan said.

„What the hell is going on here?!", suddenly five guards brushed into the room.

„I'm out of here.", Tristan said and disappeared into thin air.

„Hey, you! You're not allowed to be here.", a guard said to Tasaki, who didn't have the ability to teleport.

‚What is up with him? He is super strong, we'll need a new tactic, we can't face him head on.', Tasaki was lost in thought, completely ignoring the guards slowly approaching him.

„Hey! I'm talking! Who are you and why are you here?", the guard asked him.

Yet another person entered the room behind the guards.

„You can let him go.", a young feminine voice said.

The guards turned around, facing a young girl in what appeared to be the academy uniform for students.

„And who are you? Get out of here, I'm taking you to the headmaster.", the guard replied.

„Sleep.", the girl said and stretched out her hands. It was almost not noticeable, but small slightly glowing particles emerged from her hand and surrounded the guards.

Their vision got blurry and they heard a ringing.

„What the...", one guard said before collapsing on the floor.

„Took you long enough, Elaine.", Tasaki said.

„Hmpf. Shouldn't be so reckless.", the girl called Elaine replied.

„Yeah yeah. Anyway, I met this boy, Tristan.", Tasaki said, stepping out back into the arena, where the people were already leaving.

„And...?", Elaine asked.

„He is strong. We can't face him head on, we need a plan, a good one.", Tasaki replied.

„Let's meet up with Kamao first. We will then decide our approach.", Elaine didn't wait for him and walked towards the exit.

Tasaki silently followed.

„Hey, Kamao. What did you find out?", in a dorm room of the academy, Elaine was meeting with Tasaki and Kamao.

„After using my [Eagles Eye], I found out Tristan is from the crippling kingdom of Kathul. He was first sighted on wanted posters actually. Nothing big, he killed a Baron or something. But wait, there's more. He registered as an adventurer there, reason unknown, he never did anything for the guild. But they keep record of their people. When he first applied he had Magica of 1000! It's like he is not even human.", Kamao told them.

Kamao was a great spie when it comes to observation and tailing.

His combat prowess or physical strength in general weren't the best, but he was the best at information gathering. He possessed skills like [Eagles Eye], wich lets him view a place from the sky. Of course he can only see places he knows, he also can't see through buildings.

„Hm. I see. Does he seem to have any weaknesses?", Elaine asked.

„I don't think he has many. From what I've gathered our best chance is heat, say a fire.", Kamao explained.

„That would be hard. When I fought him, he teleported away, so he would need to be unconscious. And he would need to stay asleep until he would die. That's quite a challenge.", Tasaki mentioned.

„Ok, we will need more information. First a place where we can kill him, second a method of killing him and third ensuring that he won't kill us beforehand.", Elaine said, „I think it's best if we spy on him a while, get to know how he works, what he likes and how we can lure him into a trap.", she continued.

„Yes, I agree. But we need to be careful and I can't be seen with you two, since I spoke with Tristan already. Our chances are better if he doesn't know who I'm working with.", Tasaki proposed to do the spying part in person, Kamao could help him from afar.

„Good. I will contact our benefactor and see if we need to know anything else.", Elaine excused herself and left the room.

In the Next room.

„We need as much information as we can get."

„We don't know anything about him, he is probably getting stronger by the minute, so strike as soon as possible. We will grant you a maximum of two months. By then he should be dead. Be careful, he is not to be underestimated. We gave you this job because we have trust in your abilities. Do not disappoint us."

„Of course."

Elaine entered the room again with a gloomy expression.

„What's wrong?", Tasaki asked.

„We have two months.", Elaine answered and sat down at a table.

„Two months? That's impossible!", Kamao was a bit outraged.

„It has to be enough.", Elaine said.

„Cheer up, we will find a way!", Tasaki tried to lighten the mood, but it didn't really help.
