Chapter 70: The Quiet that's still here

It's been a week now since Arthur and Dorothy were kidnapped by one of the pillars of the Darkness Organization, Sanity, and since then nothing has been happening lately and they haven't been able to make contact with Merlin either since then.

"Sanity mentioned me and Dorothy were the chosen Ruler and Servant class? I wanted to know what he meant.. maybe Merlin would know.. but we never saw him after that day."

Atalanta and Aiden hops into Arthur's window, and once they made it inside, she opens the door and Arthur was laying on the sofa, Dorothy was playing with Anna and Saya was cooking for lunch.

"Yow?."

"Atalanta!!."

Arthur opens his eyes and is calm about this considering how many times Atalanta and Aiden would do this almost every time, He sits on the sofa and asks,

"Any word of Merlin?."

"Yes, This is for both of you."

In her hand, Atalanta handed them a letter from Merlin, they know it's from Merlin himself because of a pink petal as a seal, Arthur accepts and opens it on the spot, he clears his throat and says,

"Dear Lovebirds,

If you are wondering about Tazer and the girl, they're fine thanks to the two of you.. I won't be able to explain things carefully here in a letter though so by next time we meet I'll explain everything."

"He could've just explained it here instead of making up an excuse not to--- Arghhhh!!."

Dissatisfied from Merlin's letter Arthur's crumples it and throws it on the ground, While Atalanta remembered something and picked something from her pocket.

"Here."

"Huh?."

"It's still from Merlin's."

Suspicious of the second letter in Atalanta's hand he was hesitating for it until Dorothy who was carrying Anna from behind took the letter without a second thought and scared the heck out of Arthur.

While Aiden walked towards Saya who was busy cooking, she was wearing an apron was mixing something, It looks like she's making pancakes, Aiden thought.

"Hey Say---!."

"No, you can't have these Aiden, these are for my Master and Anna's."

"Heh? what about---."

"And Arthur too."

"But I just wanna..."

"I said NOOOO."

Aiden walks back towards the Sofa depressed and as he passes by Dorothy reads out the second letter while Anna was peeking from behind.

"And also Arthur."

Dorothy stopped and gave a long pause for suspense, as Atalanta already knew what she was doing and decided to take a seat.

"What a mean thing to do, to crumple an effort letter that I made with love."

And once again after hearing the words that come out of Dorothy's mouth Arthur grabbed the letter she was reading and tear it apart, Anna was giggling from behind while Dorothy was laughing out loud.

"Anyhow's nothing happened for the past few days now?."

"I mean the school let ya both off for a week right?."

"Yes, The Master and including Anna as well, the Principal's orders."

"EEEkkk!!!."

Hearing that word Atalanta had a shiver as if hearing that name gave her trauma and a nostalgic terrifying vibe.

"Atalanta?."

"Sorry, Sis has some history with that principal when we were still schooling here some time ago."

"Really?."

"Never underestimate that woman, she knows everything that has happened in her school but chooses not to interfere until things go to hell."

Seeing Atalanta being afraid of someone for the first time made them all feel unease for some reason, they just can't explain it.

[Now that I think about it, Me and Dorothy met her that one time when we first met each other]

"Anyhow's we just came to check on ya like always."

"Come on Atalanta, It's been a week now and we've been safe so far."

"Whoahh there kid, I believe you just raised a flag."

"Ehhh?."

"Stupid Arthur."

"Ehhhhhhhhh!?!?!?!."

"If something happens don't be afraid to call us alright."

"You two going out now?."

"Yup, me and Sis have received news recently about a mysterious person who's been attacking random heroes at night. we are helping the other heroes catch that attacker as we speak."

"Is that so?."

"And it's not just heroes the person's been attacking lately, children with powers have also been beaten to death."

"C-Children!?."

Just from hearing that Arthur clenched his fists as hard as he could to hear kids being beaten to death by someone cowardly, he grits his teeth and says,

"You two be careful now and make sure you catch that guy."

