Chapter 11: Exploration

''Ugh!'' I woke up and groaned in pain, I sat up and removed the bandages around my arms. I hissed I pain as I rubbed the bruises on my forearm.

''Fuck.'' I cursed quietly and stood up, looking around, I could see the aftermath of our brawl, everything was a huge mess, broken trees which were mostly due to the old man's insane attacks. I unconsciously flinched as I remembered my near-death experience.

I looked around for the old man, he was still passed out next to me. I rose and patted myself for any injuries. Besides a few splinters in my back and, bruises and a stabbing pain on my jaw, nothing else was wrong.

It seemed that we were out of it for hours, since it was currently morning. Right now, I had two choices. Wake up the old man and have him explain what happened, but yesterday's events left me a little shaken. My second option was to wait for him to wake up naturally, hopefully he would be in a better state of mind by then.

I had no idea where we were right now, we arrived here by teleportation so only the old man knew our location and how to get back to the cottage. Since the old man would be out for an indefinite amount of time, the first thing I had to do was find some food just in case.

I picked up my swords and appraised them , it was a pair of swords, each with slim and straight double-edged blades. Both blades also have an upward-curved bladed prong near the tip of one side of the blade and another one near the base of the blade's other side. At their bases are smooth brown hilts with a round grey hilt. Their appearance was quiet, unique and they were one of the seven powerful swords. I had checked their price in the system and the cheapest of them was 900000NP.

(AN: I have no idea on how to scale the individual powers of the swords so if any of you do, please leave a comment explaining the weakest of the swords, to the most powerful.)

I think they were called 'kiba' and were renowned for their sharpness. This would suffice for now, I could unleash their true power once I learned nature transformation, for now they would be useful even if I swung them around without proper skills.

I took one last look at the old man and patched his leg before I chose a random direction and started walking. Hopefully, I wouldn't struggle too much.

''ROAR!!!'' I could do nothing but run as I was chased by a huge beast, it had a huge body and stood with four stubby but powerful legs; enough to topple grown trees. It had brown dirty fur, beady eyes and a ferocious set of teeth.

I dodged to the right to avoid a huge claw that slid right past me, for its large size it was also fast and persistent, it had been 30 minutes since it had started chasing me and I could never lose it for a long time.

I also couldn't hope to fight it head on with my current strength, it would no doubt rip me apart and bathe in my blood, but if I kept on running, I would get lost.

I had to find another way to deal with this beast, maybe I could set a trap and kill it. I had no idea as to how I could do that yet but I'm sure something around here could be helpful.

I continued running and evading the beast for a while longer, eventually we reached a riverbank, I could hear sound of a water fall further ahead of me. An idea quickly formed in my mind and I immediately implemented it.

I evaded another one of the beast's attack and ran towards the waterfall, the beast roared angrily and followed closely behind.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous; I also regretted my decision to leave the training grounds to go find food in an unknown location.

I slowed down slightly to let the bearlike moster catch up and when I reached the edge of the bank, I turned around and waited for the bear to catch up.

It caught up and stopped a few meters before me, there was an excited glint in its eyes as it finally cornered its annoying prey. I took out two kunai from the pouch I had bought and threw it towards the bear.

My efforts were for naught, the bear's tough fur just deflected the daggers, the bear didn't take kindly to its prey fighting and jumped ready to rip me apart.

''Heh.'' I smiled mockingly and flickered out of the way, the bear growled in surprise when I suddenly disappeared.

It flew past the edge and plummeted to the ground. I peeked below to see the bear impaled by the rocks below.

''ROAR!!'' The bear looked up at me and let out a frightening roar, as much as I wanted to finish it off and earn points, I didn't want to deal with anymore beasts and the smell of blood would attract the others. I left the area quickly and headed towards the training grounds.

After searching for hours to no avail, I realized I was lost in this forest, trying to get a higher vantage only showed an expansive forest, the only good news was the lack of attacks from other dangerous beasts.

The sun would set in a few hours and I couldn't afford to be wandering at night, I decided to look for a safe place to pass the night.

I picked a few edible fruits and started searching for a cave. I searched for hours but found nothing, so I decided to climb a tall tree before the sun set.

It wouldn't do much to protect me from the cold but making a fire in the middle of nowhere was also not a good idea.

I watched as the sun set before closing my eyes to continue my shape transformation training.

Like usual I willed my chakra to move to my arm, without any resistance or delay it moved as I wished and started taking shape, I concentrated harder and further compressed the chakra on my forearm until a blue glowing aura encased my arm. It slowly turned into a point at my fingers and became sharp at the edges.

I let out a sigh and opened my eyes, I had finally succeeded, I slashed a nearby branch and watched as my hand passed through like butter and the thick branch fell to the ground.

I dissipated my chakra and decided to rest and recover, although the system had multiple recovery food-pills I had to save my measly points for when I truly need them.

Right now, I only had 2000 points remaining, the kunai pouch had cost me 3000 points due to the space expansion seals inside, the rest of my points had been spent on buying scrolls about shape transformation, chakra nature transformation and the two jutsu I currently relied on for survival, which had cost 15000NP in total.

Since I had already learned about shape transformation, it was time to practice nature transformation as well. Hopefully I had lightning release, my best weapons were the kiba swords, I could only bring out their worth if I had an affinity with the lightning element.

I closed my eyes and let sleep engulf me, my mental fatigue made sure that once I closed my eyes, I slept like a corpse.
