Debating the Cards Pt.2

However making it 'her game' was not easy, she hated the past version of her who kept such a low-key status in the upper class. It was fine that she liked to stay out of things but she also failed to listen to important gossip. Her mother was her primary source for all things gossip and information she needed to know, however, that source was obviously unreliable. There was also a limit to the information her mother heard, some things were just discussed between the younger generation.

Especially between women, the petty fights and underhanded gossip was only chattered about between them. A lot of them were smart enough to keep the negative news concealed and hidden from general public. It was only through the grapevine you would grab those important pieces or the 'cracks' in their alibi. These tidbits are what she was looking for and would have been extremely helpful in this situation.

Using those tidbits it would give her more accurate information and an advantage when she confronted her at the gala. She had no intention of walking into the trap blindly or taking her brainless comments in silence. There was potential to threaten her mid conversation and back her into a corner or boldly broadcast her dirty laundry to flip the script. This was if she was directly involved, indirectly she also had ideas of using other people to cause her shame. There were definitely some people she could buy out like the waiters but it would be to easy to track it back to her.

If she had her own lackeys this job would be easier, even having her own henchman was desirable and something she would like to have in the future. Obviously she didn't have the means for it now but it was a passing thought in her mind. It couldn't hurt to day dream and wish for things she didn't have currently. Henchmen would definitely help her and that was a fact.

She held a strong position in society but it was mainly due to her family backing. Chen Chunhua was stronger than her but through effort, she was the unofficial 'queen' of the group. She did this by holding many mini events and pushing down any startups or people that were less wealthy than her. Her family background wasn't to be taken lightly either but the Chen's were lower than the Shu's by a significant amount. That was the main reason Chunhua could not beat her no matter how she tried, simply by background alone she could oppress her.

Technically speaking, if she put effort into taking back the reins of being the social 'queen' then it would be a hard batter for Chunhua to do. However, she still had no desire to do that. Gaining that title would not help her, she wanted to increase her presence and make it above something like that.

Her eyebrows furrowed as she tried to recollect anything that could help her with the upcoming ball. There wasn't much that she actually remembered other than Chunhua's enmity for her. Around this time there were a couple of rumours about some underground businesses but nothing overtly specific. Anything that happened after the ball she was not privy too considering how depressed and isolated she was.

A sigh left her at the realization she was at another standstill. Nothing was working out for her no matter how long she thought. It was a hard contradiction to be both set on revenge and have barely anything to complete so with. The only thing she could rely on from her past life was the sequence of events for the next six months, everything else was for naught.

Rubbing her eyes, she moved away from her spot and continued her walk to the next spot. She would need to sit down and think about these things later. Maybe writing it down would help her thinking but standing here did nothing for her. She had stood there for so long that she had begun to get looks from the others around her. From a third party point of view she was standing with a serious look on her face, bags littered around her feet, and no movement for more than five minutes. She could have been considered a statue at that point but a distracting one considering the branded bags and eccentric position.

'This rebirth is truly back to back death flags and dead ends.....'

She pushed those thoughts aside and considered her next store. Looking down at her watch, she saw that the time was around three in the afternoon. Her eyes widened at how much time had passed already. She had come around eight in the morning and after everything that happened, seven hours had passed.

That time felt both short and long but it meant she only had a couple more hours left. There were approximately five hours till the stores closed and her butler would pick her up. She couldn't waste more time, 'where should I go next? Or what should I buy??'

She wanted to keep going on the collecting money scheme but that could not be her main purpose. There were still two other stores she wanted to check out and a couple other things she wanted to buy. Right now, buying some resources and self-defence items were also a high priority. When seriously considering the items she needed, her computer came to mind.

She still could use it but do get more into hacking and dig further, she would need more technology. If her brother was tracking her cards like usual, then the technology items would start to add up even if she did them within multiple useless ones. Especially since they would seem over her skill level. Throughout the game she wanted to gather information so that computer was fine for that.

However, for hacking she would need a stronger processing system and one that was able to handle more cyber security upgrades. If she did not have the right system, someone could easily hack her back or override her control to access her computer. Which would be counter-intuitive. So there were many purchases to be made for it and she could use this time to sneak out and create a separate bank account.

'But would they need identification...?'