"Who do you think you're talking to? don't worry we'll be fine."

Atalanta and Aiden go through the window once again and as they left the room Saya asks randomly,

"How do they get in and out without being noticed."

In a Van outside a family restaurant, there were 2 girls in the couch while 2 boys at the front falling asleep while drooling on the wheel, In the couch the 2 girls were in communication with someone they know, the person asked.

"Do you guys have a name yet?."

The two girls looked at each other and said simultaneously.

"Nope."

"Come on, You guys need a name otherwise nobody will ever hear of your dark deeds here in the underworld."

It was Gwyn, the leader the group and Frenda her most trusted assistant, they were in contact with a known leader of the underworld and through this person they could do their missions or assassinations of sorts depending if the job suits them or if they can handle it.

They never saw his face yet and couldn't hear his voice normally, because when they're always in contact, he doesn't show his face on screen and his voice is well tuned that no one could ever identify, All they know is as far as they can tell, It's a male and possibly a teenager.

"I mean you guys need a name you know, like, Free, Knife or Weapon who just got their missions completed just now."

"Completed? did they say what their mission was in the first place?."

Frenda was curious about the job the group so called Weapon took, as she believed if they were the ones who took it they would've done a more brilliant job than them.

"Some sort of kidnapping I believe? they haven't shared their information that much in the underworld yet, some of my colleagues have been eager to know because of the massive reward they got from it."

"It was a huge pile of money?."

"Yes. too huge that you could quit your job for almost two years now."

"Alright it's settled, Leader let's go sack Weapon ---!."

"Hold it, even if you go there now they're still a capable group you know."

"The only threat there is their sniper, if we take her out it's easy from there and out."

"Umm excuse me Gwyn, can you stop her.. before I do?."

Gwyn releases an annoyed sigh as Frenda tries to leave the van, she stomps her foot on the van and a huge bang could be heard from the outside.

"Frenda, we make our own riches not take em."

"But we're a dark side organization, the key word Dark, means we can do things the normal people can't."

"I get it but right now we don't have enough resources or the money to get them, and don't forget our last mission was the most tiresome of them all."

"Yeah my apologies about that, sorry Frenda but if you all go there I won't be able to bail you guys out and the Darkness group itself might hunt you down."

"Also did you forget Frenda... Dark side groups should never have conflict with each other or else war will break loose with all the groups here in the kingdom."

Before a long time ago, Dark side groups would often take things from each other, whether money, jobs, or even members.. and once the Darkness group was formed a peace treaty was signed and each dark side group, Like Weapon etc. would be supervised by a superior in the group Darkness.

"Oh yeahh.. Hehehe."

Frenda takes her seat and Gwyn crosses both her arms and asked,

"And? do we have another job yet?."

"Not yet.. right now things aren't going well to be honest."

"What do you mean?."

"The other leaders have been restless for some reason, others believed it's gonna lead to a coup d'etat."

"And if it does do you want us to rescue you?."

"Thanks for the concern but I can at least handle myself, but when it does I might need your help for a while and probably stay with you."

"No problem. You've helped us a lot ever since we first came to this world it's the least we can do to thank you."

"Appreciate it, now if you'll excuse me I have to go clear up the last mess you made."

"And who's fault was that?."

"Right. Right I'll deal with it somehow."

He ends the call and Frenda opens a can of soda and takes a sip out of it while Gwyn was thinking deeply about something that was on her mind as soon as Frenda puts down the can and exhales a loud "Ahhhh." she notices her leader and asks,

"What is it Leader?."

"Hmmm the job Weapon took lately, could it be related to the one where we declined that person's request a few days ago?."

"What do you?---!."

She wasn't sure about what but what comes to her mind was when she lit up Kix with a bunch of sparklers.

"Does it have any connection when I lit Kix up?."

"Yes, That request happened that day the mission was to capture two teenagers a boy and a girl.. I wonder if that has any relation to what Weapon took."

