Chapter 12: Exploration pt 2
Days passed by and I couldn't find the training grounds no matter how hard I tried. I had sticked to hiding and setting traps for small animals and other herbivores for food, I also picked a plentiful supply of fruits.
I had also realized that the system's way of allocating points was proportional to the rarity and strength of what I killed or exchanged. I now had 1200 NP after saving up for the past few days.
I also found a special paper when I was searching through the system, apparently it could tell me what my affinity is if I poured some chakra into it. I had only found it after accidentally activating the system's voice search, which I had no idea had existed until last night.
I decided to buy the paper and its instruction manual, after reading through the parchment of paper, I put it inside the kunai pouch. I opened the system and willed it to show me the chakra paper.
Its cost was not steep, only 280 points per sheet. I bought a sheet and did a silent prayer to whichever good of luck would hear it, I needed an affinity with lightning release.
I poured some chakra inside the paper, the paper spit in half cleanly, one side of the paper became damp while the other crinkled up.
I was both shocked and happy, shocked because having three affinities was not common and happy because one of them was lightning release.
I excitedly jumped down the tree, I had to train as fast as I could and gain some form of mastery over lightning release.
(AN: I have no idea how to train lighting transformation soo…. yeah time-skip it is.)
...…..2 month time-skip
3rd person POV
A young man who wore a simple black cloak was currently holding two swords and standing in the middle of a pack of 8 wolves, they stood almost as tall as the boy and had a strange dark energy emanating from their bodies.
The wolves circled him slowly while approaching one step at a time, they growled menacingly at the calm youth.
The youth took a stance and channeled some energy into his two blades. As if responding, the swords sparkled with violent yellow lightning.
The wolves didn't waste time, two jumped in and attacked, they rushed the boy and buried the sharp teeth inside him.
'POOF'
With a puff of smoke, all that remained were two wolves biting down on a log. The wolves perked up when they heard a whine of pain at the back and saw that one of their own had been stabbed right through the heart.
They growled angrily, the wolf on the boy's right slashed its claws which were coated in a strange dark energy. The boy used the blade in his right hand to block the attack, he swiftly spun around and stabbed the defenseless wolf.
The wolf spasmed and went limp, the youth pried his sword and evaded another wolf that had rushed to bite him. He was about to follow up with an attack when suddenly, his instincts warned him to evade again.
The youth channeled chakra and moved too fast for the eyes to see, he rushed straight ahead and cut of another wolf's head and a good chunk of its lower body, but he also lost balance and fell to the ground. The boy immediately rolled forward to dodge another wolf which had pounced him.
The boy turned and threw his sword towards the wolf, he immediately flickered towards the sword and yanked it from the forehead of the dead wolf.
He rushed towards another pair of wolves and flickered behind them, he used a tree to propel himself towards them and cut off their heads.
Only two wolves remained, they looked at the boy wearily as they growled and retreated. They knew they were outmatched.
The boy stared at their retreating figures to make sure they disappeared. He took out a strange scroll and gathered the bodies of the dead wolves, he did a hand-sign, the bodies disappeared in a puff of smoke.
''2 thousand points each isn't too bad.'' The youth remarked with a smile, he immediately left the place.
The past two months were life-changing for the boy, he had mastered the basics of lightning release quickly, this was due to the constant threat of death. His swords helped him greatly due to their imbued lighting properties.
Since then, the boy had fought many rank-1 beasts in the forest and somehow managed to survive. Although his sword skills were not refined or elegant, the boy survived up to now through them and that was more than enough for the boy. To him, looking beautiful while slaying beasts was just ridiculous.
The boy's time here helped him adapt to the ecosystem, it consisted mostly of harmless beasts and low-level tire rank one beasts. The strongest beast here was a rank two panther and it usually spent time inside its cave.
The boy concluded that it was about to break-through in its cultivation hence why it spent its time secluded from the outside. This didn't mean it was vulnerable though, once something gets within a certain range of the panther's lair it would die a gruesome death.
It was only through luck that the boy had been spared after encountering the beast, although the boy knew he could defeat the beast if they fought. He'd sustain too much injury to survive long and his current objective was to grow stronger through killing weaker beasts and saving points to buy useful jutsu and ninja tools.
The boy arrived at his cave after a while, he unsealed the wolves and decided to sell 5 of them for a 10 thousand NP. The reason for them being so expensive was their steel-like fur and a special crystal found in their brains, this crystal was known as a beast-core and a beast had to be rank-one to form this crystal.
The boy bought some ramen from the system and ate it, after having his fill, he went outside and started practicing with his swords.
He continued doing this until the sun set, he went inside the cave and did some basic exercises before browsing the system.
After the first month the boy realized that waiting for his teacher to find him would yield no result, so he decided to start hunting beasts and buying jutsus. He chose wind instead of water due to the lack of water sources and he already had powerful swords which amplified his lightning element.
He saved up enough points to buy the vacuum sphere jutsu and a C-rank gale palm justsu and 3 vloumes of Kenjutsu techniques. The first allowed him to shoot out compressed spheres of air which would cause damage to whoever was hit while the second one increased the speed of his kunai and shuriken the last one was pretty self explanatory(A/N:how to use a sword for dummies vol 1 to 3). The boy could only lament on how expensice everything was, his savings of 25000 NP gone just like that. But atleast my rank was now C-rank after checkinh the system.
The boy was also curious as to what was further within the forest and his curiosity drove him to amass enough power to explore further inside the forest.