It was already 7:00 in the night and Violet was across the street passing by Gwyn's van without noticing, she stops and takes a look at the restaurant, she wasn't wearing her armor this time around though, she was wearing a frilly dress while wearing a cute little red bow on her right side.

[I wonder what food would Brother and Ava like to eat here]

She notices two heroes running towards someplace in a hurry and says to herself,

"I'm sure they can handle it.. now I'm just going to buy pork since Brother always loved that."

Following the two heroes now.. they received news of somewhat a hooded person appeared out of nowhere and started killing other civilians and heroes near it,

"Do you think we can deal with it with just the two of us?."

"I'm not sure but we need to protect as many civilians as we can."

"Alright."

The heroes went towards the other city where the chaos was happening, and from there everything was in chaos, civilians panicking, some heroes killed by the mysterious person in a hood, he was walking slowly while slashing people left and right.

"Hey you! stop right there!!!."

The two heroes arrived while the person stopped in his tracks, the heroes asked again.

"Who are you!?."

"And why are you doing this!?."

There was no response, he was silent, the wind blows the sleeves from the hood through which the wind was heading from, but there was still no response from the person..

He was looking downwards as if he didn't care who was in front of him.

"Gifts..."

A single word was spoken by him.. the heroes couldn't got that but they knew he said something.

The wind kept on blowing stronger and stronger as he slowly said.

"Killl.... people... with..."

The wind finally took off the entire hood of the person revealing his presence.

"Gifts."

It was a droid, with red eyes staring into the two heroes they were frozen in fear, to see such a thing for the first time, it's skeleton parts as his elbows, and the rapiers for its arms were all covered in blood.

It was the first time they've seen a monster like this one, they were trembling in fear, don't know what to do, there were still civilians in the area.

"W-We have to protect them!."

One of the heroes rushed towards the droid while the droid itself was just standing there.

"Underestimating humans ey!! Taste this!."

He swung his sword at the droid only to find out both his arms have been cut up by the droid.

"When did it?."

The Droid then sliced off the heroes head.. as it rolls on the floor, the last hero manages to kick the droid backwards, away from the civilians running away.

"I-I won't let you kill any more, stand down!."

"Denied."

The next thing the hero knew was that the droid itself rushed towards him, unprepared the hero took out his sword and parried the droid's rapiers.

"Kill... all.. gifts--!."

The droid was kicked farther away from the people this time, the Hero felt some pain from kicking the droid with a huge amount of force if the droid went that close to him again there won't be a second time.

The droid stood up as if it were nothing, the Hero couldn't damage it.

"Kill.."

Almost everyone had escaped some were carrying injured people so the last hero standing had to buy time for them and at the same time buy time until the other heroes arrive.

The hero readied his sword and made his stance as he was shocked to see the droid aim his pistols at him, and once it fired a shot he almost messed up and only made it a graze.

The droid kept on firing without rest until it ran out of bullets, and the hero was barely standing, he managed to block everything with his sword.

"Then how about..."

It then aimed at a person carrying an injured one, The hero threw his sword at the bullet heading towards them, although he managed to save the two lives.

"Predictable humans!."

The next thing the hero knew was that the droid itself was right in front of him and has filled him with holes too many for him to be healed.

He knew he wasn't gonna make it, but he kept on standing.

"You... still... live?."

The droid stabbed one of its rapiers in the Hero's legs while it gave him a stare, its red eyes reflecting on the eyes of the close to death hero.

He headbutted the droid but only caused himself more pain, the droid froze for at least a second until stabbing its free rapier into the hero's head.

"If I destroy the source of the body, everything falls apart."

The hero has fallen to his knees and was dead on the floor, the droid wiped all the blood into the hero's clothes, dirtying the Hero's squad badge.

"Now time to --!."

The droid leaped away as someone came from behind and almost slashed him up.

"Who... you?."

"Oh?? surprise you have already forgotten about me.. pffft I wouldn't blame you I was wearing my armor when we first met.. CV."
